Rory caught me off guard with her information about Kurt. A snitch within our camp was bad for business. The club being on the cops’ radar was bad for business. I was too close to leaving the game for anything to stop me.

“Is that the only reason you’re so stressed?” I asked.

Rory looked down, which shocked me because she was avoiding eye contact. Since meeting her, I’d only known her to be confident. Whatever bothered her must’ve been bad.

She let out a deep sigh. “The day we met, a courier approached me at the courthouse and gave me a package. Inside was a bouquet of twelve black roses with a note attached. It shook me up, but I chalked it up as a one-time thing until today.”

“What happened today?”

“Another delivery. This time, it came to my office. Same black roses with a different note. Someone is sending me subtle threats. I don’t know who it is or why they’re doing it. Now it’s freaking me out. It feels like someone is watching me.”

The worried expression on her pretty face made my blood boil. There was no way I’d let anything happen to her. “What are the notes saying?”

“The notes are threats. The first one sounded like a disgruntled client, while the note from today said something about my time being up. Both messages were vague and could be from anybody. I don’t want to be a burden to you, but I’m scared.

I went through hours of case files and came up empty.

I’m sure it’s a former client, but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around which one. ”

I watched Rory rub the glass in her hand. My first instinct was to tell her to pack up and come stay with me. I had to think of a way to keep her safe without interrupting her day-to-day life. She had clients depending on her.

“You’re not a burden. Now that you’ve told me, I’ll do whatever I need to protect you. I can send two dudes from the crew to hang out around your office while you’re at work. They can follow you to and from.”

“You don’t think that’s too much? I mean, I carry my gun everywhere except the courthouse.”

“That’s cool, but an extra set of eyes on you, I trust, won’t hurt. Keep your gun with you. Make sure you keep a bullet in the chamber just in case too.”

“I’ll do that. Thank you,” she said with a hint of sadness in her eyes.

“You don’t need to thank me. I got you like you got me. You’re always safe with me, sweetheart.” I placed a few pecks on her lips.

Dobbs and Curry took care of Alexis when Wolf needed them. I would have them look out for Rory.

“Go change. We need to go to the clubhouse so you can meet the crew.”

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“You’re with me, Rory. What happened to you going with the flow?” I asked.

She got up from the couch and went into her room to change. Ten minutes later, she was in a pair of jeans, a tank top, and a leather jacket. Rory walked over to the closet in the living room and grabbed a pair of leather boots.

“Look at you, trying to match my fly,” I teased.

She rolled her eyes at me, then opened the door.

I followed her toward the elevator. Her building was only five floors, and she lived on the third.

The first time I came, I scoped out all the exits.

There was a concierge at the front desk, but they were useless if something popped off.

Dobbs and Curry could each sit at an exit while she was here.

When we got to the lobby, I grabbed her hand as we walked out of the building. I expected her secretive ass to pull away. To my surprise, she gripped my hand tighter. The gesture made me smile. I walked her toward my Cadillac Escalade.

“Here I am, dressed to ride, and you didn’t ride your bike today,” she said.

“You look so good. I didn’t have the heart to tell you.” I laughed as I opened the door for her. After closing the door for her, I walked over to the driver’s side and climbed in. Rory had her arms folded over her chest.

I reached over and gave her a kiss. “I’ll bring the bike next time. If you wanna ride tonight, there’re bikes at the clubhouse, ya dig?”

“I think I’m good,” she said with a chuckle.

I shook my head as I pulled out to the spot.

As we drove, I stole glances at her. She pulled her hair into a bun, giving me the perfect view of her face.

When she grew tired of whatever was playing on the radio, she connected her phone to the Bluetooth and played Nipsey Hussle.

From her fit to her taste in music, I knew I had a keeper with Ms. Rory Towns.

A while later, we pulled into the gate at the clubhouse and parked.

Rory looked around, taking in her surroundings.

There were a couple of people outside, but none of any significance.

I hopped out of the car, pulled up my pants, and then walked over to her side.

After I opened the door, she got out. I took her hand and led her inside.

There was a party going on, which wasn’t unusual for the clubhouse. I gave a nod to everyone that called out to me. Dobbs and Curry could be anywhere, so I headed to look for Gavin. Rory held my hand tightly as we walked through the crowds of people until we reached Gavin’s office space.

Gavin’s office had a lot of different computer stations. He had views of our entire property and my cigar lounge. It was our security hub, after all. There were floor-to-ceiling cabinets inside that held our stockpile of guns, machetes, and various knives.

I knocked on the door as Gavin focused on the screen before him. He eventually turned around and saw Rory and me.

“What’s good, bro? Who’s this?” he asked.

“Gavin, this is Rory, my lady. Rory, this is Gavin, my bro,” I said, introducing them.

“Nice to meet you, Rory.” Gavin said.

“Nice to meet you as well,” Rory replied with a smile.

“Rory is having an issue. I need Dobbs and Curry on a security detail until we handle the issue. I brought her by to meet them,” I explained.

“Oh, aight. Let me call them. Their greedy asses probably went to get something to eat,” Gavin said.

I stayed and chopped it up with Gavin for another ten minutes before Dobbs and Curry appeared. They held bags from the local smash burger spot.

“What’s good, Brick?” Dobbs said as he entered the office.

Curry gave me dap before he walked over to his station.

“I need y’all help. This is my ol’ lady, Rory. She needs a security detail, starting tomorrow. I need y’all to keep an eye out while she’s at work and at her crib.”

“Nice to meet you, Rory. We got you, bro. She’ll be in good hands with us,” Curry said.

“Nice to meet you both,” she said.

Dobbs gave her a nod because he was busy stuffing his face.

“I’ll text y’all the addresses and time I need y’all. Good looking out,” I said as Rory and I left the office.

I walked around the clubhouse, giving Rory a tour. Big Will spotted me while we walked around the crowded lounge area. He walked up on me and playfully threw punches at my chest. When we stopped playing, I caught my breath to introduce him to Rory.

“OG, this is my ol’ lady, Rory. Rory, this is Will.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Will,” Rory said.

“Now, Brick, you’ve got to tell me how your ugly ass managed to get this beautiful woman not to run away from you,” Will teased.

“OG, you know better than that. Ain’t nothing ugly ’bout me. Stop clowning me in front of my lady,” Aasim replied.

“Nah, all jokes aside. It’s nice to meet you, Rory. You’re as beautiful as Brick said you were.”

“Thank you so much,” she said with a smile.

The party was in full swing and several more introductions were made.

Wolf and his wife Alexis made their way over to us.

Alexis took Rory to dance while Wolf, Will, and I chopped it up.

Rory was having a great time eating and throwing back drinks.

She came to find me when Cardi B came over the speakers.

When Rory started throwing her ass back on me, I knew she was feeling nice.

It was nice to see her let her hair down, especially after what she’d been through.

As long as she was throwing ass, I stood behind her to catch it.

“It’s hot in here. Can we go sit down somewhere?” Rory asked.

I took her hand and led her toward the meeting room to cool off. We were on our way to the meeting room when I spotted Angie. I cursed under my breath, and I hoped she didn’t say anything out of pocket. If she knew what was good for her, she wouldn’t speak.

“Brick, I’ve been calling you,” Angie said.

I guess her not speaking was wishful thinking. “I’m not sure what for. We don’t have anything to talk about.”

“You’ve been acting funny lately. I guess I can see why now. Don’t worry. You’ll be back. They all come back,” Angie said as she blew a kiss my way.

I kept walking to the meeting room without bothering to respond to her.

“Your little admirer is kind of bold. How long you think it’ll take before you go back to her?” Rory asked.

I sat down on the desk and pulled Rory in between my legs by her belt loops.

“I already told shorty I wasn’t fucking with her.

She’s obviously a little slow. I know you heard me introduce you as my lady.

You’re the only one I’m fucking with. You never have to worry about another woman.

I’m not that kind of dude.” I looked into her eyes to make sure she understood what I said.

Angie was no comparison to the woman Rory was.

I pulled my phone out and shot Gavin a text.

Me: Get Angie’s dumb ass out of here. Her privileges to the club are revoked.

“Gavin’s helping shorty exit as we speak. You’ll never see her here again.”

Rory slid her warm tongue into my mouth. I matched her energy and kissed her back. My hands roamed her body as my dick stiffened in my jeans. We needed to chill before I flipped her over onto this desk and fucked her.

“Sweetheart, chill before you give me blue balls. I’d love to fuck you right here, but you deserve more than that. We have plenty of time to explore each other,” I said as I placed soft kisses on her lips.

Rory had me turned on, and I needed to calm down.

The gentleman in me wanted our first time being intimate to be special to her.

If she didn’t get her soft hands off my dick, I wouldn’t be able to contain myself much longer.

After a few more pecks on the lips, Rory eased off me.

Relief came over me as my dick softened.

This wasn’t the time nor place for me to explore Rory’s body for the first time.

That time was coming sooner rather than later.
