Chapter Seven #2
Bending down he planted a kiss on her lips before she could step away. Just for a moment, but by the time he lifted his head, she was out of breath.
“Do you want to start in the bedroom?” he asked as he walked back toward his room. “Need any help with the measurements?”
Her insides a trembling mess by now, she shook her head. “No, thanks.” With her eyes on the way his jeans fitted around his butt, she followed him to the room.
“So you don’t want to move in with me?”
“No.”
“But I can see you?”
Turning away, she opened his closet. “I don’t think there’ll be time …”
“Abby?”
“Yeah?”
“Look at me.”
Sighing, she looked over her shoulder at him.
“Do you want to see me again?”
“I just don’t think …”
“It’s a very simple question, Abby. Do you want to see me again?”
For another moment she stared at him. “You know I do.”
His smile buckled her knees. Fortunately, she could hold on to the closet doors.
“I’ll be in the kitchen.” Smiling, he strutted out.
Damn man. Her eyes fell on the sheets on his bed.
Midnight black linen sheets. A fist of desire so unexpected, had her gasping for breath.
Quickly opening her notebook, she gulped in some much-needed air.
Measurements, order—that’s why she was here.
Drooling over a cowboy was so not part of her job description.

By the time Abby had finished the measurements in the house and they were in his truck driving back to Marietta, Carson was ready to explode. Watching her crouching down or bending over things, chewing her lip while she wrote down measurements, had sent his blood way above boiling point ages ago.
He’d picked up her hand as they’d left the ranch, but even after racking his brain, he couldn’t find the right words to express what was inside of him.
As he stopped in front of the B & B, Abby quickly pulled her hand out of his. “I’m sorry you had to bring me back. I could’ve asked June.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You’re angry because you had to drive all the way into town to bring me back.” She moved to open the door.
“Damn it, Abby,” he growled as he picked her up and dragged her closer.
Cupping her face with unsteady fingers, he inhaled deeply.
“I’m not angry, I’m frustrated. Do you have any idea how much I want you right now?
You’ve been in my house, driving me insane and I can’t touch you.
All I think about is kissing you again, touching you, making sure your skin is as soft as I remembered. ”
“This is such a bad idea.”
“Does that mean I may kiss you?”
With a groan, her hands slipped around his neck and their lips met fervently. His hands quickly found her soft skin underneath her T-shirt. Soft. Velvet. Her familiar scent clouded his senses.
As his hands covered her breasts, he lifted his head. “Color?”
“Red.” It was barely a whisper, but the soft word was enough to send his blood way beyond boiling point.
“Damn it, Abby …” His groan filled the inside of the truck.
The sound of a car approaching finally penetrated his lust-filled mind.
Abby turned her head and quickly scrambled away. “I … I have to go.”
“Hang on,” he said as he got out his wallet. “Here’s my card. Will you do me a favor?”
“Of course. What else do you need?”
“Buy another red one?”
Her breath hitched. “Carson …”
A car stopped next to his truck. Annie and Craig were back.
“Damn it, Abby,” he growled. “I have to be alone with you and soon.”
Giving him a saucy smile, she opened the door. “Aren’t you going to say hello to Annie and Craig?”
“I can’t move at the moment …”
Her eyes dropped. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh. Just wait a minute, will you?” He grabbed her hand so that she didn’t slip out again.
Opening his window a fraction, he waved to Annie and Craig. “I’m on my way back,” he said.
“The invitation for that drink stills stands,” Craig called out as he waved, before he put an arm around Annie, steering her toward the house.
“I have to go,” Abby said, trying to pull her hand from his.
“Are you coming to the ranch tomorrow?”
“We’re going shopping in Bozeman, remember?”
“Dinner tomorrow night?”
Shaking her head, she groaned. “I don’t think …”
Leaning forward, he kissed her. “Please?”
“Okay, two conditions.”
“Okay, what?”
“First, you put everything that’s cluttering your kitchen away.
Whatever doesn’t give you joy or that you don’t use or don’t want anymore, put it in bags.
One to give away and one to throw out if it won’t be of use to anyone.
Keep only the things that give you joy. Just the kitchen for now. And I want to see a photo afterward.”
“Seriously?”
She nodded. “Seriously.”
He couldn’t help it, he burst out laughing.
“Okay and the other one?” he asked when he could talk again.
“We can’t do this …” she motioned between them.
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean. The touching, the kissing … we’ve made lo—We’ve had sex, but I don’t know anything about you. Let’s get to know one another before we jump into bed again. You may not even like me when you get to know me.”
Leaning forward, he tried to kiss her, but she pulled away. “I’ve just said …”
Pulling her closer, he kissed one side of her mouth. “You’ve just dropped this bomb,” he whispered as his mouth slid to the other side, “I have to kiss you again …”
Giving her ample time to pull away should she want to, he pressed his mouth gently against hers.
“You drive me insane,” she murmured as she grabbed his head between her hands and kissed him. Just for a moment, then she was opening the door.
He opened his door. “Wait, I’ll help you out.”
“Oh, now you can move?”
“There’s no one else to see me but you, and you already know what you do to me.” Quickly, he got out, inhaling the cool, fresh fall air.
As he helped Abby down, he hugged her close. “You feel how much I want you?” he whispered in her ear.
Her breath hitched. “Carson …”
“And we didn’t just have sex, Abby we made love, exactly as you were going to say.”
Inhaling shakily, she stepped away.
Out of breath, he had to put a hand out to steady himself against his truck. “Go, before I drag you back into my truck and have my way with you.”
With a soft giggle he felt right down to the soles of his feet, she ran toward the front door.
The woman was killing him and she was giggling.
