Chapter 31
CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
Miranda & Renn
Miranda & Renn
“Are you sure you don’t want to go out for brunch? Your teammates said the place had the best French toast in the city,” Miranda whispered as she sank her head back into a plush pillow.
She was lying in Renn’s bed, in his new house in Atlanta.
After it was announced that he was the new quarterback of the Aces he had to move out of his condo.
Apparently, fans were swarming the building and management couldn’t deal with it.
Now they took turns staying at her place during the week and his on the weekends.
“No, I’m not letting you out of this bed, all day,” Renn said from underneath the covers, where his mouth was hovering over her stomach and his hands gripped the top of her sleep pants to peel them down her hips.
“As much as I like where your head is at, literally, that might be a problem.”
He groaned. “Why?”
“Because your family is arriving this afternoon.”
Renn pulled back the covers. “Why?”
“Because I invited them.”
“But there’s no game this weekend?”
“But tomorrow is your birthday and we wanted to celebrate with you tonight. And I don’t care if you don’t like a big party, or presents, or cakes with candles. I’m throwing you a birthday party and you’re going to like it.”
She could feel the smile spread on his face with his lips pressed against her skin. “How’d you know it’s my birthday?”
“Because I love you and I happen to know you’ve never had a birthday party with your brothers, grandmother, or me.”
Renn trailed his tongue up her abdomen as he pushed her shirt up. “Hmmm maybe you’re right—maybe I do need to rethink how much I like a birthday party. Especially if it involves having you as my gift.”
“And?”
“And I’m going to figure out how to show my gratitude.”
Next he pushed his warm hands over the bare skin of her abs as they slid up under her shirt and cupped her breasts. He rolled her tight nipples between his thumb and forefinger sending a rush of heat to her core.
“Oh, I am so ready for some gratitude, baby.”
Then he captured her right nipple with his mouth and bit just hard enough to send spikes of pleasure over her as his other hand cupped her sex. Slowly he ran his thumb through her wet folds and her hips bucked up off the bed.
“At least we have all morning for me to thank you,” he breathed into her ear. “Now roll over, baby.”
Eager to feel what he had planned she rolled away from him and was rewarded with the feel of his teeth on her shoulder.
She loved the way he understood how to give her exactly what she needed.
Not too rough, not too sweet, just a passion-filled coming together that always left her breathless and thankful she found him.
This man was her future, and she was ready to take their time enjoying every moment of it.
“Up on your knees,” Renn said as he pulled the covers off of them and gripped her hips from behind. “That’s my girl,” he praised her as she pushed her bottom up in the air and he reached between her legs, dipping his hand into her slick folds. “I’m going to enjoy every delicious drop.”
She arched her back pushing into his hard length and looked over her shoulder to see what he would do next. Then with one firm smack on her bottom, he had her panting with excitement.
“Don’t make me wait too long for you to prove I’m yours.”
His eyes were dark with desire as he smoothed her skin and looked down at her bare bottom, then lined up his hips with hers.
Next, he slid one hand up her back to grip her hair.
“I would never keep my girl waiting for anything she needed.” Then he sank halfway inside her from behind and goose bumps of pleasure spread over her skin.
She couldn’t resist the need to buck back into him, and he let her take in all of him as he pressed his hips forward.
Rocking on her knees she set the pace, knowing she couldn’t maintain it for much longer without falling apart into a million little pieces of ecstasy.
But she was going to try to drive him over the edge too and make sure his birthday celebration started and ended with pure pleasure.

Somehow Miranda had tricked Renn into taking a nap after they’d spent the morning in bed.
And when he woke up, she’d disappeared, but when he went downstairs he realized she’d transformed the first floor of their house into what looked like a kids’ party theme.
There were balloons lining the ceiling, banners saying Happy Birthday in big cartoon-style letters, and a huge cake in the shape of a football sat on the dining room table surrounded by gifts.
Outside there was a barbecue station, and what looked like several kids’ games set up.
But he couldn’t find her. Just when he was starting to wonder if he was dreaming, he heard the front door open and turned to find not one, but all three of his brothers and Gran walking in.
“Oh, looks like sleeping beauty is finally up,” Levi said with a big smile and walked over to give him a hug. “Happy birthday, brother.”
“Thanks.”
Dalton and Wes followed with the same enthusiasm.
“We’re excited to get the chance to spend the day with you and were just outside checking out your gift,” Gran said, giving him a gentle squeeze.
“What gift?”
“Oh no, you’re going to have to wait until Miranda says it’s time,” Wes warned.
“Should I be nervous?”
But before they could respond the door opened up again and a small white and brown puppy with pointy ears came bounding into the house and ran around his brothers to sit right at Renn’s feet.
“Puppy, come here before you ruin the…” Miranda said dashing inside. “Oh shoot. Happy birthday,” she yelled with a party hat on and her hands up.
Renn reached down and scooped the puppy up and the little guy licked his face. “You got me a dog?”
“Yep, I hope it’s okay. But you said you never had a pet as a kid and always wanted a dog of your own. Then one of the dogs out at Dixons’ had puppies and I thought maybe it was the perfect timing?”
“Hey, little buddy, are you going to be a good boy?”
“He’s already housebroken and crate-trained. He just might be a little lonely after having six siblings around the last ten weeks.”
“Oh, maybe we should adopt more of them?” Renn said.
Miranda laughed and hugged them both. “I was trying to convince your brothers they may also need a puppy—the rest of the litter is out in the garage. I think your gran already has her eye on the runt.”
“That’s a great idea,” Wes said. “I’d much prefer she have some constant companionship out at Hart House.”
“Two down, four more to go,” Miranda said. “Once the rest of the party guests arrive, I have no doubt we’ll find each of them a home. In the meantime, are you ready to start your party?”
Renn kissed her and smiled. “I’m ready to do whatever you say,” he said.
“Oh, good because we’re going to fit every classic childhood party event into this afternoon, starting with relay races.”
His brothers and Gran moved toward the yard, and Renn captured Miranda in another hug. “Looks like I’ll need to show some more gratitude later. I love you.”
“I love you too, forever.”
