Chapter 2

I really enjoy giving my twin shit about just about everything. Olivia Quinn is working at her desk on the computer, which is curious because only Aled should be able to direct her in tasks. So what the fuck is she doing?
Elbowing Aled out of the way, I stride into the office that leads to his, ignoring the words he’s hissing at me. We used to pretend to be each other all of the time, I’m sure it’ll come back to me easily.
Our blonde hair is exactly the same shade, our skin tone matches, and our only outward difference is my lack of tattoos. I don’t enjoy pain the way Aled does.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Miss Quinn,” I say formally, watching as her muted blue eyes fly up to meet mine. “I have actual work for you to do. What are you doing?”
My gaze moves over her quickly as she glances back at the computer.
I can’t see what she’s looking at from this angle, but she closes out of the window.
Her navy blue skirt is twitched into place as she looks back up, and her cream long sleeved shirt has miles of buttons.
There’s not any skin that I can see, and yet my mouth waters at her beauty.
“Oh. I was just looking into what organizations you work with in your philanthropic efforts,” she says. “You’re right, though. I was just waiting for someone to push me in a direction.”
I think the direction I would push you in would not involve anything appropriate. I can see her curves underneath her modest clothing, and I have to force myself not to stare at her tits. She’s really pretty.
There’s got to be a reason my brother is freaking the fuck out. Moving around the desk, I give in to the need to be closer to her. Leaning down over her, I nod, taking in a deep breath before I get very still. She smells incredible, and I want to scent mark, bite, and fuck her in that order.
Goddamit, Aled. He knew I would want her, and he’s right in all of his points earlier. I want to keep her, and that would fuck up everything that we’re working toward. She smells like mine, and she can’t be.
While my brothers have very particular tastes, I hide mine. Olivia? The sweet omega whose eyes I want to make water while she chokes down my cock? This is my type, and it kills me that I can’t fucking have her.
There’s no room for a sweet little omega like her in our pack. It’s why I fuck the whores I find at clubs very irregularly, simply to scratch my itch. Otherwise, I don’t fucking bother.
“I will help with the direction part,” I say, swallowing hard.
I know some of the details of what my brother does from day to day.
If he complained one more time that he didn’t have an assistant, I was going to kill him.
“Let me grab some phone numbers. I need you to call them and verify their email addresses so that we can send out their donation tax deduction forms.”
This is a very tedious task that my brother hates to do, but I need to make my escape. Olivia is stretching her neck from side to side as if it’s tight as I come back into the room with the list, and all I want is to bury my nose where she’s baring it.
Keep it together…
“Here are the phone numbers and emails, and the forms are in our shared folders here,” I explain, leaning over her to show her. She doesn’t show any signs of distress or revelation at my scent, but I take the opportunity to inhale deeply.
Fuck, my cock is rock hard and my teeth are begging me to bite her. My hands tremble slightly as I release the mouse once I open the file, and she catches my hand in her much smaller one.
“Are you okay?” she asks. “Do you need something to eat?”
The fact that Olivia actually gives a shit about my brother, despite not knowing him, makes my heart clench. She’s a good omega, and it pains me that fate is choosing her for us. It’s not fair, but I’m not as good of an alpha as my brother is.
Her sweet scent matches her personality, something that’s rare in any of the omegas I’ve met.
“I skipped breakfast,” I lie, swallowing hard. The hairs on my arm are rising, a clear sign that she’s affecting me as my cock also twitches with clear desire. “I’ll grab something to eat soon. Are you good to begin this task?”
I get very formal when I’m uncomfortable. I’m so pissed off at Aled for not warning me. I would bet big money that Olivia Quinn is also Maddox’s omega.
“I am,” she says, still gazing at me with concern.
“I promise to eat,” I say, winking at her. Something inside of me wants to soothe her, and it just manages to make me even more angry.
Olivia gives me a wide smile, her teeth even and white. “Alright then,” she says. “I’ll get this handled.”
Forcing myself to walk away from her is difficult, but I manage to do it.
“You’re a fucking asshole,” I rasp at Aled. “We have to reject and fire her.”
“Reject…” Maddox glances through the glass window where Olivia is working, paling. “No way. I didn’t think we even had a scent match. All of us?”
“I think so. I mean, it would make the most sense without physically pushing you into her path. She didn’t give any indication that she knew,” I say, my chest aching. “I want her.”
“We can’t,” Aled grunts, reminding me. “We need to get to Maddox’s office immediately.”
It’s the one furthest from Olivia’s, and I can tell that this is why he chose that one. My steps are heavy as I walk, and my mind can’t stop spinning. We are the legitimate portion of our father’s crime business.
Or so the world thinks. Dylan Behan is continuing his career as a criminal quite happily. He is in the sex club, labor racketeering, and contract killing businesses. He insists that sex sells, unions will remain crooked, and everyone needs someone killed.
I can’t say that he’s wrong.
However, his position is that we should be concerned with showing the world that we are on the straight and narrow so that we can launder money for him. So, we handle the stuffy corporate side of things so that he can live his best life.
The man is in his early seventies, leading his family into more diverse forms of wealth. What none of us saw coming was a pretty omega as our employee.
“Not a word until we’re there,” Maddox mutters when I open my mouth.
Got it.
Throwing open the door to his office, he pops his head back out to find his assistant’s desk. She’s not in his space because we often congregate in his office, and we’d have to kill her if she overhead anything.
“Vera, please hold all of my calls for now,” he says.
The intense tone has her nodding immediately, knowing that it’s non-negotiable.
“Of course, sir. Let me know if you need anything,” she says.
“Vera, can you order us some breakfast, please?” I ask. It unsettles me to lie to Olivia, even over such a small thing like eating.
Fuck, why did I promise her to grab a bite?
“Yes,” Vera says. “Bagels or a full breakfast?”
“Bagels and cream cheese would be perfect,” I reply, making my way into the office. Maddox shuts the door firmly behind me, and then closes the blinds.
The glass and door are both thick enough that no one can hear us, and he searches for listening devices twice a day. He is a paranoid fucker, but it keeps us safe.
“Really?” Aled snorts in amusement. “You need bagels...”
“This is your fuck up,” I hiss. “I walked in without any warning, and immediately wanted to bite an unknown omega. She could be an angel or someone like our mother! Now, I’m stuck with an unwanted scent match who makes me want to do stupid shit like eat because I promised her I would!”
Our mother is selfish, awful, and walked out just after we were born. Dad said it was better that way, and he largely raised us on his own, despite the chaos of his work.
“Umm…” Maddox‘s eyes are wide as he gazes at me. “What the fuck, man?”
“Yeah, well, that’s something you should ask our beloved brother,” I grumble.
“Everyone…just take a damn breath,” Maddox says, pushing his dark hair off his forehead.
His curls are perfectly placed, and he straightens his suit jacket before sitting at his desk. He reminds me of a king sitting in front of his subjects, causing me to roll my eyes as I collapse into one of the chairs across from him.
“So noted,” I mutter sullenly. “Olivia is a distraction, Maddox. All I want is to go back to pretending to be Aled so I can breathe in her delicious scent.”
“Don’t you want to know if she also tastes like angel cake?” my twin asks, adjusting his cock before sitting beside me.
“I thought you weren’t interested,” I tease him.
“You know that doesn’t matter when scent matches are concerned,” Aled says. “When I touched her, I immediately felt a shock of electricity run through me. Running away was a low blow, but I couldn’t handle it.”
Thinking about being stuck in an elevator with Olivia, I shudder as I shift in my chair.
“She’s just an omega,” Maddox says, leaning on his elbows. “The three of us will walk into the office and reject her together. Then, so that we won’t have any issues in the future, we’ll offer to keep her on as recompense. We can’t have any extra attention or bad press.”
“Fuck, what happens if she agrees?” Aled asks. “I’ll be forced to see her every fucking day.”
“Yes, but the effects will be lessened because we rejected her. Cai, she really didn’t show any signs of knowing there was anything between you?” Maddox asks.
“If I was close enough to smell her, then she had to smell me,” Aled adds.
“No reaction at all,” I say. “She’s got to be on some type of blockers.”
“While there are some pharmaceutical companies that are rolling out scent, alpha, and heat blockers, they aren’t as easy to procure as the street shit,” Maddox says.
We should know since we always have our ear to the ground about new developments in the drug industry. Dad doesn’t deal with any of it because he says that the manpower to run drugs is high, but I don’t want to be taken by surprise by new people moving into our territory.
