Epilogue
SLOANE
Kisses rouse me from my last bit of sleep, and when I turn in bed, River hovers over me dressed for his first day of practice. “Do not wake me up looking like that unless you have time to fuck me.”
He chuckles before pressing a kiss to my neck and then moving the sheet to start a trail of kisses down my naked body.
We are at his apartment, where we’ve spent every night since we got here.
Freshmen are technically required to live on campus their first year, but River and I were relishing the excitement of sleeping in the same bed every night, so I rarely planned to be at my dorm even when classes started next week.
Something my roommate was already relishing in as well.
“Your practice starts at three, right?” He asks.
I nod, and he presses a kiss to my lips. “Good luck. I can’t wait to see you after. Maybe you can try your uniform on for me?”
I snort in response. “Maybe. If you behave while I’m at practice.” He practically carried me off the field after the final tryout because I was wearing my old cheer uniform from high school for tryouts.
“I love you,” he whispers against my lips.
“I love you too,” I call after him. There’s a good chance I’m asleep again before he makes it to the elevator.
Later that day, I’m on the football field stretching to get ready for practice when another cheerleader comes over. She’s tall and slender with curly brown hair that is pulled into a bun and I’m pretty sure she’s a year ahead of me.
“Hey,” she says before dropping down next to me and stretching her legs out in front of her. “You’re Sloane, right?”
“Correct.”
“Great, I’m Steph and word on the street is… the new special teams coach is your boyfriend? Like… the hot tatted one?”
“That is his government name.” I laugh.
At this point, I was used to the attention he got.
None of it mattered because all of his attention was always on me.
“Sorry, Kin…something?”
“Kincaid, yes.” I nod.
She squeals and claps her hands. “Oh my God! I thought it was maybe just a rumor. But, good for you, my girl. Does he have any brothers?”
“He does, but he just got married,” I tell her, remembering Rowan and Ellie’s gorgeous wedding in May, and just as we all suspected, Ellie is already pregnant with their first child.
“Ugh, cousins?”
“I’ll see what I can do.”
“Damn, isn’t that him right there? The way he is staring at you… my God,” she swoons, and when I turn my head, River is sitting on the bench staring right at me.
Look away. I try to tell him with my mind before I roll my eyes and turn back to Steph.
“There’s just something about me in a cheerleading uniform.”
The End.
