34. Karma #3
“What are you two doing?” Soren shouts, snapping me out of my internal plotting.
“This fucking weirdo is trying to compare our dicks.”
I sit up and watch as Spiral attempts to press the side of his upper cock to Micha’s, who promptly pushes him away.
“I’m curious,” the clown grumbles.
“I’ll easily win this competition,” Soren snorts.
“Hey! That’s not fair!” Arlo whines. “You have a tentacle that’s, like, a metre long, and Spiral has two of them. We’ve just got normal human penises.”
“Normal? Speak for yourself,” Micha scoffs. “Mine’s above average.”
“I’d say it’s more than above average.” Arlo smiles as Micha walks across the room and presses a kiss to his lips.
“Thanks, Pipsqueak. Yours is big too. Don’t worry.”
Arlo laughs, and they lie down together. I rejoin them as Spiral bounces over, curling up at my feet like the well-trained puppy Micha has created.
“I’ve not seen Snake for a while. Is he okay?” Arlo asks.
“Yeah, he’s okay. He likesss to disappear every now and then.”
“And he probably doesn’t want to watch you get fucked religiously,” Soren adds.
“Good,” Arlo sighs, ignoring Soren’s remark. “I was worried he’d died or something.”
“Can he die?” Micha asks, sitting up and looking down at me. “Can you die?”
I stare at him like a deer in headlights. I have no idea.
Does Kreo know?
It’s crazy to think how being around these men has expanded my mind.
I was so focused on hunting, on keeping to myself, that I never questioned what Kreo said or did.
But the more they make me realise that there’s more to life than this, that I can control my urges—to a certain degree—the more my mind wants to ask questions.
“Kreo’s diaries might have the answer,” Spiral yawns, snuggling up to my feet and drifting off.
I don’t think he meant to tell me that, but he’s right. Kreo is always writing in his diaries about me. Always asking questions, doing tests, examining reactions. But they’re off-limits to everyone, even Spiral.
The rest of the men don’t seem to clock the whirlwind currently taking place in my mind.
Spiral is already asleep, and Soren, Micha, and Arlo start getting dressed to get on with the plan.
They aren’t aware of the conflict in my brain, the ideas spinning at a mile a minute.
They’re not interested in the diaries; they want to get out of here.
But I am.
When Soren holds out his hand to drag me up, I smile and pretend everything’s fine.
“I’ll be seeing you tomorrow, darling.”
“Everything will be okay,” Arlo adds, but I think he’s trying to convince himself more than anyone.
“Just keep an eye on that one,” Micha says in my ear, nodding at Spiral curled up on the floor and snoring away. “Make sure he doesn’t go crazy and ruin the plan.”
I nod, but it’s not Spiral he needs to be worrying about.
“Are you okay, Karma?” Arlo asks, ever the caring one of the group.
“Yesss,” I lie, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him. His worries float away as his hands find my waist, and he devours my mouth.
“See you tomorrow, Stitches.” Micha presses a kiss to my cheek before taking Arlo by the hand and leading him away. As I watch them go, my stomach dips, this unfamiliar feeling of uncertainty overcoming me.
“Come on. Let’s get this clown back to his tent and lock me up.”
Soren scoops up a snoozing Spiral with ease and returns him back to the mattress in his tent.
We cross the grass in the early morning sun to the forbidden trailer.
It feels crazy that not so long ago, I wouldn’t have looked twice at this thing, let alone have four boyfriends who have convinced me to leave my life behind.
Soren grimaces as he gets back in his cage, slipping the key from around his neck. I lock him in, the click sounding final, and I guess it is.
“Be careful, Karma.”
“I will.”
He reaches a hand through the bars, grabs mine, and kisses each finger. “I love you. You know that, don’t you?”
I kneel and press my forehead to the bars. He matches me, and in this moment, I know how true his words are.
“I love you, too.”
The distant sound of an engine makes me jerk away.
“Kreo,” I exhale.
“Quick. Back to your tent. And remember, Karma. He can’t know.”
I nod, but the look in his eyes tells me he’s not fully convinced.
I slip out of the trailer, pick the padlock off the floor, and seal Soren inside.
The approaching car is on the other side of the show tent, slowly making its ascent, and I quickly run across the grass.
I throw the key into Spiral’s tent as I go because he had it in his care before everything went upside down.
Dolly and Moxie watch me like owls from their tent, but I ignore them and dive into my own as the front of Kreo’s car rounds the corner.
I forgot about those two. Dolly won’t say anything, but Moxie could tell Kreo what’s been happening since he left. I lie on my mattress, staring up at the ceiling and debating if there’s a chance that I can sneak away and kill her, but a car door slams shut in the distance.
Kreo’s here.
Showtime.
