Chapter 17

Chapter Seventeen

Katherine

“It was so much fun at the show last week,” Marina says as I step into the office. Her eyes are bright as she hands me a cupcake with a smiley face on it.

“What’s this for?” I ask, taking it suspiciously. “Please tell me no files were accidentally emailed to the wrong person again.”

“No,” she laughs. “I just wanted to thank you for inviting me to hang out with you and your friends and for getting us a box. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I still can’t believe I was hanging out with my boss, the CEO of the company.”

“I didn’t exactly get us into the box,” I say. “I didn’t even know he was going to be there.”

“I know, but the fact that you guys are friends, it’s just like, wow.”

“We’re not friends, Marina,” I say firmly.

“Please don’t think I have any sort of relationship with him.

” I am saying that to remind myself of that fact also.

I’d gotten several texts from Jack the last few days but I’d ignored them.

Mainly because I was scared of how quickly I’d fall for him if we had sex.

Even though I knew I had already half-fallen for him without it.

“Well, whatever the relationship is, I think he thinks you’re cute together,” she grins. “I saw the way he kept looking at you. And when he asked us if we wanted to go for drinks? I don’t think he cared about the rest of us. I think he just wanted you.”

“I don’t think so.” I lie quickly. I know he wanted me. Maybe as much as I wanted him.

“What don’t you think?” Xander asks as he walks into the office. He has glitter all over his face and I walk over and touch his cheek.

“Why do you have glitter on your face?”

“Standard 24-hour party,” he yawns loudly. “It just ended. Don’t tell me.”

“When did this party end?”

“About an hour ago,” he said, moving his head back and forth. “I’ll be fine though. I’m going to drink a shit ton of black coffee and do my work. Hey, Marina, you’re looking pretty.”

“Thanks, Xander. You look… glittery.”

“I know. I’m a queen,” he chuckles, then suddenly yawns again.

“You should get that coffee now,” I say. “If HR comes in, what are we going to say?”

“That I’ve been thinking deeply about becoming a night club King,” he replies and I just roll my eyes and take the cupcake from Marina.

“Enjoy it,” she says sweetly.

“Thanks. Where’s Cora?” I ask, surprised she’s not in the office already.

“She took today off. Doctor’s appointment or something.”

“I see.” I sit at my desk and open the top file. It contains photographs of a resort in Maui that Jack is considering buying. I then grab the Coconut Beach file so I can look at the latest reports I’d found. I need to dig into the data as something just isn’t adding up.

My phone beeps. It’s Jack. I hesitate, then answer.

“Hello, this is Katherine speaking.”

“Hi there, sexy. How are you today?”

“I’m sorry, who is this?” I say, though I don’t know why I’m pretending I don’t know. Maybe trying to create distance between us again. I’d let the chemistry between us blur the lines too much.

He laughs. “You know very well who this is.”

“I’m working right now.”

“Then come to my office. I want to talk.”

“Is this for work or personal chat?”

“We don’t have a personal relationship according to you,” he says snidely. “So obviously it’s work.”

“I’ll be there in ten minutes.” I mumble back, annoyed by his comment.

“Five.”

“I’ll see you in twenty.” I hang up and rub my temples. My heart is racing. And I know the last thing I need to be doing right now is going to his office.

“I’ll be right back,” I tell Marina and Xander as I stand up slowly. I should sit back down. I should forget that Jack sets my heart on fire.

“Coffee?” Xander asks hopefully.

“No, but you should get some. Food as well. You need breakfast too.”

“I wasn’t drinking alcohol or anything,” he says, then burps. “Okay. I was.”

“Thank you for confirming,” Marina says, as she pretends to gag.

He sighs. “Fine. Coffee run. Anyone want anything?”

“Macchiato and a bagel,” Marina says eagerly. “With cream cheese.”

“I’m not Uber Eats,” he snaps. “Unless you want to go for me?”

“For forty dollars,” Marina jumps up.

“Daylight robbery, but fine.” He hands her a hundred dollar bill and we leave the office and head to the elevator.

“Up or down?” she asks as she goes to press the button.

“Up.”

“Ooooh,” she grins knowing.

“Stop that. Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Because you’re going to see Loverboy.”

“Marina. He is not my lover.”

“Yet,” she winks and I groan loudly.

“I’m ignoring you.” I look away from her and I’m grateful when the elevator beeps on Jack’s floor. “I will see you in a few minutes.”

“Sure and I’m Meryl Streep.” I can hear her laughing as the elevator goes back down. I make my way to Jack’s office, knock and enter. He’s standing by the window, looking even more gorgeous than normal.

“Good morning, Katherine.” He heads over to me immediately and my legs tremble at the lust in his eyes. Shit, I shouldn’t have come.

“Good morning.” I say stiffly and move away from him.

“Please, have a seat.” He gestures to one of the chairs and we both sit down, just staring at each other. He eyes me like he wants to eat me and I eye him like I have no clue what he’s thinking. We sit in silence for about five minutes, just observing each other.

“So,” he says, “the play was interesting.”

“It sucked,” I reply as I shake my head. “But interesting is another adjective you can use, I suppose.”

“I think we should talk.” He leans forward on his desk and rolls his sleeves up.

“That’s what we’re doing.”

“No, I want to talk about us.”

“There is no us.” I swallow.

“Remember when you pretended to be my girlfriend?”

“I remember.”

“You seemed really into it.”

“Maybe I wanted to keep my job.”

“I don’t think squeezing my cock was required for that.”

“Maybe not.”

“And the other night when we had phone sex.”

“What about it? I was tired and horny.” I yawn like I’m bored. “It was nothing.”

“Liar.”

“I’m not lying. What’s this about, Jack?”

“I was wondering if you think about me. I was hoping you’d come over after the play that night.”

“I was tired.”

“Do you only think about me at night?”

“Huh, what do you mean by that?”

“The way women think about men at night.”

“You’re asking if I fantasize about you?” I lick my lips nervously. I’m not going to tell him it’s at night, in the morning, and sometimes in the middle of the day.

“I wouldn’t phrase it that way.” He grins. “But sure.”

“No, I don’t.”

“Do you want to tell the truth?” He rubs his hands together. “Just once?”

“I don’t want to lie.” I unbutton the top button of my shirt and lean forward. Screw it. If he wants to play this game, I’m going to play it too. “I do more than fantasize.”

He leans closer, his lips twisted. “Tell me more.”

“I do things that aren’t appropriate to talk about in the office.” I whisper loudly and run my fingers down my neck. He growls, jumps up and heads over to me. He looks down and touches my face.

“I thought you were stunning the first time we met, but you’re so much hotter now. Tell me more.”

“I thought you were handsome when we first met,” I say. “But now I think you’re sexy.” I shift in the seat. Why does the room feel so hot?

“If you’d been older… I would’ve fucked you that night.” He drops to his knees and touches my lips. “All night long.

My mouth goes dry. “I would’ve said yes,” I admit. His eyes darken as I suck on his finger.

“And now? What would you say now?”

“I don’t know what you want from me.” I touch the side of his face.

“I called you here to ask you to lunch, but now, now I want more.”

“Jack,” I gasp as I feel his fingers in my hair, caressing my face. He leans forward and kisses my neck. I grab his tie and loosen it.

“You’re infuriating,” I whisper softly, as his lips move closer to mine.

Then I feel them against me and suddenly we’re kissing.

His tongue slides into my mouth and I feel his fingers eagerly unbuttoning my shirt.

We stand up and I pull his tie off and unbutton his shirt, running my fingers down his muscular chest. When I get to the top of his pants, I look up at him.

His eyes are dark and I grin as I undo his belt and pull down his zipper.

He gasps as I reach into his boxes and pull out his hard cock before dropping to my knees.

He gasps as I take him into my mouth and deep throat him.

The tip of his cock is engorged and large and I suck on it eagerly.

I love the salty taste of his skin as I swallow him and his body shudders as I bob up and down.

He pulls my hair as I continue to suck him and then suddenly, he pulls me up, yanks my skirt up, and bends me over his desk.

He slips my panties to the side and I gasp as I feel him thrusting his hard cock inside of me.

“Ahhhhh.” I scream out as he reaches up and plays with my nipples as he fucks me hard and fast. His cock seems to go deeper and deeper with each thrust and I feel like I might explode and float into the air.

“You feel so tight and wet.” He grunts from behind me.

“Fuck Katherine, I am going to come.” He grabs my hips and thrusts a few more times and I feel him exploding inside of me.

He reaches down and rubs my clit and I feel myself shuddering as I come as well.

When we’re both down, he turns me around and kisses me passionately.

“That was hot.” He mutters against my lips, my breasts crushed up against his chest. I nod slowly, still trying to process what we’d just done. I’d just had sex with Jack and it was the hottest thing that had ever happened in my life.

“It wasn’t bad.” I grin and run my fingers through my hair. “Not bad at all.”

“It was much better than not bad.” He sucks my lower lip. “Or do I need to do it all over again.” He reaches down and plays with my nipple. “I love your breasts.”

I’m about to answer when my phone starts ringing and I push past him to grab the phone from my skirt. It’s my sister and she’s texted because she needs help with college application fees. I frown as I know my parents are useless with money.

“What’s wrong?” Jack asks with a frown as he steps forward.

“It’s nothing. My mom and dad don’t have money for college applications for my sisters. Or the test prep classes they need to take.” I sigh. “They are lovely parents, but horrible with money, but it’s okay, I will help them.”

Jack frowns, “Is there anything I can do to help?”

“No,” I say sharply. “But thanks. I got this though.”

“I’m here if you need to figure out how to finance—”

“I’m good.” I say quickly, pulling my clothes up. “I don’t want your money.”

“Just my body?” He asks as he attempts to kiss me again.

“This was a one-time thing,” I say, licking my lips and trying to avoid staring at his cock.

“Really?”

“We can go back to being enemies.”

“You were never my enemy,” he smirks. “You’ve got a mouth on you though.”

“And what does that mean?”

“It means that I like how it feels when it’s on my cock. Do enemies really give each other blowjobs?” He grabs me around the waist. “And if so, can I get another one?”

“No.” I reach down and stroke his cock. “Sorry, but you already got lucky once today.” I love the way he grunts in response to that. “By the way, I wanted to talk about the Coconut Beach deal. I think I—”

“Not right now,” he groans as he slams me back against the wall and slips his fingers between my legs and rubs urgently. “Right now, all I want to talk about is how I’m going to make you come again.”
