Chapter Ten
That Field
That Moment Of Healing
Late Afternoon
Never let it be said that he didn’t understand this was the best possible outcome. On this one, Ethan Blackhawk had dodged one hell of a bullet and actually made the right choice by chasing down his wife.
It was crystal clear that she needed him as much as he needed her.
Now, it was time to find each other again.
Taking his wife into his arms, he scooped her up, and carried her toward the soft grass in the middle of the field. He put her down and then headed back to the horse. There, he took the saddle off and grabbed the blanket that had been under it.
It appeared they were going to have a little picnic in the flowers.
And she was the meal.
Ethan couldn’t remember the last time he’d had any time alone with her, and now, he was going to show her why they were together.
There was chemistry there.
There was love.
There was healing.
Heading back to her, he spread it out, and then opened his arms to his wife.
It was time to show her that he did want to love and protect her, like he’d vowed all of those years ago.
“Thank you for coming for me,” she said.
Oh, there was no need to thank him.
“I told you I’d find you in the world, Elizabeth, and I meant every word of it. Consider yourself no longer lost. You’re found. I found you again.”
And she was.
Without a word, Ethan found her mouth, and the heat exploded around them. There was that reconnection that had somehow gotten broken.
But that ended here.
One of the reasons their unit worked, and so well, was because when one person was floundering, they were protected and helped back to their feet.
Like now.
Elizabeth needed to know it was okay to lean on them, and be herself for a little while as she rested.
Ethan would carry her.
Everything fell away, but that moment, and in that field of flowers, there was more than just beauty.
There was value.
There was desire.
There was love.
Breaking the kiss, he stared into her eyes, making another promise to Elizabeth.
“I will always be here for you to hide when it’s too much out there in the world. I won’t let you down. I’ll protect you, Elizabeth. I promise.”
It was a very important vow.
Because she needed it.
“I need you, Ethan,” she admitted. “I need someone to hold up the weight for a while. I’m tired.”
And there it was.
“All you had to do was ask, or more importantly, I should have seen it and handled it for you. I’m sorry I’ve not been there for you. I’m here for you now.”
As she touched his face, he turned his head to leave a kiss on the inside of her palm, sealing that vow to her.
He’d do better.
Because if she wasn’t able to hold up, they’d make sure she didn’t feel alone, like they had abandoned her.
Because he wanted his wife, he began pulling off his things, and she did the same thing.
It was fast.
Frenetic.
Full of heat.
That wildness told the tale. They needed to come back to the center where they’d once flourished.
Ethan needed his woman.
“My wife,” he whispered as that need for her took over. It overcame him, making him forget everything but her. She was so important and always would be.
Forever.
When they were both naked, he scooped her back up and laid with her on the blanket. All around them, the flowers surrounded the little space, making them feel lost in a field of flowers.
From her back, Ethan’s wife stared into his eyes.
“I didn’t think anyone would come for me,” she whispered as he stared down at her.
That broke his heart.
How could she think they’d let her do this alone? They broke her, and he’d fix her.
“I’ll always come for you. That’s my promise, Elizabeth. I swear.”
It was clear that she needed to hear that.
The scent of his wife overwhelmed him, and all Ethan wanted was to get lost in her.
In her eyes.
In her love.
In her body.
He left kisses across her flesh, and the whole time, Ethan was focused on one thing.
Loving Elizabeth.
“I never want to forget this moment,” he said, enjoying the taste of her flesh.
His woman smelled like spicy cookies, and that familiarity that gave him so much peace.
It called to him.
For him, this was also a constant. Elizabeth’s scent made him hard.
Well, harder.
There was nothing he loved more than just being able to be with someone he loved, and this woman captured his heart many years ago.
Without her, there would be no him.
When his fingers wandered, she moaned.
It was that sound of pleasure that fed his, making him ravenous for her.
“Lyzee, my love,” he whispered, the sound sending waves of pleasure across his whole body.
It was beyond erotic.
Together, they explored, letting hands wander and lips follow.
As she found his erection, Elizabeth wrapped her fingers around it.
Ethan’s heart skipped in his chest at that delicious familiarity that was his woman.
There was no doubt he’d love her forever. No other woman had a place in his heart other than his daughters.
Only them.
“More,” he whispered, needing more.
As the flowers waved in the breeze, and the sun was falling lower on the horizon, they took that moment to be together.
His request for more was given and shared.
As Elizabeth continued to stroke his erection, Ethan left bites and nips on her flesh, sharing his soul with her.
In that field of flowers, they stayed skin-on-skin so that he could help her heal.
Elizabeth needed him, and that was all that mattered to Ethan.
Saving.
Her.
There was no better feeling in the world than to be her hero once again.
This was so valuable.
“I love you,” he said. “I’ll love you until the day I die, my wife. No matter where you go, I’m following. You’re home.”
Yeah, she believed him.
Why?
Because he came for her, and he was giving her the one thing she needed.
He hadn’t lost faith in them.
Not.
At.
All.
As his mouth moved down her body, touching, tasting, and enjoying his woman, Elizabeth moaned in pleasure.
“Ethan,” she whispered.
There was finally a silencing of the demons that had made her run, and the wickedest of them all found her again.
Ethan.
The love she felt for him was so overwhelming that it almost made her want to cry now more than ever. That sadness of being lost was gone.
There.
Was.
Peace.
She whimpered in pleasure as his mouth drove her wild. Ethan was hitting all the right spots, sending fire across her body as he traveled lower.
She was lost in that pleasure and so grateful that someone had saved her.
Holy shit!
That hopelessness was gone.
As he left open-mouthed kisses on her flesh, they went from gentle to heated, making Elizabeth feel as if she was burning up.
She never wanted it to stop.
Someone was wild, and that was exactly how she liked him.
“EJ,” she whispered.
As his body was above hers, Elizabeth reached out and ran her fingers down his chest, across the raven tattoo, and over corded hips.
With each caress, his body shook.
Yeah, they still had this. His reaction told the story, and it was a beautiful one.
It was their love story.
And it hadn’t reached its end.
Rolling, she got him flat on his back, his erection pinned between them.
The whole time, he was watching her with his midnight-dark eyes. In them, there was love.
In them, there was need.
“I do like when you trap me beneath you,” he joked. “It’s my favorite place to be.”
She grinned at him.
Oh, well, the view was pretty spectacular.
“Lyzee my love,” he whispered, as he enjoyed the view of his gorgeous wife above him.
When she grabbed his erection, roughly, that heat shot through his whole being, and his body arched.
Oh, someone was enjoying the playground, and if that was what she needed to heal, he was here for it.
Literally.
Elizabeth couldn’t remember the last time they had time alone, or a sweet moment like this, and she wanted to make it a memory.
“Please” he whispered, the second he knew what she was planning.
Oh, he wanted nothing more than Elizabeth to enjoy his body because when she was done, he was doing the same.
Slowly, she slipped him between her lips and stroked him at the same time.
The response was exactly what she expected.
“YEESSSSSS!” he shouted.
Elizabeth began blowing him wildly and wickedly.
“Your mouth…,” he whispered.
Oh, that sound of desperation was music to her ears. There was nothing she loved more than making him beg.
As she ran her mouth up and down his erection, letting her teeth scrape those sensitive spots, his body shook from the pleasure.
It had been too long.
This refueled her tank, and she wanted nothing more than to make this connection with Ethan again.
When she took him deep down her throat, the wild moan of pleasure was so loud that it echoed across the field,
With his hands in her hair, Ethan held on, fighting that overwhelming need to tumble.
If there was one woman who could make him lose control, it would be her.
And only her.
To keep the pleasure going, Elizabeth tormented Ethan’s erection to the point his body bucked.
Oh, he was so hard, and she knew that he was fighting tooth-and-nail not to slip.
That made her want to make him take that tumble.
As she blew him, Ethan’s hand knotted in her hair, and his begging became louder.
It was when her lips touched the base of his erection that he swore on everything that was holy in the world that he was going to die from the pleasure overload.
“Elizabeth!”
Oh, Ethan never wanted this to end.
As his woman did something particularly wicked with her tongue and teeth, his whole body vibrated in lust.
“Please!” he begged with his body bowing from the torment that sent shockwaves through his whole being.
Only, she didn’t let up.
In fact, she worked him harder.
Elizabeth loved nothing more than to push Ethan from his comfort zone and into this free-for-all of pleasure.
Ethan opened his eyes and shared what was about to happen if she didn’t cut him a break.
“I’m about to cum,” he muttered. “I need to cum,” he corrected.
Oh, she wanted that.
Seeing Ethan lose control was always a thing of beauty. Him sharing that reaction to her touch healed even more in Elizabeth.
The desperation in his voice was addictive, and she wanted to hear more and more.
