Chapter 19 - Blaise Monroe

“Now you’re going out to party?” Garrett was really starting to work my nerves. Before Devin began coming around, he didn’t know if I was alive let alone cared. Every move I made now, he was on me and I was over it.

“It’s my four year anniversary as an anchor. I’m absolutely going out to celebrate it.”

“Why wouldn’t you want to celebrate it with me and I’m the reason you’re here.”

“Because I would like to enjoy myself. I’m not in the mood to put on fake smiles and give phony quotes once the media sees us out.”

“You been real mouthy lately. Do I need to put you back in your place?” My head whipped around fast.

“You can try. Garrett, picking a fight is not going to make me stay in the house. Your daughter is in the other room. I’ll see you when I get back.” Putting my red lips on, I grabbed my purse and walked out the room. I was looking good and feeling good, so I was not about to let him ruin my day.

“Blaise, please. I know I’ve neglected you lately, and I’ve also done some things to upset you, but I’m trying. Let’s just celebrate together and try to fix us.” I laughed as I continued towards the front door making sure I had an extra sway in my hips.

“You must lay up with some weak hoes. That gaslighting works with them?” He looked at me annoyed and I could see the anger flashing in his eyes.

“Be smart. You might have cleaned me up, but you know I’m from the hood.

I’ll beat your suburban raised ass all up and through here.

Enjoy your daughter, and I’ll be back later.

” I didn’t even look behind me when I walked out the door.

Climbing in my car, I drove towards Roosevelt Rd.

We were going to Mike’s, a small club in Berwyn and it wasn’t that far from my house.

There was no need to get on the expressway, and I needed to clear my head before I got there, so I took the streets.

I wanted tonight to be a drunk good time, and I wasn’t trying to be thinking about Garrett.

Between him and Devin, I was sick of them being in their feelings.

See, people would assume I was weak because I allowed Garrett to do what he wanted when it came to other women.

I didn’t love him, and I knew what I signed up for.

Yes, it gets hard sometimes, but I preferred my career.

Devin came back into my life and as much as I would love to be with him, he doesn’t bring anything but complications.

His presence alone threatened everything I worked for.

I loved the crazy toxic side of him, but I couldn’t give him what he was asking for.

So, that caused a lot of arguments between us.

He felt I was playing in his face, but he knew I was married when he pushed his way in between my legs.

Yeah, I definitely needed this drink with my girls.

I sent Tyla and Shaq a text asking were they here, but of course, Shaq was late.

Tyla was parking, so I got out and waited for her to meet me at my car.

There was no line thankfully, so we headed inside.

After showing our ID and paying ten dollars, we headed inside and went straight to the bar.

I paid for us a section and some wings before walking over to sit down while we waited for our stuff to come.

“Your sister changed her mind?”

“No, you know she’s never on time for anything if a dick is not attached.” We both laughed as I checked out the room. It wasn’t fully crowded yet, and I was glad we got here before it was.

“I really should be ashamed to be outside with her ass, but I’m riding her coat tail tonight. A bitch is tired of playing with my rose. I need the real thing between these thighs.” I nodded thinking about Devin, but I knew I was playing with fire. That dick was so good though.

“Who knows, we all might leave with something tonight.” Tyla turned her lips up at me indicating I was lying causing me to laugh.

"You better call that sexy ass stalker you got up and give him some.”

“I might.” I shrugged causing her to squeal. Our food and drinks arrived, and I immediately dove in. They had the best wings. Letting out a little moan as I took another bite, I looked up and almost choked. Shaq walked in with a bra, thong, and heels on.

“Shaquoria Denise Brooks! What in the hell do you have on?”

“A man magnet. I’m tired of playing with that nigga I got at home and I’m looking for a new one.” Tyla was sitting there with her eyes bucked and mouth open.

“Whewww! You a bold one, but I feel you. Fuck these niggas. I’m sick of mine too.” Standing up, I hugged her. Pulling away, I looked at her curious. “What’s the perfume you’re wearing?”

“Oh, I want choo by Jimmy Choo. You like it?” I gave a smile before nodding. “It’s my new signature scent. I can’t stand big daddy, but he likes it.” She walked over and hugged Tyla before sitting down. I began picking at my wings with a lot on my mind.

“Girl, where did you go? All of a sudden, you’re quiet. We’re out celebrating your ass, so I’m going to need you to wake the fuck up.” Grabbing my cup, I filled it, and they did the same.

“I’m staying at your house when we leave. I want to get so drunk I can’t feel my face.” Shaq smiled hard before taking her drink down. Me and Tyla did the same and it was on from there. After about an two hours of them turning up, and drinking, I was ready to call it.

“Are you sure you’re okay, friend?” Tyla was looking at me with an eyebrow raised, but I waved her off.

“Why yall keep asking me that? I’m fine. The liquor done kicked in and I’m lowkey ready to go. I forgot that I still gotta drive to Shaq’s house.”

“You done let Garrett make you soft. I’ve never known you to tap out this early.” I looked at my Rolex, and it was one in the morning.

“Girl, you’re acting as if it’s not late. I can just go home if you want to stay.” Downing the last of her drink, she stood up.

“No, we can go. Ty, you good?” Her response was to fall out laughing.

My friend was drunk, but I was sober. However, I was ready to go.

I took the first shot, but I’ve been fake drinking ever since.

I made sure everyone made it to their car before pulling off.

Fifteen minutes later, I was pulling up at Shaq’s house.

I removed my heels before checking to make sure Ty made it home. By the time I finished all of that, Shaq was pulling up and getting out of her car. Getting out behind her, I walked to her door and waited for her to let us in. As soon as we were inside, I just stood there and stared at her.

“Sissie, you can sleep in the bed with me.”

“How long have you been sleeping with Garrett?” Her ass continued to the kitchen as if I didn’t say anything to her. From the way she avoided looking at me, I knew she heard me. “If I have to ask you again, we’re going to have a problem.”

“How long do you think I’ve been doing it?

” She finally responded. When I smelled her perfume at the club, it all hit me out of nowhere.

Garrett came home smelling just like that every night.

Once that registered, it triggered different thoughts to pop in my head.

It was like a magnet. All the pieces were being pulled together.

When Mila got diagnosed, I remember he left even though I was crying my eyes out.

I heard him on the phone talking to some bitch named Denise.

Shortly after that, Shaq started coming around and helping me with Mila. Then when I used her info to go to the doctor, they told me my Chlamydia was back. The perfume was the last piece to the puzzle.

“When Mila got diagnosed.”

“Exactly, Sissie. That’s our man. If it wasn’t for your contract, he would have been left your ass.

” I gave off a psychotic laugh before charging across the room.

Not even waiting to see what she was going to do, I hit her in the mouth.

Somewhere along the way, I blacked out because I don’t remember shit.

When I snapped out of it, she was on the ground bleeding and screaming for someone to help her.

Grabbing her by her hair, I dragged her to the coat closet and threw her ass inside.

“You bout as dumb as they come. He controls the contract. So, if he wanted your stupid ass, all he had to do was rip the shit up. You’re in time out, and you’re going to stay in here and think about that until I let you out.

” Closing the door, I pushed the button to lock it and walked out of her house.

Jumping in my car, I drove fast as hell to my house.

I didn’t care who he fucked, but my sister though?

That was some bold and nasty shit. When I pulled up, I grabbed my keys, and jumped out of the car.

I wasted no time putting my key in the lock and running to my bedroom.

I knew Mila would be sleep, and I prayed we didn’t wake her.

When I walked in my bedroom, Garrett was lying there watching tv.

“Did you have a good time?” Not answering him, I ran over to the bed and jumped on top of him.

Not giving him time to figure out what was happening, I began plummeting his face.

He was trying to block the hits, but they were coming too fast. “Blaise, what the fuck is going on?” After a while, I had no more fight in me.

Climbing off him, I grabbed some pajamas out of my drawer.

“Now you and your bitch Denise have matching knots. If you come anywhere near me I will kill you.” Walking out of the room, I went in Mila’s bedroom. After I changed into my pajamas, I climbed in the bed with her and went to sleep.
