Chapter 62 Hiking Invitation

After completing the task involving Lily, Kendall's life value instantly gained a significant length.

The contract she signed with the '30 Days of Survival' program stipulated a formal recording period of 30 days, which, with travel time factored in, amounted to a maximum of 32 days.

The life value Kendall had now accumulated was entirely sufficient to sustain her until after the program concluded.

With her urgent need for life value diminished, Kendall opened her mobile to contact Nathan.

After adding Nathan's number last time, the two hadn't chatted.

Kendall hadn't contacted Nathan because her schedule was packed, and the reason Nathan hadn't contacted her... she would ask him when they met.

Kendall didn't send a text, she called Nathan directly via video. In their previous meetings, he had been too quiet. She needed to get him to talk more.

Nathan's phone was often a mere prop. The moment the default number ringtone sounded, Nathan, who was hunched over his desk writing, subconsciously looked up, his expression somewhat confused.

But when his gaze fell on the illuminated screen, the originally cold expression on Nathan's face changed immediately, like a stone thrown into a lake, instantly disturbing the calm surface.

Nathan immediately put down what he was doing, even sitting up a little straighter. He saw Kendall's profile picture on the bright screen, and he saw... that Kendall was calling him.

A trace of expectation and joy that Nathan didn't even realize instantly filled his beautiful eyes.

Nathan picked up the phone lying on the side, carefully tapped the screen, and the video call connected. The face he had been thinking about day and night instantly appeared on the screen.

Kendall was all smiles, her skin fair, and she wore light makeup. Already having delicate features and pale skin, the light makeup made her complexion look even more rosy, fair, and flawless.

Nathan's dark eyes stared unblinkingly at Kendall on the screen, and he consciously lowered his breathing.

As Nathan looked at Kendall, Kendall also saw Nathan on the screen.

Nathan held the phone with both hands on the desk.

The camera angle was shooting from the bottom up, often called the 'death angle', but facing Nathan's sharply defined, perfect face, it not only failed to give him a double chin, but it made his jawline look even sharper and smoother.

Nathan seemed oddly blank when answering the video, sitting straight like a startled little rabbit.

As soon as Kendall saw him, she smiled and spoke first, "Hey! Nathan, what are you doing?"

Nathan couldn't resist tapping the window, and Kendall, who had been in a small box, instantly filled his entire screen.

"Writing," Nathan replied, his voice still a little stiff, with no change in tone. He turned the camera to show Kendall what he had been writing. The pristine white A4 sheets were covered in various formulas. Kendall first thought it was English, but after a closer look, she realized it was math.

Kendall suddenly remembered Victoria mentioning Nathan's surprising talent in mathematics. Kendall widened her eyes: "You're busy? Oh no, I'm interrupting you then. Maybe you should go back to work, I'll hang up now, okay?"

"No!" Nathan heard Kendall's words and refused instantly. He reached out and immediately pushed the sheets he had been writing for a long time aside with a rough, eager motion, then looked cautiously at Kendall on the phone. "I'm not busy anymore."

"Don't rush," Kendall soothed him with a smile. "The sun is really nice today. Do you want to come out and move around?"

If he came out, the two of them could meet. Nathan's eyes lit up.

Kendall's eyes held a smile. "I'll take you hiking."

When she video-called Nathan, Kendall was sitting on her balcony. She looked up at the sunny, fair weather, which was perfect for hiking.

Seeing Nathan's bright, twinkling eyes clearly indicating he was tempted, Kendall told him to change his clothes and shoes and wait for her at home. If she left now, she could reach his place in about twenty minutes.

After ending the call, Nathan followed Kendall's instructions precisely. He changed into casual clothes and put on sneakers before heading downstairs.

Victoria sat on the sofa in the living room downstairs. Attracted by the noise from upstairs, she looked up and watched Nathan descend the spiral staircase. Although Nathan looked as expressionless as usual, Victoria felt that today's Nathan was somehow different from his usual self.

Today, he seemed happier?

Victoria looked puzzled. Although Nathan rarely left his room, if he was hungry or thirsty, he would come downstairs to the kitchen to find food.

Victoria thought this time was the same.

However, after coming downstairs, Nathan walked resolutely toward the main door, not even glancing at the kitchen.

Seeing Nathan about to walk out the door, Victoria's heart tightened, and she immediately stood up. "Nathan, where are you going?"

Nathan turned to look at her. "Kendall, hiking."

After dropping those two words, Nathan could no longer suppress his internal excitement and stepped out of the villa.

Victoria, who had been worried about him, froze when she heard his reply.

When she asked the question, she hadn't expected Nathan to answer her.

Since Nathan had grown up, he disliked speaking and communicating.

He would ignore anyone who spoke to him.

Over time, the Sinclair family had grown used to the 'mute' Nathan.

She had been surprised to hear Nathan speak to Kendall a few days ago, but she hadn't expected Nathan to not only speak but also be willing to communicate with her! Victoria was instantly moved to tears.

After hearing Kendall's name from Nathan's mouth, Victoria was no longer worried about him going out.

Instead, she felt grateful to Kendall for inviting Nathan out.

Victoria didn't show herself. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the impatient Nathan standing in the spot where Kendall had dropped him off last time.

A few minutes later, Kendall's car appeared. Victoria then watched her 'silly son', whom she could never persuade to leave the house, immediately get into the passenger seat as soon as Kendall parked the car, his movements quick, as if he feared Kendall would drive away without him the next second.

Seeing this situation, Victoria shook her head and smiled lightly. After watching Kendall drive away from the Sinclair family home, Victoria picked up her phone and sent a message to Normand.

Victoria: "Our son has grown up. We can't keep him home anymore."

Normand: "Hmm?"
