Chapter 5 Sulking Over Drinks

"Aiyo, why is our Young Master Liao drinking alone in a sulk? Not keeping your little Boyfriend company?"

I walked into the private room, opened a few bottles, and drank with my head down.

My childhood friend Xiao Cheng came over to tease me.

"Young Master Liao is today's birthday star. Someone actually dared to upset you."

I answered him coldly. "We broke up."

"Gu Qunian brought it up."

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. This was the most stifling birthday I had ever spent.

It even felt worse than the year I turned eighteen.

How had Gu Qunian dared to treat me like this?

The others looked at each other and smiled.

Xiao Cheng laughed the loudest. "You actually lost~"

"Who? They dared dump our Young Master Liao? That Sports Car you promised before, I'll be taking it."

After the college entrance exam, I played a game with them. By chance, top student Gu Qunian passed by.

My playful mood kicked up, and I made a Bet on him.

"I bet I can hook him within a month. The stake is a Sports Car. How about it?"

My friends all put money down, betting whether I could land Gu Qunian.

I had not done anything yet when Gu Qunian started chasing me. After that birthday, I forgot the Bet completely.

Two years passed. I was still with him.

Once it was plain I had really fallen for him, Xiao Cheng and the others seemed to notice. By some quiet understanding, none of them brought up that Bet again.

I had not expected that I would be the one dumped.

In this love game, I lost.

Xiao Cheng hurried to comfort me. "Aiya, it's just one man. A breakup is a breakup. Someone like him never suited you. Why act so above it all."

"Anyway, it's just a Bet. Don't take it seriously."

Yeah. It was only a Bet. I had been stupid enough to mean it.

Stupid enough to be pitiful.

My rival, Fu Jiye, just back from abroad, sat in the dark and laughed without a sound.

He walked over and snatched the glass from my hand.

He looked down at me. "Liao Xing, this is so boring. Why not play something exciting."

Looking at Fu Jiye, I got even angrier.

We had been at odds since we were little. We had fought for so many years. I had a feeling he was very pleased with himself right now.

"You came specially to watch me make a fool of myself, didn't you?"

"If so, get out. I'm afraid I won't hold back from hitting someone."

Fu Jiye's fingers lightly hooked my chin and forced me to look up at him.

The hazy light in the private room fell across his face and made him look even more striking.

"Why not be with me. I will definitely serve you better than he did."

"And I will never let you lose."

"How about it?"
