Chapter 9 Will You Marry Me

When I woke again I was still dizzy. I found myself lying in a finely decorated room. My Short Blade lay by the head of the bed.

The quilt under me was soft and took some of the pain away. I wanted to sit up, but it pulled at the wound on the back of my head. Thick cloth was wrapped around my head. I looked around the room in confusion.

Footsteps came from outside the door. Zhang Ming walked in holding a bowl of medicine.

I stared at him blankly. Tears fell drop by drop. He looked a little panicked and hurried to my side.

"Does it hurt badly? I'll call the doctor."

It really was him. Zhang Ming had saved me.

I pressed my lips together and shook my head.

Then Zhang Ming fed me the medicine spoon by spoon.

"Sister Mudan will come to see you."

He seemed eager to leave. I grabbed his sleeve and just stared, with a plea in my eyes.

Zhang Ming sat back by the bed, a little helpless.

"I know you and Sister Mudan are close, and she is a woman. I meant for her to tell you."

He said in a gentle voice: "Ahua, will you marry me?"
