Chapter 27 #2

“Why are you crying?” He leaned forward, concern in his eyes. “Are you in pain?”

“No,” I whispered, squeezing his hand, trying to keep emotion from overwhelming me. “I’m just happy about what you said.”

He drew me into his lap and I relaxed against his powerful chest, calmer and more restful than I had been for a very long time. I stroked my fingers up and down his arm as we enjoyed each other’s companionship in silence.

“Are you embarrassed about what we did?”

I blinked at the question. “No, why do you ask?”

“You said that you didn’t want Jaron and Tatiana to know that you’d been gone for the night.”

Right. “I hadn’t been sure how anyone would take us being together. Besides, I didn’t know what you thought about what we’d done. I thought leaving me to wake alone might have been a statement.”

He blew a rough breath through his nose. “Foolish little human.” There was no bite in the words.

My stomach rumbled, prompting a chuckle from him. “Eat, dhysa.” he unwrapped the food and handed some to me.

We stayed in the alcove for a while, and I allowed my head to drift down to his chest.

“We leave tomorrow.” He traced circles down my back. “Will you be ok?”

“Yes. I’m excited about the trip.”

“Why?”

To me, that was an odd question. Who wouldn’t love to learn more about a new place? “I get to see a part of your culture, learn more about how you do things and what you value, see a new part of your territory…what’s not to be excited about?”

His smile was breathtaking. He tangled his hand into my hair, making my scalp tingle, and took my mouth with his. I pressed into him, enjoying the feel as we caressed and melded our lips to each other.

“Jacqueline,” he breathed against me, holding my hips still when I straddled him and ground into his hardness. He pulled away just enough to press his forehead to mine, keeping my gaze. “No. You need to recover inside,” he groaned when I kneaded the back of his neck.

“I don’t like being told no,” I murmured against his lips.

His responding chuckle was husky. “Then how about this?” Suddenly I found myself lifted over him as he slid until he was flat on his back. I braced my hands on the side of the alcove as he lowered me so my thighs were straddling his head, giving him unrestricted access to my cunt.

Shock coursed through me as his hot mouth took me from below, licking and sucking.

Gasping and moaning, I rode his mouth, his hands gentle on my hips and ass as he caressed me.

The wet sounds coming from beneath me should have embarrassed me, but the heat rolling through me increased at the sounds, arousal dripping out of me.

He lapped up every bit, pressing his tongue into my opening.

I bounced softly on his face, bracing on the wall and crying out as waves of pleasure shook me.

After the second orgasm I slid off his face so I didn’t collapse on him and settled on my hands and knees, trembling as pleasure continued to seize me, wetness trickling out of me.

I didn’t have the energy to respond when he pushed my dress up, exposing my backside.

Gentle hands kneaded my ass and thighs, and his rough, warm tongue tracked along my slickness.

He groaned as he tasted me. I should have moved away, should have tried to cover myself, but I waited to see what more he would do.

I’d never been exposed to anyone as much as I was to him.

I’d been bared to him in every way, and I still felt safe and respected.

After he licked the come from my thighs and slit, he lifted me and brought me back onto his lap. And then this fierce vorpyr warrior nuzzled my neck. “Did that satisfy you?” he murmured, voice husky and amused.

“You realize you created a monster, right? I’ll expect something amazing in return whenever you say no to me from now on.” I teased.

“I think I’ll have a very hard time saying no to you.” The words made my heart flutter.

I sobered as things I wanted to talk to him about paraded through my thoughts. I was scared to address the larger issue, but I’d been thinking about it for a while.

“I can hear the wings flapping in your mind. What are you thinking?”

I couldn’t help but smile. “We have a similar saying, ‘I can see your wheels turning.’”

“Wheels are boring.”

“That’s fair.” My smile faded. “I think it was on purpose.” He tilted his head curiously.

“I keep wondering why I was given this research mission when they had to know this was your planet.” Despite my trepidation I kept his gaze.

“They never intended to get us back. They took advantage of the situation where they could get rid of me.”

His brows furrowed and his thumb brushed back and forth over the back of my hand. “Couldn’t they have gotten rid of you in an easier way? They trespassed against a galactic enemy and spent a great deal of currency on the trip.”

“There had to have been more to it than that. We were just a smokescreen.” My voice broke.

“And I don’t know why. As far as they know, we’re all dead.

” A soft growl vibrated through his chest, and I squeezed his hand, hoping I wasn’t pushing him away.

“I’m sorry. For everything.” I took a breath and admitted what had been bothering me the most. “I think there was another reason they came here, but I can’t think of what it could be. ”

His eyes briefly narrowed. “I wonder…” he shook his head. “We’ll eventually find out. I believe that you will not do anything to betray the trust I’ve given you.” He held my gaze. “And no matter how it came about, I’m glad you’re here.”

I swallowed down the emotion that threatened at the sweet admission.

“Do you ever feel homesick?” he asked suddenly.

I shook my head right away, then paused. There was no reason to lie to him. “Sometimes there will be a sight or smell that reminds me of home and I feel…nostalgic. Sometimes I wonder what’s happening at the university I used to work at, or how my colleagues who I brought on this trip fared.”

“We will find you something to do here on a more permanent basis.” he said.

I smiled. “I would like that.”
