Chapter Eight

Charlotte

The lady finally comes back. She sits down with a new food tray and picks up the old one.

At first, she doesn’t say anything. But before she walks out the door, she looks at me and says, “I am glad to see you have eaten. We have been in contact with your son, Thomas. You shouldn’t be here much longer.

We gave him our demands, and he is giving them to his boss at the CIA.

As soon as they do what we are asking them to do, you will be released, and we will be out of the country. ”

I felt happy about them finally making contact. I wondered how they got in touch with Thomas. That’s when it hit me, she said, his CIA boss.

“I think you have the wrong person. My son is not CIA he is in the Marine Corps,” I said.

She didn’t even reply. She just laughed at me.

What the hell? Thomas is not with the CIA.

For one, he would have told me. He wouldn’t keep something like that from me.

They have obviously got the wrong Thomas.

But how do we convince them of that? I am sure that is what Thomas is trying to figure out.

I will work on trying to convince her when she comes back.

I ate the chicken Caesar salad and toast that she brought me. I tried to come up with some way to let her know that she has the wrong mother and son. But I was coming up with nothing. No solutions.
