Chapter 54
A Wake Up Call
Kodi
Iwoke up with the headache of all headaches and I couldn’t tell if I’d just gotten that drunk last night or if my body was reaching the point where drinking all night came with drastic consequences. Well … drastic physical consequences — surely I didn’t flash anybody again.
Though I do have vague memories of being at a tattoo parlor.
“Fuck!” I shot up, looking around the hotel room for clues as to what happened last night.
Everything was so blurry and my head hurt so much, I wasn’t even sure if Langston buying the team and offering me my dream job was real.
If that turned out to be a drunken haze, I'll need somebody to figure out what drink I had so I could get it again and live in that delusion forever.
“You all right?” Olli said through a mouthful of toothpaste as he peeked around the corner of the bathroom.
“Did I get a stupid tattoo?” I asked, voice high pitched. Hesitantly, I ran my hands over my arms and legs, searching for the sensitive skin of a new tattoo. Olli grumbled something before returning to the bathroom. There was some spitting and running water before he came back out.
“No, Brooker and I managed to get everyone out of there before that. Though it sounded like the parlor would’ve turned us down, anyway.”
“Oh, thank god.” I sighed, collapsing back in bed. That was a mistake.
“Hold on, I’ve got some aspirin in my bag.”
I kept my eyes closed tightly as Olli went about the room to get me medicine, holding out my hand when he came next to me.
He placed the pills in my hand and I tossed them back before downing my water bottle.
Mostly hydrated, I sat back up, eyes still closed, and asked the scary question.
“Did I really get the job or was last night a total drunken delusion?”
The bed shifted as Olli sat down and wrapped me in his arms.
“It was real. You’re our social media manager, we’ve got a new owner, and everything is good.”
I turned into his hug and fucking bawled. All the stress and angst and worrying was finally done and now my body just needed to let it all out.
“Fuck, Kodi, baby, this is good. Why’re you crying?”
“Because I’m so relieved,” I said. “And maybe a little hungover. But mostly relieved.” I took a few deep breaths to calm down and looked up at Olli. The soft smile on his lips, something I thought I’d never see a few months ago, was perfect. It was him, soft and sweet and just for me.
I climbed onto his lap and shoved him to the bed.
He laughed, the sound deep and airy, before I cut it off with a kiss.
Without anything weighing me down, no job anxiety or worry we’d be caught, I kissed him the way I wanted him to fuck me, roughly.
Grinding over his cock, I nipped at his bottom lip, making him groan.
And when he grabbed my arm as I started sliding it under his shirt, I grinned, knowing I was going to get exactly what I wanted.
“Kodi, do you wanna go out on a date?” he asked, voice ragged as he grabbed my waist to stop my grinding.
“Umm, maybe later? After we fuck?”
“Or we can go out on our first date and then fuck."
“Ugh,” I groaned as I got off him. “How dare you be a gentleman when I’m horny?”
“Well, seeing as we have to go in to HR and report our relationship tomorrow, I figured we might want to go on an actual date.”
“Hmph.” I crossed my arms and chewed at my lip. “Do you have a plan?”
“There’s a mini golf place down the road. Next to a nice-looking bakery. Figured we could go there before our flight.”
“That doesn’t leave us much time for fucking, though,” I pouted, even as I fought a smile. I liked how he remembered my mini golf suggestion and found one next to coffee.
“I’ll make up for it when we get home,” he promised, pressing a kiss to my cheek, then my jaw, then below my ear.
And fuck, he already found the way to make me say yes to anything.
“All right,” I said, sighing as he pressed another kiss to my neck. “But coffee first, all right?”
“Of course.”
A knock on the door had us both groaning, but Olli grabbed it while I got ready in the bathroom.
“Hey, man, do you wanna —” I heard Brooker say as soon as the door opened.
“No. We’re going to mini golf for —” Olli said, voice gruff, but not as asshole-y as he once was.
“Oh, shit! That sounds fun. I’ll tell the guys.”
“No!” Olli shouted, the sound quickly followed by some shuffling and the door slamming shut.
I couldn’t make out what they were saying through the door, but I couldn’t help giggling as I changed my outfit plans from ‘drive Olli insane as revenge for making me wait for sex’ to ‘fun with friends/colleagues.’
