Chapter 7 #3

“You don’t come until I am inside you.” Lanlin moves with uncanny speed across the nest, dragging Daire away from me.

He tosses him like he weighs nothing into the pile of cushions.

Then he is towering over me. “Dearheart, I can’t hold back.

My fangs ached for years in agony, while I searched for you.

I was caught in a nightmare, fearing that I would never find my Omega bond mate.

You were the light at the end of a lifetime of nights.

But this…” He snarls around a mouthful of fangs.

“I am not your other Alphas. I can’t be gentle tonight. ”

“Who’s asking you to be?” I bare my teeth too, presenting him with my neck in challenge more than submission. Waves of heat are hitting me, driving me deeper into heat, but I am clear about this. “I’m a wild wolf, not some weak elite Omega. Show me who you are, my darkness.”

Lanlin’s smile stretches into something truly dangerous.

“Didn’t you once call me a psycho?” His voice drops, low and sultry.

“Did I say that I expected you to change?”

“Never.” He thrusts into me, hard.

I gasp, as despite Daire’s work and my slick, he still stretches me. I welcome the delicious burn. He pistons into me, faster than anyone has rutted me before.

I throw my head back, delirious with pleasure. “P-p-please…”

“Not until you have my knot, Omega.” Lanlin’s hips snap even faster.

I moan in desperation.

I tear through the blankets with my nails. When I try to kick my feet, Lanlin hooks his ankles around mine to hold me still and take it.

It’s perfect.

He never takes his gaze from mine.

I feel like I am falling into Lanlin’s eyes’ red chasm…into the darkness behind them.

It terrifies me.

Yet I don’t try and pull away.

Instead, I loop my arms around his neck and draw him into a kiss, as if I can suck the darkness inside him through his lips into me.

When he opens his mouth, and our tongues entwine, I can almost taste his incense shadows spilling into my mouth.

When Daire pushes himself up onto his elbow next to me and licks up the trail of tears streaming down my cheeks, I realize that I am crying.

“I have you, always,” Daire murmurs.

Feverish, barely holding on under Lanlin’s onslaught, I can’t work out what Daire means, until he grazes his sharp teeth down my neck. Then I smell the sharp tang of blood.

Lanlin freezes.

I am pinned under his glowing gaze, as he zeros in on the beading blood.

Suddenly, I realize that I have never truly known what it is to feel like Lanlin’s prey.

I fucking do now.

Fear and exhilaration thrill through me.

Instantly, Lanlin is lost to his rut. He’s not in control. He pushes my head to the side and takes a deep sniff of my throat.

Then he licks down my neck, tasting my blood.

Daire must have known that Lanlin only needed that single taste to complete the ritual and push him over the edge because immediately, Lanlin’s hips stutter, and his knot starts to inflate.

I howl with ecstasy, as Lanlin’s knot pushes at the walls of my pussy, forcing me to come in a way that I would never be able to hold back.

I am howling, scratching, biting.

When Daire kisses me, I suck harshly on his lip.

“I love you.” Daire is kissing me with a type of desperation that I don’t understand. I blink at him. Why is he crying? “I love you. Please, don’t forget me, Spark? I fucking love you.”

What’s happening?

Lanlin grabs Daire by his curls and yanks the fae’s head to the side. “Time to fulfill our deal. You know what I promised.”

The light in Daire’s eyes fades. “Aye, drink. I am at your mercy. A fae of the House of Thorn doesn’t break his deals.”

Lanlin’s fangs grow even longer. The moonlight gleams off them.

Daire rests his hand on my head like he needs the connection.

Panicked, I can sense the sudden spike of fear through our bond.

Normally, Daire is as addicted to being Lanlin’s Blood Lover as Lanlin is to drinking his blood.

It’s not healthy, but the Shadow Vampires’ trick is luring in their prey. Fae blood is addictive, but I believe that the vampire bite is just as addictive.

Why then is Daire frightened of it now?

“Wait…” I struggle to speak through the waves of pleasure still washing over me.

My heat has abated, however, probably because it was a fake one triggered by the blue lotus wine. It must only have needed Lanlin and me to knot.

Still locked with me, however, Lanlin sinks his fangs savagely into Daire’s throat.

My eyes widen.

This isn’t a gentle, ritualistic feeding.

Blood drips from Daire’s neck onto my chin.

“S-s-stop,” I gasp. “You’ve taken enough. Too fucking much.”

Lanlin sinks his fangs deeper into Daire’s neck, however, sucking harder.

Daire’s eyelashes flutter, and his face becomes worryingly waxy and pale.

“Fucking stop.” I struggle, shoving at Lanlin, but it feels like he is carved out of the same limestone as the hulking pyramids. “You’re killing him.”

Still Lanlin doesn’t let go.

I sob, when Daire slumps in Lanlin’s hold. His lax hand drops from my head.

I can’t feel him anymore.

I can’t feel my Alpha.

I howl, using a move that I learned in the academy to twist to the side, sliding my hand to the dagger that Daire himself stripped me of earlier and placed by my head.

I slice it up toward Lanlin’s throat, and he can’t stop me because he’s draining the life from my soulmate. “Take your fucking fangs out of his throat now.”

I’m shaking.

Lanlin and I are still locked together by his knot, and my muscles are aching and weak.

Daire isn’t moving at all anymore. His wings hang limp between his shoulder blades.

Lanlin’s knot deflates.

My mouth twists in distress.

It feels like our first rutting is ending soon, and now, we’ll be parted forever.

Dark magic swirls around me, pressing down oppressively.

Is it coming from the pyramids or somewhere older still?

I press the Night Sky Blade harder against Lanlin’s throat, forcing myself to say the words that could fulfill a prophecy I have been fighting against for months, and which could end in one of us bleeding out tonight. “I will count to three. One…two…”

Finally, Lanlin pulls his fangs out of Daire’s neck, dropping him into the bedding of the nest gently like he hasn’t just torn out his throat.

To my shock, Lanlin is as deathly pale as Daire is.

He blinks at me, as if only just realizing that I am holding a knife at his throat. “My dear, didn’t you wish me to show you who I am?”

Then his eyes roll back, and he collapses backwards, unmoving.

Suddenly, I am alone under the unforgiving night sky and Void Pyramids.

I stare at the two Alphas who are lying with me on my wedding night.

And I don’t know if they are both dead.
