Diary Entry 15
One Year Ago
Dear Twila,
Today was the day. Book two released! Even though I don’t have a huge following of readers, there were a few people who showed excitement for me online.
I texted Dad to remind him about my signing, but I guess something came up.
He’s so busy, you know? He couldn’t make it.
So I texted him a link to my new book in case he wanted to get a copy to support me that way.
He said he would have Scarlett order one, so we know how that will end …
I could gift him one for a holiday. Though, the copy I gave him of my first book disappeared after Scarlett “reorganized” his home office.
So maybe I’ll just accept that he doesn’t want a copy of his daughter’s nearly-complete trilogy.
I still had hope for the day, though. I reached out to Bradley, reminding him about how important today was for me. He told me congratulations. I secretly hoped he’d offer to take me out to celebrate or maybe even go an extra mile by getting me flowers. But he was busy with work, too.
I ended up coming home by myself. I’m eating celebratory sushi while I write to you. It’s really delicious. And I have my favorite Korean drama on. So it’s great. I’m great. I’m alone, but it’s fine. I’m fine.
I’m fine.
Congratulations, me.
