Chapter 31
Dorian - two weeks later
“Excuse me, you left your shoes at the bar,” I say, my eyes falling to Edie’s bare feet propped against the coffee table. She’s wearing a sleek, black, knee-length dress that rides up her thighs, making my hands twitch to touch her.
Edie turns her head towards me just as she did the day we met, her gaze smoldering as it travels up my body. Her smile is slow, her eyes sparkling with the memory of our first encounter. She takes a sip from her glass of blood, resting it on the coffee table.
“May I join you?”
“Don’t tell me you’re my Prince Charming and I’m your Cinderella, because I can assure you, whilst those are my shoes, my feet are so swollen from wearing them all day no amount of shoving them back in will make them fit.”
I grin, dropping onto the seat beside her as I play along. “Then allow me to massage your feet.”
Edie shifts along the banquette, lifting her feet into my lap, her eyes drifting shut as I press my thumbs into the soles of her feet.
“I could get used to this,” she says, her body relaxing. “I’m curious. What other tricks do you have up your sleeve? I already know you’re terribly good with your hands.”
“Just my hands?” I ask, lifting her foot to my mouth and kissing her toes, grateful the bar is empty and I don’t have to pry the eyes out of anyone who might dare to look her way.
Her eyes snap open, lust billowing within their depths. “Your mouth is rather talented, too.”
“What about my cock? Does that please you, Edie?”
She tilts her head, her silky hair cascading around her shoulders, a spark of mischief lighting up her face. “It’s not quite as good as my favourite vibrator—”
Launching forward, I grasp her hips, pulling her onto my lap. She straddles my hips, her dress hitching around her waist. “Don’t insult me,” I warn, just as playfully, before rocking my hips so she can feel how much she turns me on. “You know nothing can get you off better than I can.”
Edie lowers her head, brushing her lips across mine. “I’m not sure I do. Perhaps I need a reminder of just how impressive your cock is.” My fangs drop, and Edie smiles against my lips before drawing back. “Have Logan and Viktor forgiven you yet for lying to them?”
“Why are we talking about them right now? This is about my cock, remember?”
“Answer the question, Dorian. Then we’ll get back to your cock.”
“Logan took the news harder. He’s still angry that I never told him about the curse and what Basilia did, but he’ll come around. Viktor, of course, took it in his stride.”
“Good.” She tips her head to her side, thoughtful for a moment as she coasts her fingers up my arm and across my shoulder before circling the pulse at my neck. Her touch is gentle, and I swallow a moan.
“Tell me, can a vampire drink from another vampire?”
“Vampire blood won’t sustain us in the same way human blood does, but the answer is yes.”
“And will it feel the same way?”
“Yes, our bite will make desire more intense, even between vampires.”
“That’s good to know.” She smiles, her fangs descending as she reaches up and tugs on my hair, urging me to stretch out my neck. When her lips glide over my skin, I shudder, and when her fangs pierce my flesh, I groan, my eyes rolling in my sockets. “Fuck, Edie.”
The gentle pull as she drinks, combined with the way her hips roll, ignites a wildness in me I can’t contain a second longer.
Sliding my hands up her bare thighs, I curl my fingers around the elastic of her knickers and rip them from her skin.
She gasps, her fangs tugging from my neck, her eyes wild with lust and love as her tongue swipes over her teeth, licking the scarlet of my blood clean.
My hand reaches between her legs, finding her wet and wanting, and when I slide two fingers inside of her, she groans, her body shuddering.
“Give me your cock,” she demands, her hands resting on my shoulders as she lifts upwards.
“Patience is a virtue, you know,” I reply, my thumb pressing against her clit teasingly.
“I said, give me your cock,” she throws back.
Withdrawing my hand with a lazy smile, I unzip my trousers, pulling my dick free from my boxers. Grasping the base, I fix my eyes on hers, lining myself up with her entrance.
“Take it, Edie. Let me show you how good I can make you feel.”
Her fingers curl into my shoulders, and in one quick movement, she takes all of me right down to the base.
“Fuuuuuuck,” I groan, her internal muscles gripping me tight, wrapping me in heat and liquid pleasure.
She falls forward and captures my mouth with hers.
Her tongue slides between my lips, curling around my tongue, searching, exploring in a desperate kiss.
It’s always like this with Edie. Every kiss, every touch, every moment I enter her body is an act of worship.
No matter how many times we’re intimate, it’s never enough.
I always want more. I will never tire of the rush of love that blooms outwards from my chest, the connection between us stronger, deeper than anything I’ve ever known.
“I love you, Dorian Crow,” she whispers against my lips, rocking against me. “I love you so much I fear I’ll never be the same again.”
“You aren’t the same, Edie. You’re more than you were before, not just because you're a vampire, but because you’re a beautiful, intelligent, brave woman who sacrificed herself for a man who never believed he’d have the capacity to love, who loved a monster despite everything.
You are the beat of my heart. You are the throb in my veins.
You are the reason I am more man than vampire. You are the reason I’m alive today.”
And this time, we don’t fuck. We make love.
Free from the curse that threatened to destroy us, we make love without pain, without restraint, with all the emotions a human heart can feel. And though we are vampires, that humanity lives in us still. It will live within us for all eternity from this day forward.
