43. Chapter 43 #2
She was so wet my fingers moved easily, curling and pumping inside her while my cock filled her from behind. Every time I brushed that spot, her pussy clenched around my fingers, and her ass tightened around my cock.
My control started going with it.
“Feel how full you are?”
She answered with a broken moan.
I increased the rhythm of my fingers.
“I’ve been waiting all night to feel you come like this.”
Her thighs began shaking.
“That’s it. Stop holding back.”
“I’m not holding back.”
“Aye, you are. I can feel you trying to keep control.”
I curled my fingers harder and drove into her again.
Her body seized.
I bent closer, my mouth beside her ear.
“Come all over my cock and my fingers, Mouse. I want to feel every fucking bit of it.”
She cried out, “Lachlan.”
“Come for me.”
Her orgasm hit so hard that her entire body convulsed beneath mine. Her pussy pulsed around my fingers while her ass clamped down around my cock, and the combination ripped through the last of my control.
I drove into her once more and came hard inside her.
My chest dropped against her back as the contractions kept rolling through both of us. I held her there and buried my forehead against the space between her shoulder blades until my breathing began to resemble something human again.
For a while, neither of us had anything to say.
Isabella finally let out a wrecked little sound beneath me.
I kissed her back. “You still with me?”
“Barely.”
“That’s good enough.”
I waited until her body had gone loose before easing my fingers from her pussy. She flinched at the loss of them, and I gave her another moment before wrapping a hand around her hip.
“I’m pulling out now.”
“Slowly.”
“Aye.”
I withdrew carefully.
She gasped as I eased the last of my cock free, then collapsed onto the mattress with a long exhale.
I rubbed my hand over her back and let her recover.
When she finally turned her face toward me, her hair was everywhere, and she looked thoroughly exhausted.
“You’re beautiful when you’re needy and taking everything I give you,” I said. “But this might be my favorite version.”
Her eyes narrowed lazily. “What version?”
“Completely wrecked.”
“You did that.”
“I know. I intend to keep the look on you whenever possible.”
She made a tired sound of protest as I slid one arm beneath her knees and the other behind her back.
“I can walk.”
“I didn’t ask.”
“Bossy.”
“And yet you said yes to marrying me.”
“That may have been the orgasm talking.”
“Wrong. The ring came first.”
She laughed and rested her head against my shoulder as I carried her into the bathroom.
The shower was quick, warm water doing little to hide how thoroughly I’d worn her out.
I kept one hand at Isabella’s waist while she leaned against me beneath the spray. When she shifted, she winced.
I chuckled into her wet hair.
“You’re enjoying that far too much.”
“Aye.”
“I may never sit comfortably again.”
“You’ll survive.”
She turned in my arms and gave me a tired glare that had considerably less bite than usual.
I brushed the damp hair from her face. “You know what I like about this part?”
“What?”
“Seeing exactly what I did to you.” I let my gaze linger on her heavy eyes and flushed face. “The sleepy look. The shaky legs. You leaning on me because apparently standing has become a team sport.”
“You are insufferably pleased with yourself.”
“I did excellent work tonight.”
Her laugh dissolved into a groan as she rested her forehead against my chest. “Please don’t make me laugh. Everything hurts.”
I kissed the top of her head and held her beneath the water for another minute.
“Isabella Byrnes.”
She lifted her face. “Hmm?”
“I like it.”
A smile tugged at her mouth.
“I started this month as a Delgado, escaped El Salvador as a Duarte, found out I’m a Dravik, and now you’re trying to make me a Byrnes. My passport is going to need footnotes.”
I laughed and pulled her closer. “Byrnes is the last one.”
Her smile softened before she tucked her cheek against my chest again.
I stroked my hand down her wet back.
“I want a house full of babies with you someday.”
Her head came up so quickly I nearly laughed again.
“Slow down, Irishman.”
“I said someday, Mouse. Doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it.”
“How full is this house?”
“Full enough to be noisy.”
“That is not a number.”
“I’m deliberately avoiding numbers.”
“Smart.”
I kissed her forehead. “Kids underfoot. Someone always yelling from another room. You trying to cook while they steal whatever you’ve made before it reaches the table.”
She looked suspiciously pleased by the picture despite the skepticism she was trying to maintain.
“You’ve already populated our future.”
“I plan ahead.”
“You proposed to me after knowing me less than a month.”
“And you said yes.”
“That may say more about my judgment than your planning.”
“Aye, but I’m the one who benefits.”
She laughed softly and wrapped her arms around me.
I shut off the water before either of us found another reason to stay there.
By the time we returned to the bedroom, the candles had burned low. I pulled back the covers, and Isabella climbed in beside me without hesitation.
She settled partly over my chest, one leg sliding across mine as though she’d been sleeping there for years instead of weeks.
Her left hand rested over my heart.
The diamond caught a faint flicker of candlelight when her fingers shifted.
My fiancée.
I covered her hand with mine.
For a while, neither of us spoke.
Then I ran my thumb slowly over her knuckles. “I think you had me before I ever saw your face, Mouse.”
Her cheek moved against my chest.
“In the dungeon?”
“Aye.”
“That’s an unsettling beginning to a love story.”
“I never promised you conventional.”
“No. You definitely did not.”
I smiled and looked toward the dark windows.
“I remember the orange blossom before I knew anything else about you. Then that water bottle crinkling in your hand because you were trying so hard to keep it steady.”
She went quiet.
“You noticed that?”
“I couldn’t see. I noticed everything I could.”
“I was terrified.”
“I know.”
Her fingers moved slightly beneath mine.
“You were scared shitless and came through that door anyway.”
“I couldn’t leave you down there.”
That was Isabella. She could explain it however she liked. She’d still walked through that door for me.
I brushed my fingers through the damp ends of her hair.
“Mouse never meant weak. You were quiet, clever, and damn near impossible to catch.”
Her mouth curved. “And now apparently it also means a woman who likes having her ass spanked and fucked.”
I laughed.
“I’m still revising the definition.”
After a moment, she traced an idle line over my chest.
“What was that cross called—the St. Andrew’s cross? I was wondering how uncomfortable it actually is.”
I grinned.
She glanced up at me. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Keep looking at me like that, and I’ll have one installed before the week’s out.”
“You cannot order sex furniture every time I ask a question.”
“I can.”
“Lachlan.”
I kissed her before she could build an argument.
When I let her go, she shook her head and settled back over my heart.
“Impossible Irishman.”
“You’re marrying me.”
“I know. I happen to like impossible.”
Her voice was soft with exhaustion.
I ran my hand slowly along her back until her body relaxed completely against mine.
Once, in that dungeon, I’d wondered whether fate had finally put someone worth protecting in my path.
I hadn’t understood she’d put my whole future there.
I tightened my arm around her.
“I love you, Mouse.”
She was quiet long enough that I thought she might already be asleep.
Then her fingers curled gently against my chest.
“I love you too.”
I kissed her hair and closed my eyes.
She’d chosen me with her eyes open.
I’d spend every breath I had making sure she never regretted it.
