Chapter 5 #2

The rear SUV mounts the curb, and its door opens before the tires stop.

Everyone crowds inside: Boris takes the front passenger seat, Ivan and two guards fill the rear bench, and Artur claims the last seat in the middle row before pulling me onto his lap.

“This isn’t secure,” I tell him.

“Every other seat is occupied, and my lap is the safest place left in this vehicle,” Artur replies with dry satisfaction. “Try not to make me regret the arrangement.”

The SUV accelerates, throwing my shoulder against his chest. Artur wraps one arm around my waist as his other hand braces my bare thigh through the slit, the hot broad palm holding me in place through the first corner.

My ass presses against the hard length under his trousers, and I stop breathing for one second.

Artur speaks to Boris as if his erection isn’t pressed under my ass through the fitted dress. “Split the convoy. Send the decoy east and confirm who owns the truck.”

Boris relays the orders, and the guards study separate windows.

Another turn moves me against Artur, and his fingers tighten on my thigh.

“Stop rubbing your ass on me,” he murmurs near my ear.

“Tell your driver to stop treating Atlanta’s corners as a personal challenge.”

Artur’s expression stays completely serious as I fight a laugh at the accusation.

I shift to find a safer position and make his erection press harder.

Artur’s breath warms the side of my neck. “If you keep searching, you’ll discover exactly how little privacy this vehicle provides.”

Heat floods my face as Ivan studies the rear window; one guard finds sudden interest in the ceiling.

“Your people can hear you,” I whisper.

“Nobody in this vehicle is surprised I have a cock, but I agree they don’t need a progress report.”

His thumb slides one inch higher under the slit. “Then sit still, wife.”

The word sends a hard pulse through my clitoris. I obey for almost thirty seconds.

Boris confirms the truck was abandoned before we reached it. The sedan escaped south, but a traffic camera captured the driver. Our SUV changes routes twice before leaving the city.

I expect the Dymov mansion’s guarded gates, but the convoy leaves the city and turns onto a private road where pines close over us, their branches combing the last light into green strips across the armored glass.

At the end stands a compact brick house beneath a low roof, its dark windows reflecting trees instead of revealing rooms. With no mailbox, porch furniture, or light beyond the eaves, it wears the withheld silence of a home designed to disappear while everything inside waits awake.

“Where are we?” I ask.

“Home for now,” Artur answers.

The front door belongs on a bank vault, but cedar lining the entry closet warms the small hall with a dry, woody smell.

The first breath inside also carries warm air and the faint clean scent of unused linens, while low ventilation moves through narrow ceiling grilles in a constant soft rush, giving the stillness its own breathing.

For one deceptive moment, the house offers the physical promise of safety before the weight of the reinforced door reminds me what safety has cost.

Artur locks the door behind us, and the steel bolts slide into place with two heavy sounds.

Inside the fortress, the proportions are almost intimate.

With no stairs anywhere, a compact central hall holds the one-story house together; the main room offers a short sofa, a table set for two, and a kitchen fitted along one wall, leaving nothing far enough away for a raised voice to become private.

Beyond the kitchen, a fenced courtyard holds a detached brick garage, its single dark window facing the rear road while the forest presses near behind it.

“Boris and the guards have another property nearby,” Artur says. “Nobody enters this house unless the exterior team confirms them first.”

The deeper I follow Artur, the more the domestic surface gives way to purpose.

A reinforced exterior door opens from the kitchen to the courtyard; an open study occupies the first recess, barely more than a desk beneath built-in shelves, with a small second bathroom beyond it.

Across the hall, two narrow windowless rooms hold battery racks, water tanks, and radio equipment for a siege.

The house is a weapon disguised as somewhere to sleep, yet its scale makes the deception strangely intimate: every door lies within a few steps of every other person, and neither utility room has enough floor space for anyone to lie down.

At the end of the hall, the glass-walled main bathroom stands opposite the only real bedroom.

One bed fills most of the bedroom.

“You omitted the one-bed problem when we negotiated housing,” I say.

Artur stops behind me. The thin interior wall carries the whisper of his suit sleeve against the doorframe. “You specified secure housing but neglected bed count. This was the safest available property.”

I turn. “Reinforced doors don’t explain why you expect us to share the mattress.”

His mouth lifts. “Your attorney was very thorough in other areas.”

I point toward the sofa. “Enjoy it. Your feet may hang over the arm, but the tragedy will claim no innocent victims.”

Artur’s expression stays solemn for half a second before he laughs.

My duffel arrives through an exterior security compartment, and I unpack in the bedroom while Artur sheds the visible pieces of power on the other side of the thin wall.

His jacket lands first, followed by the muted click of the shoulder holster leaving his body.

A drawer closes in the kitchen; then his shoes cross the hall with the measured weight I have already learned to recognize.

By the time the bathroom latch turns, anticipation has made every ordinary sound indecently clear.

Water begins behind clear shower glass.

I place folded underwear in a cedar drawer, then look through the open bedroom doorway.

Artur stands naked under the shower.

His back faces me first, water running from the width of his shoulders down the muscles beside his spine.

Across part of his left shoulder blade, black ink continues over his upper arm.

Below the ribs on his right side, a pale scar cuts across his skin.

His waist narrows above a firm ass, with deep lines forming where his thighs meet his hips.

He turns to rinse soap from his chest.

Dark hair covers the center of his chest and narrows below his navel.

Without every rib showing beneath the muscle, his stomach remains flat and defined.

Between his thighs, his penis hangs thick and longer than my hand, growing heavier while I watch.

Over the broad head, water travels before falling from the underside.

My mouth goes dry as heat gathers between my legs, immediate and embarrassing, and the lace thong grows damp against me.

Artur looks through the glass and finds me standing in the bedroom doorway.

I reach for underwear without turning away.

Steam spreads across the glass, whitening the view from his shoulders downward. For several seconds, only the dark outline of his body remains.

Then his palm wipes one clear patch at the exact height of his cock.

The rest of Artur stays hidden behind fog, but his penis remains visible through the oval, fully hard now and angled away from his body. He shifts his hips once, making the heavy length swing behind the glass while he watches my face.

“Subtle,” I call.

“You looked disappointed when the steam covered me.” His voice carries clearly through the thin wall. Artur moves his hips again, slower this time. “I’m reassuring you that nothing important drowned.”

I set the underwear in the drawer. “It appears alive but dangerously unsupervised.”

His smile disappears, and the thick shaft lifts higher as his body tightens behind the fog.

“Come supervise it,” he replies, his voice lower.

My nipples press hard against the dress. I hold his gaze through the clear patch. “Your contract has four lines explaining why supervision isn’t my job. Put it away before it violates zoning.”

Artur plants one hand against the glass, and for the first time, he doesn’t have an immediate answer.

I close the drawer and walk away before my shaking legs ruin the victory.

That night, rain whispers against the window while the lights remain off, and Artur lies on the right side of the only bed wearing black lounge pants. I wear a long T-shirt over the expensive panties, with two feet of mattress between us, though both of us pretend the distance will hold.

“No touching,” I say into the dark. “The emergency conditions in the SUV don’t create a precedent.”

“My cock experienced those conditions differently.”

I pull the blanket higher. “Stay on your side.”

“Gladly.” His dry reply comes from much closer than his side should be.

A metal scrape sounds outside the bedroom window.

Artur moves before I finish inhaling, rolling over me with a pistol in one hand and covering my body while the mattress dips beneath his weight. His bare chest presses against my breasts as one hard thigh forces between mine, lifting the shirt until cool air reaches my underwear.

My heart slams against my ribs, and adrenaline sharpens the cedar smell and the quiet rush from the vent. Artur’s breath touches my mouth while he checks a security screen beside the bed.

The exterior camera shows a raccoon dragging the metal cover from a drain.

Artur lowers the pistol but stays over me while I keep both hands on his shoulders.

His thigh remains between my legs, pressing the damp lace against the place already aching for him. The danger has passed, but my pulse refuses to slow. Fear mixes with the heat of his skin until I can’t separate one from the other.

“Katie,” he says quietly.

The warning in my name is clear; if I move closer, the boundary ends because I chose to cross it.

I put my hand behind his neck and kiss him.
