Memphis
Just sex.
Any other guy would not only jump at the chance, but slip on their puddle of drool in the process.
But as much as my dick keeps pleading with me to take one for the team and fuck her out of my system for good, doing so would only create more problems.
“The only time I’ve ever truly enjoyed sex was with you.”
Those words shouldn’t impact me…but they do.
You’d think for all the sex that shithead has behind her back, he’d at least put in the effort to get his actual girlfriend off.
Selfish dumbass.
A selfish dumbass she loves.
Even though he can’t manage to satisfy her needs. Sexual or otherwise.
But I can.
I can spread those legs and make her come so fucking hard she…
“Why the fuck are there online articles claiming Sharp Objects loves little girls?”
Chandler’s grating voice—and statement—pull me from my thoughts.
What the hell?
My mind quickly returns to the meeting we’re in the middle of.
Chandler’s pacing the floor of his suite while screaming obscenities into his phone.
In other words, business as usual.
Aside from the shit he just spewed.
“Because Josh told the interviewer at Rolling Stone that, and I quote, ‘We love our young fans. Especially the hot ones,’” Alexis chirps.
Christ. What a bonehead.
Glaring at Josh, Skylar says what we’re all thinking. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
It would take a decade to list everything.
Josh shrugs. “They’re taking it out of context.”
“What context would it work in?” Folding her arms, she leans back against the couch. “I’ll wait.”
It’s clear Josh is struggling for an answer, so I do him a solid and start humming the Jeopardy theme song.
A moment later Storm and Phoenix join in.
“Would you assholes quit it?” Josh yells. “I’m trying to think here.”
By think? He means lie.
Frustrated, Sky throws her hands up. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Why the fuck did you let them print that?” Chandler bellows.
“I didn’t,” Alexis defends. “I had my assistant proof it.”
That only makes Chandler more irate. “Well, obviously she didn’t.”
“Well, obviously I need a new assistant,” Alexis shoots back.
Talk about stating the obvious.
However, these two going round and round about the shit that could have prevented this isn’t fixing the problem.
I open my mouth to tell them this, but Skylar’s face lights up like a kid on Christmas morning. “I can—”
“No,” Josh barks before she can finish her sentence. “Dammit, Skylar. We talked about this. Remember what happened when you were the merch girl for a weekend?”
Yeah, Josh couldn’t deal with her attention not being solely on him for more than two seconds, so he got drunk as fuck and didn’t make it out on stage.
Which fucked us up—and pissed Vic off—because it was not only our first ever tour, we were one of the opening acts.
She wilts like a flower deprived of sunlight. “But—”
“I need you, baby. You know that.”
Come on, Sky. Don’t sit there and let this needy douche stop you from doing something that you’d not only be great at, but seemed genuinely excited about.
She peers down at her shoes. “I know.”
Is she for real right now?
Where the fuck is that determined girl who went toe-to-toe with the principal and stripped down in the hallway to defend her friend?
Where’s that fearless girl who goes on a tire slashing spree when she’s pissed?
Where’s that sassy girl who always has a sarcastic comeback on the tip of her tongue and isn’t afraid to argue when she doesn’t get her way?
The other guys and I exchange a disappointed look.
Sky would be perfect for the job. Not only is she quick on her feet and a great problem solver, she isn’t some hotshot Vic hired. She actually knows us.
But even more important than that? We trust her.
Unable to stomach this, I rise to my feet. “I have shit to do.”
I don’t bother hiding my annoyance as I slam the door to Chandler’s suite.
The girl has clawed her way out of hell and survived shit that would destroy others and she’s going to let some clingy man baby call the shots and dictate her life?
It’s a good thing I’m not taking her up on her offer.
Because I have no desire to fuck whoever that weak, diluted version of her was back there.
Because that girl is his.
Not mine.
