Epilogue

UNKNOWN

They think they can take him from me, can lock him away, and stand guard. But don’t they know I have tricks up my sleeves? That I have a magic deep inside of me that even the best shaman can’t rival? I’m a fae, a powerful one. As ethical as I can be while staying true to who I am.

They should have seen what I did to reclaim our sacred land, how I took back what they desecrated.

My fingers curl into the trunk of a tree, and I peer around it, seeing the shack they put him in.

It’s been two days. Two days since I’ve seen him.

Mine, my body thrums.

He’s mine.

My mouth forms words as I begin to chant. Ancient power thrums through me, and I feel the branches of the tree respond. It wants to move, wants to come alive.

“Not now, my love,” I whisper as I reach out my hands and step toward the door. It flings off its hinges and into the dirt, and I can see Red standing inside, his eyes wide, his mouth parted.

He shouldn’t be surprised I’m here.

He doesn’t belong to this pack anymore.

He belongs to me. He made that mistake.

I can hear shouts in the distance, and I reach out toward him. He takes a step back for a second, hesitating, but then moves toward me, his fingers threading with mine.

And in a flash of light and a gust of wind, we’re gone.

Thank you for reading!

Arbor’s heritage is still a bit of a mystery, and we don’t know much about the fae yet—but we will. I promise.

When Red’s book comes out, we’ll uncover so much more. Just wait.

This world is growing with every story. Each book reveals a little more of its magic.

For now, the next book will be Forest’s.
