Chapter 6 Back at the Shared Flat
The car pulled away quickly and disappeared into the night.
I let go of Feng Yi's arm.
"I heard from Ling Yu that you went to see your dream guy tonight. Was that him just now?"
On the way back, Feng Yi asked me.
I hummed a yes and corrected him.
"Not a dream guy. Someone I had always wanted to see again."
Feng Yi looked thoughtful, then suddenly spoke.
"If that doesn't work, why not consider me?"
I turned my head and looked him over.
A soft parted fringe, light in his eyes, and a decent build.
"Sorry. I can't accept someone so much younger than me."
The moment we got home, Feng Yi ducked into the bathroom first.
"I'm too hot. I'll shower first today."
I didn't argue with him. He was only a kid, after all.
I had just set my bag down when the door was pushed open again.
Ling Yu was back.
Almost every unit in this building was a shared rental. Ling Yu, Feng Yi, and I were roommates.
What confused me was that Ling Yu worked at a KTV and usually didn't come back until after midnight.
"Song Sheng, help me, quick."
I hurried over and held Ling Yu up.
Her face was deathly pale. It startled me.
"What's wrong? Where does it hurt? Do you need a hospital?"
Ling Yu lay down on the bed and shook her head.
"No need. My period probably came, and I drank a bit too much yesterday. My stomach hurts now."
At that, I went out and poured her a cup of hot water.
"Song Sheng, can you do me a favor?"
Ling Yu looked a little embarrassed. "Tomorrow is still my night shift. Like this, I'm afraid I can't go. Can you cover the shift for me?"
Her tone pleaded. "If I ask for leave, I'll lose my full-attendance pay. Please, help me."
"Fine. Then tell me the work routine."
