Epilogue

Qin Zhimin took me to meet his parents.

Unlike last time, Madam Qin was much more polite to me.

For one thing, Qin Zhimin had fully taken over the company and become the top decision-maker of the Qin family.

For another, I was no longer a girl she could humiliate as she pleased. I had joined the headquarters of a top domestic luxury brand group, with an annual salary of several million. My career prospects were solid.

She stayed polite and kept her expression even.

After we finished the meal in peace, Qin Zhimin took me home.

When I got out of the car, he called me back.

"Song Sheng."

I turned. A large diamond ring appeared in front of me.

"I have kept this ring for many years. I do not know if I have the honor of giving it to you today."

I held out my hand without the slightest hesitation.

The ring sat on my middle finger and shone.

Qin Zhimin suddenly looked at me, very serious.

"I once met one of your roommates."

I was a little confused.

"It was Ling Yu," Qin Zhimin said. "She said you went to the class reunion five years ago to see me one more time."

"Yes. I heard you had come back then. I wanted to try my luck and see if I could meet you."

As I said it, I felt unhappy. "But you never looked at me once. You kept peeling shrimp for someone else."

"Sorry."

Qin Zhimin looked like he knew he was in the wrong. "Back then... I just wanted to make you angry. You had already given me up. I could not show that I still could not let you go. That would have been too shameful."

I kept a cold face and pretended to be angry.

Qin Zhimin lowered his eyes, looking a little wronged. "And... you really hated me then, didn't you? You left the moment you saw me come in."

I sighed. I could not keep up the act anymore.

I leaned in and held Qin Zhimin. "We would never be apart again."

A few snowflakes drifted through the half-open car window and landed on my head and Qin Zhimin's.

We looked at each other and smiled.
