Chapter 1 The Private Room Re

The private room door was pushed open. Qin Zhimin walked in against the light.

Jiang Qingyao held his arm. They looked like a matched pair that had walked out of a painting.

At the reunion after so many years, my heartbeat reacted before I did.

I looked at Qin Zhimin's face almost greedily.

Six years apart. The boy's softness was gone. His features had gained a mature sharpness.

"President Qin is here!"

Someone greeted them and showed them to their seats.

"Jiang Qingyao is even prettier than on TV."

Someone flattered her.

Someone else glanced at me in the corner and seemed unhappy with how harmonious the room was.

"I remember back in high school, Song Sheng and President Qin were really close. We all thought you two would last. Who knew President Qin would go abroad to study later. Oh, right, Song Sheng, where did you go to college after that?"

The question seemed to stir the curiosity around me. Seeing I said nothing, someone followed.

"Yeah, Song Sheng, your grades were so good then. What major did you study later?"

The topic suddenly landed on me.

I tried to hide how uncomfortable I felt.

I smiled, picked up my bag, and stood. "Sorry. Something came up. I have to leave first."

Before I left, I took one last glance at Qin Zhimin across from me.

From start to finish, he never gave me a look. He stayed focused on peeling shrimp for Jiang Qingyao.
