Forgotten Folios Rare Book Shop usually sent my partner, James, to meet clients, but an accident kept him in New York, so I took the train to Hart's Leap, Massachusetts, in his place.

I was there to see Zebulon Hart, an eccentric book collector whose old manor stood beyond an eerie marsh crowded with strange sculptures.

My host attacked and drugged me, and I woke a year and a half later with that entire span gone from memory, no idea where I was, and someone trying to kill me.

My only ally is an insurance investigator who says he has pursued me for months over a rare book I supposedly stole and his firm wants back.

I have to learn what filled that missing year, because the answer will decide not only my fate but humanity's.
