Chapter 53 Exchanging Numbers

Victoria stood to the side, noticing Nathan's dependence on Kendall, and couldn't help but tease, "It feels like Nathan drank a magic potion after seeing you.

After you visited our house last time, he was so obedient and hasn't gone to the Imperial Hotel again.

He's also been leaving his room more often.

Although he still doesn't communicate with us, we can tell he's waiting for you. "

Kendall wasn't sure why the young master was singling her out. Thinking it over, the root cause was probably the location and circumstances of their first meeting. Nathan suffered from both a psychological disorder and claustrophobia.

The elevator malfunction that night, with its cramped, narrow space, triggered his condition.

When he was having an episode, Kendall initiated conversation, eased his discomfort, and gave him a small nightlight to ward off the darkness.

That's likely why Kendall became a special presence in Nathan's eyes.

Kendall categorized Nathan's fondness for her as a case of imprinting. "I feel like the changes in him just from these two meetings are pretty significant. Once he meets more people in the future, he should keep improving," Kendall said.

Victoria nodded happily. What mother wouldn't want her child to do well, especially when her Nathan was so outstanding?

Victoria invited Kendall inside to sit, but Kendall politely declined. Kendall opened her car door, pulled out the two bags of toys, and handed them to Nathan. "Here are your spoils of war for today."

Victoria, who was watching, exclaimed, "That many?"

"Yes! He's so good. Not just at the claw machine, but also fighting games, bowling, and pool. He's extremely talented,"

Kendall asked politely, "Had he taken lessons for any of those?"

"No, no," Victoria quickly shook her head. The Sinclair family noticed something was off when Nathan was only a few months old. While ordinary babies cry and fuss, Nathan never did. He stayed quietly in his cradle, his little face expressionless.

Anyone could hold him, but no one could make him smile. The Sinclair family was wealthy and took Nathan to many hospitals for checks, even overseas.

They eventually determined there was nothing physically wrong with him, but he likely had a psychological disorder. They discovered it early and actively sought treatment, but for some reason, the therapies never seemed to work.

When Nathan was small, the Sinclair family tried to cultivate his hobbies, particularly sports, to make his personality brighter, but those attempts also failed.

"But Nathan's calculation ability is very strong, especially in mathematical research. It's a natural gift," Victoria said with pride.

"He never went to school, but we hired private tutors. When he was seventeen, he designed a fully automated facility and even applied for a national patent. For three years, from age eighteen to twenty-one, he set the math exam papers for the city's top university entrance tests."

Kendall was astonished. "Incredible!"

Nathan stood beside Kendall, not participating in their conversation. However, he clearly heard every word of Kendall's praise.

As Kendall was about to leave, Nathan lowered his head, stealthily circled around to the other side, and tried to slip into the car to go with her while ignoring his own massive villa right in front of him.

Kendall was amused by his attempt. "I just brought you back. If you come with me again, won't I have to bring you back again later?"

Nathan drooped his eyes, looking sad.

Kendall thought for a moment and pulled out her phone. "How about this? Let's exchange numbers. Then, if you want to go out sometime, you can ask me, or I can ask you out."

She didn't dislike Nathan. His handsome, otherworldly face alone made it impossible to dislike him, not to mention his mind was pure like a child, like a blank sheet of paper.

Victoria smiled. "That's a great idea!"

Nathan felt his pocket but didn't find his phone. He looked at Kendall and said, "Wait for me." Then, he quickly hurried into the villa.

"Nathan usually doesn't like using his phone, so he probably didn't bring it out today," Victoria explained.

Kendall nodded in understanding. Before long, Nathan came back out of the villa, holding a brand-new looking phone.

The two successfully added each other's numbers. Kendall noted Nathan's name in her phone, then drove away.

Nathan stood in place, not turning to go inside until the car had completely vanished from his sight.

Kendall had messaged Maggie ahead of time. Kendall spent the entire afternoon immersed in the martial arts gym.

After the high-intensity workout, her pores opened up, and she was sweaty, tired, yet wonderfully relaxed.

It wasn't until past ten o'clock that night that Kendall received a call from Mark.

As soon as she answered, Mark said, "The criminal you caught this morning has confessed to everything." Even through the phone, Kendall could hear the exhaustion in Mark's voice.

Kendall couldn't help but glance at the time on her phone. "You're just getting off work now?"

"No," Mark corrected with a groan. "I'm still not off work!"

"... That's rough."

Mark couldn't help but vent. "After you left this morning, Emma and I brought Ali back to the station.

We temporarily held him in the detention room.

While he was unconscious, Emma had already copied all the evidence from his phone and contacted the victims via his contact number.

This was always a very typical and malicious criminal case, but when Ali woke up, he refused to confess and even threatened to sue us for violating his privacy. "

Mark let out a weary sigh at this point. If Ali had any respect for other people's privacy, he wouldn't have done so many things that violated the law and morality behind closed doors!

When Ali woke up, not only did he refuse to confess, but he also threatened to sue Kendall.

Though he didn't know how Kendall had knocked him out, he guessed that his presence at the police station was definitely connected to her.

Ali accused Kendall of deliberately tricking him into going to the underground parking lot and setting a trap to knock him out!

Ali mistakenly believed Kendall was a police employee, thought her methods were despicable, and kept demanding to see Kendall.

Seeing that he was so uncooperative, Mark and the others contacted his family and Oakhaven University.

In any case, the police station had already gathered sufficient evidence and witness testimony while Ali was unconscious.

Even if Ali refused to confess, the court could still proceed with the prosecution.

Seeing the situation unfold, Ali finally panicked...
