Chapter 98 The Fairy’s Song

Reiya stood up and walked over to the river’s edge. It had been over an hour. Chelsie should have been back a long time ago. Something was wrong. That damn Olga did something to her. I’ll kill her!

“Reiya.” Lee walked up behind her and slid his arms around her waist.

“I have to go. I can’t lose Chelsie too.” She turned her head to look up at Lee. “Maybe I can call for Rowan to take me to the underwater area. It’s too far down for me to make it on my own.”

Lee chuckled. “Sweetheart, you do know you’re mated to a water dragon, right? I’ll take you.”

“But I thought you couldn’t go down there because of the barrier.”

“That was before. Now that I’m linked to you, I can go anywhere you can.

But listen, you don’t have your wolf right now, since she’s exhausted.

So, remember that and let me handle any rough business.

” Lee hated taking her into potential danger, but at the same time, he knew she couldn’t lose Chelsie, too.

“Thank you, Lee … for understanding that I need to go for her.”

“We are not losing anyone else.” Lee turned his head to Xander and Lila. “You guys wait here in case Chelsie returns. We’re going to see if there’s something wrong.”

“Okay, please be careful.” Xander didn’t like the idea of not being near Reiya.

The witch doctors were a prime example of how Xander and Reiya were stronger together.

They couldn’t even touch them with their magic.

Levi was with her, though, and he knew no one would be able to touch her with a predator like him at her side.

Lee shifted into his dazzling blue dragon, tilted his head to the side, and lifted Reiya up onto his back. With a few powerful flaps, they lifted off and were soaring in the air. Reiya scanned the ground below them the entire time for any sign of Chelsie.

You don’t think she was hurt, do you?” Reiya’s voice cracked as she thought about how she could lose both Chelsie and her unborn child.

“I’m sure there was just a delay. If anything happened because of the Merrow Queen, there will no longer be a Merrow Queen,” Lee said darkly.

The nice thing about flying was that what took a whole day of walking only took fifteen minutes, what with Lee’s speed.

Lee landed at the bottom of the falls where Reiya directed, then shifted back to his human form.

He immediately scooped Reiya into his arms, and she guided him toward the cavern behind the falls.

Reiya’s heart was racing. There was no sign of Chelsie. Not that she would have seen a sign of her, though, since Chelsie traveled in the water.

Lee squeezed her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile.

He could hear her heart pounding. Deep down, he was concerned.

Reiya couldn’t take another blow. He was afraid he would lose her within herself.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Reiya was always meant to be happy being by his side.

Indirectly, she was in pain because of him.

As much as he needed her, maybe he should have kept his distance from her.

What am I thinking? I could never stay away from her.

I need her too much. I just wish I could make everything better for her. Please let Chelsie be okay.

“It’s down this pool here. Straight down, and then there’s an area where we can breathe underwater.” Reiya pointed to the pond.

“I’ll dive in and shift into my dragon. This tunnel is too small, and so is the pond hole. Just jump in and grab onto me. I’ll get you down there.” Lee kissed her forehead and dove into the water. The moment he did, Reiya could see the ripple in the water from him shifting.

Chelsie, if you can hear me, I’m coming for you. Reiya tried to mindlink her but had not been able to get through. She could still feel her, though, so she knew she was alive. She dove into the cold water and grabbed onto Lee, who swiftly made his way to the bottom.

Reiya stood inside the barrier on the sand bar and breathed freely as Lee shifted back and came to her side. Surprisingly, he was faster than Chelsie underwater.

“I can feel her, Lee. She’s down here. Why can’t I link to her?”

“It must be the merrows’ barrier.” Lee grabbed onto Reiya’s hand. “Stay close.”

Reiya pulled Lee along quickly, and before long, she broke into a run.

She had to get to Chelsie. When they approached the coral palace, the guards immediately stood aside, allowing them to pass.

Reiya didn’t hesitate, though Lee was more reserved and cautious.

They were expecting Reiya, but not him. He tugged her back and wrapped his arm around her, determined to keep her safe.

The other guards opened the double doors to the throne room, and they swiftly entered. Reiya’s eyes darted around the room. In the far corner, she saw Chelsie and Olga, who looked up at them. Olga wasn’t surprised at all. She had been expecting them.

“Chelsie!” Reiya yelled as she dragged Lee over to her. She wrapped her arms around her, and her voice trembled. “I was so worried.”

Chelsie had tears in her eyes. “We’ve been waiting for you,” she whispered out.

Reiya looked at her, confused, and then to Olga. Olga smiled and looked at Lee. “Well, this is the first time a deity has been able to enter my chambers. Amazing what a little bit of destiny and magic can do.” She chuckled and then looked at Reiya.

“You managed to complete your task. I knew you would be able to do it. I have something for you,” Olga said, taking a few steps backward.

She slid a door open to reveal Brody’s body lying on a table.

Reiya gasped and raised her hand over her mouth.

“My two water beasts, Cetus and Cater, brought me back two interesting creatures.” She nodded toward the hellhound that was now lifeless on the ground.

Reiya walked up to him and grabbed onto his hand. “I’m so sorry, Brody.” She furrowed her eyes and then looked back. “I don’t understand …”

Olga smiled. “Don’t you?”

Reiya turned and looked back at Brody. Lee walked up to her side and put his hand on her shoulder.

“He … he’s alive?” Lee asked, turning to see Reiya’s shocked face.

“I can’t feel him, though. I don’t understand.” Reiya looked at Brody and squeezed his hand.

“The dark priestess likes to see people overcome through pain. However, she crossed the line when she thought she could pull the strings where my princess was concerned. Kali, the dark priestess, told me to give you the task of destroying Abaas. I was afraid of what casualties could occur because of this, so I sent Cetus and Cater to watch the battle. In the event one of you was taken down, they would bring their body back, along with a sacrifice.” She nodded toward the hellhound.

“The way my magic works is that a life must be exchanged for a life. That is as far as I can take it, though. It’s up to you, Reiya.

You must make him your guardian again.” Olga stood at Chelsie’s side and patted her shoulder.

“The little kelpie here refused to leave his side. She knew you would come for her. So, we’ve been waiting for you to do what only you can do. ”

“Wait a minute. Her wolf is dormant right now. She just woke up from healing and exhaustion. This isn’t safe for her.” Lee shook his head. He wanted Brody back, but not if it would put Reiya at risk.

Olga clicked her tongue. “How do I know more than you? Deities. This only proves they are too stuck on themselves to learn anything.” Olga shook her head.

“You two are connected now. That doesn’t just mean your life force.

Your energy is also connected. She only needs to tap into that.

She can see it. Reiya has the gift. All the fairy royalty does. They can see energy and its colors.”

“But I’m unsure of what I need to do.” Reiya squeezed Brody’s hand and closed her eyes. She had to bring him back, but how?

“That’s because you haven’t learned it yet. Us fairies continually adapt and learn. We are always growing stronger because of this. Dig inside yourself, Reiya, and search for what you need.” Olga smiled and nodded her head.

Reiya placed both her hands on Brody. She could feel his shallow heartbeat. Just like with the curses, she would search inside him.

She closed her eyes and dove into his subconscious.

She found herself swimming in darkness. The sounds around her vanished, and a blue light swirled around her.

It was Lee’s energy keeping her company.

She dove even deeper into his subconscious.

Her eyes adjusted, and she saw a gentle orange flicker.

Brody was wrapped up in a ball, his orange light flickering around him. She reached out to touch him, and as she did, his eyes shot up in shock.

“Reiya? No! No, Reiya, not you,” Brody cried as he stood up. “You can’t be dead.”

Reiya wrapped her arms around him and sobbed. “I’m not dead, and neither are you.” She felt his arms wrap around her. The tears trickled out harder. She thought she would never feel his touch again.

“I love you, Brody. I thought I would never see you again. I thought I lost you,” Reiya croaked as she began to ugly cry.

Brody held onto her. He didn’t know how he was alive or where they were now. All he knew was he needed her, too.

“What happened?” he asked, his voice tender.

“Olga saved you. She exchanged the hellhound’s life for yours. So, you’re alive now, but I have to bring you back.”

“And where are we?” Brody chuckled.

“We are inside of you.”

“Okay. That is sort of gross and disturbing on a whole other level,” Brody teased, and Reiya giggled. Even his lame, cheesy jokes were music to her ears.

Reiya pulled back and wiped her eyes. “I’m going to bring you back now.”

Brody smiled at her. “How are you going to do that?”

Reiya smiled brightly. “By making you my guardian again.” When Brody died, his connection as her guardian had faded.

Now, she had to awaken that part of him again.

The magic inside him that her mother had placed.

She had to call out to it. And she knew exactly how to do it.

She would sing the song of remembrance. She grabbed onto Brody’s hands and searched for the song in her heart, the one that her soul knew.

The song that would connect her to her mother to activate her fairy magic.

The sunlight twirls and dances bright

Hidden in leaves before they take flight

In every corner of the earth's embrace

You're swaying, hearing my melody's grace

The flowers bloom, each petal for you

The song pulls us near, a bond so true

Our hearts almost beating as one

Singing together, though miles are spun

Voices are calling from lands afar

Laughter and singing, like a guiding star

Echoing whispers on the breeze

A symphony of harmony in the trees

A voice from afar beckons my way

Guiding me onward, day by day

It smiles, it sings, a gentle call

Your voice in the wind, a sweet enthrall

In joy and sorrow, we reach across

Bridging the distance, no love is lost

Hand in hand beneath the sun

Together, our journey has just begun

Can you hear the song I weave?

Drawing us closer, helping believe

Now the moment has come at last

Awakening the magic binding our past

A bright light shot up, and Brody’s bright orange glow surged. The light pushed Reiya out of the darkness and flung her out of Brody’s subconscious. She opened her eyes, the tears still pooling from her face. She felt Lee’s arm tighten on her, but all eyes were glued to Brody.

It started with a small twitch in his hand, and then his eyes slowly opened. Brody looked around and smiled.

“What? You’re crying out here too?” Brody chuckled as he looked at Reiya. He adjusted himself and sat up. Chelsie dove into him, sobbing, and Brody wrapped his arms around her. “I’m sorry for worrying you, Chels,” he softly cooed to her as he held onto her tightly.

Reiya leaned into Lee and cried into his chest. She could feel Brody’s light again. He was back.

“You shouldn’t be crying now. He’s back and okay.” Lee smiled as he held onto his fairy tightly. The two men looked at each other and exchanged a smile.

“Glad to see you’re back with us, Levi.” Brody smiled while Lee laughed.

“Glad to see you’re back with US, Brody.” Both Lee and Brody chuckled as they held onto their sobbing girls.

This was a close call for the group. It was something that brought them even closer. Their bond had strengthened, and a new appreciation for one another was formed.

Chelsie leaned back and looked up at Brody. “Before anything else happens, I have something to tell you.” Chelsie watched him looking down at her curiously and she smiled.

“I’m pregnant.”
