18. Liath #2

I let out a yelp as he crushed me against the books, the shelving digging into my back, and his hand slid between my legs, finding my soaking cunt.

He circled my clit with his rough fingers before he thrust two fingers in.

I gasped, my pussy tightening around him, my nipples hardening to painful points against his chest.

“Fuck, I missed you,” Lorcan murmured, voice rough against my skin as he ruthlessly fucked me with his fingers.

“I missed you,” I said between moans as the tension began to rise in me. “Did you get into the Sons?”

He growled, a noise of pained frustration. “Don’t want to talk about them right now.” I heard his zipper undo and the clank of his belt. “God, I just need to feel you.”

He thrust his cock into me, raw and reckless, breath hot at my ear. He stretched me open, pushing in so deep I saw white behind my eyelids.

I felt the sharp press of his belt buckle digging into my hip as he ground his pelvis flush to mine, pinning me back against the shelf with a force that bordered on violence.

He began to fuck me with an unhinged possession.

The sound our bodies made was slick, wet, and desperate, obscene in the hush of the library. I dug my nails into his shoulder, needing something to hold on to, my thighs parting further as he thrust in and out of me with a possessive rhythm.

Every thrust was a claim, a question, an accusation.

Lorcan’s voice was low and ragged at my ear, alternating between curses and demands, the words blurring into the rhythmic slap of flesh and his own harsh breathing. His hand fisted in my hair, tugging my head back so he could see my face as he fucked me.

His hands slid down to my ass, lifting me off the floor so that my legs wrapped around his hips. My back arched, spine pressed into the cool wood shelving, and he levered me higher, fucking upward into me until stars pricked at the edges of my vision.

My head fell back with a cry. I opened my eyes to endless stacks, and my gaze locked on the figure up on the mezzanine stepping forward into the dim light.

Not a ghost. Not a shadow.

Deargán.

He glared down at us, at me, being fucked up against the shelving, books falling down around us.

Lorcan slammed into me harder, my back arching to take the brutal rhythm, my head thrown back in fever.

Lorcan grabbed my throat, applying firm pressure, just enough to make stars dance across my vision.

“Say it,” Lorcan hissed in my ear, his voice a knife against the pounding in my head. “Say that you’re mine. No matter what.”

I tried to say the words. But I barely managed a choked sound.

It was too much.

A ragged scream punched out of my mouth, my body shuddering hard around Lorcan. I came so hard I almost blacked out, vision narrowing to Lorcan’s icy blue eyes.

Lorcan came, pulsing inside me with a broken cry. He buried his face in my hair, the sound that slipped out of him low and raw, a breath that had been trapped in him for days.

“Jesus, Gray,” he murmured against my temple, voice scraped bare. “I missed you.”

A helpless sound left me as my hands fisted in his shirt. Relief hit so hard it almost hurt.

He smelled like rain and smoke and Lorcan, familiar and grounding in a way nothing else was. For a moment I simply leaned, letting my weight rest against him. Seven days should not have felt this long.

“I missed you too,” slipped out of me, soft and far too honest.

He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped me clean between my thighs before folding the cloth and putting it back in his pocket.

His thumb brushed along my cheek, gentler than he ever was with anyone else. His eyes softened in a way they only did when they looked at me. “Are you okay?”

Tell him.

I nodded. “Grand.”

A sick wave of guilt rolled through me.

When had I become this person who longed for Lorcan and lied to him in the same breath. The storm inside me felt too big, too tangled, and there was no clear way back out of it.

“Where did you go?” I asked him.

“I’m sorry. They were watching me,” he said quietly. “I had no choice but to stay away.”

“It’s okay,” I whispered. “You’re here now.”

He wrapped his arms around me even tighter, his fingers digging into my back like he didn’t quite believe I was real. Like if he loosened his grip, I’d disappear.

For a few stolen seconds, I closed my eyes and let everything else fall away. The Sons. Magdalene. The tower. Deargán.

It was just Lorcan and me.

“I passed the first test,” he said in a low voice.

My heart flipped in my chest as I opened my eyes to look at him. “What was it?”

His eyes flicked away, then dragged themselves back to mine. “Nothing big. Just a surveillance thing. They wanted to see if I could follow orders, keep my head down. Shadow someone. Pick up private details. That sort of shite.”

A small cold knot formed under my ribs which I tried to ignore. “Who did they make you follow?” They were Deargán’s words seeded into my mouth.

He shrugged. “Doesn’t matter. Just a test. I don’t know how many more they are going to throw at me.”

I studied him properly then. The shadows under his eyes. The tightness at the corners of his mouth. The way he would not quite hold my gaze for more than a heartbeat at a time.

“You look like you haven’t slept,” I said quietly. “Are you sure you’re alright?”

He gave a smile that did not reach his eyes. “Grand.”

He was keeping things from me.

I should push him. Dig deeper. But the lash of guilt held me back.

He was lying.

But so was I.
