Chapter 11 His Initials

For the next few days, Qin Zhimin took me to the Tattoo Shop in the morning, then went to the company. At night he got off work, picked me up, and we went home together.

Our relationship stayed in that delicate state.

Somehow, from the afternoon on, my head felt heavy and dull.

In the middle of the night my throat was terribly dry. I left my room and poured a cup of warm water.

My vision went black. I collapsed.

The whole cup spilled over me.

The noise must have been too loud. It disturbed Qin Zhimin in the next bedroom.

Half conscious, I felt someone lift me onto the bed in a rush.

A cold hand pressed to my forehead.

Soon the wet clothes were taken off me. After that I lost consciousness completely.

When I woke the next day, I could not move.

I opened my eyes. Qin Zhimin was lying on his side, holding me. On the nightstand sat a basin and two towels.

I struggled to sit up. The movement woke him.

"Awake?"

He reached out and felt my forehead, easy about it. "Good. The fever is down."

I pulled away, uneasy. From the corner of my eye I caught the clothes on the floor.

Those were not... my pajamas?

I flung the quilt back. The pajamas had been changed for another set.

"Your clothes were wet. I was afraid it would make you worse, so I changed them."

I had nothing to say. His face looked sincere, and I could not find words.

The air felt awkward. Qin Zhimin suddenly pulled me into his arms.

One hand locked around my waist and held me tight.

The other rested over my heart.

I went cold with shock. I had no time to fight.

Then I heard him.

"Song Sheng, my name is here."

"I saw it."

There was a look in his eyes I could not read.

"You still like me too, don't you?"

His tone was sure.

Worse, I found I could not argue.

Because what he said was the truth.

Because I had never let go, I had carved his initials in the place closest to my heart.

Seeing me silent, Qin Zhimin looked a little angry.

"Song Sheng, what exactly are you running from?"

"Can you give me a little more time."

Qin Zhimin watched me for a long time.

"How long."

"Half a month is enough."

"Fine."

Qin Zhimin told me to remember the medicine, then left.

As he had promised, he did not disturb me for that half month.

On the thirteenth day, I got an acceptance letter from the Milan design school.

I let out a long breath.

I could not wait to tell Qin Zhimin I had gotten in and could finally be a match for him.

I took out my phone. Just as I was about to dial Qin Zhimin, a text came in from an unknown number.
