CASSANDRA

Idiot, idiot, idiot.

Well, if only they could see me now, eh? In the position I’m in, dealing with the situations I have. The only idiots around here are those four girls.

I knew, from the moment that girl first came to my door, that she was up to something.

I recognized her. And the whole time she was in my kitchen, brazen as anything, with her pathetic burglary story and terrible clothes, I knew there was more to her, that I knew her from somewhere and just couldn’t figure it out.

It was only after she left that something twigged, and I checked out my hunch.

It was some poetry competition they had won, that had been shown in the newspapers after that girl had gone missing.

The one in my garden. When I’d looked into her to find out who she was, that was one of the photos that came up.

Her, wearing that bracelet, and her little friends.

Those five, years younger, still at school, and there was my unexpected visitor.

Bingo. I had her.

The bracelet was a nice touch, wasn’t it? I had to brandish that in front of them, cause a bit of a stir. I knew it would get their attention, make them do whatever I said.

So on they come to Bishop’s House.

They’ll soon know what happens to trespassers in my home.
