Chapter 21 Shadows Behind the Curtain

Morning sunlight slowly filtered through the curtains of Rathore Mansion.

The previous night's charity gala had become the biggest topic in the business community.

Newspapers carried headlines about the missing Heritage Diamond Necklace.

Fortunately...

The incident had ended without any major scandal.

Still...

People couldn't stop discussing the mysterious note.

Wrong Bag.

Nobody understood its meaning.

---

Inside the dining hall...

The Rathore family gathered for breakfast.

Karan unfolded the newspaper.

"I still don't understand."

"Who would steal the necklace..."

"...only to hide it inside a flower arrangement?"

Riya shrugged.

"Maybe someone wanted attention."

Raghav disagreed.

"No."

"That person knew exactly what they were doing."

Rajveer slowly folded his newspaper.

"Whatever happened..."

"They prevented an innocent person from being blamed."

His words unconsciously made everyone's eyes drift toward Aadhira.

She quietly continued drinking her coffee.

Calm.

Unbothered.

As though the incident had never happened.

Only Arjun noticed...

For someone who had almost been publicly humiliated...

She appeared unusually composed.

---

Meanwhile...

Astra Global Headquarters.

Kabir hadn't slept.

Coffee cups surrounded his workstation.

Dozens of screens displayed encrypted codes.

Suddenly...

One monitor flashed.

Kabir immediately leaned forward.

"I found you..."

He quickly enlarged the information.

A hidden server.

Multiple encrypted routes.

A fake company.

Before he could trace it completely...

The screen suddenly went black.

Connection terminated.

Kabir clenched his jaw.

"So close..."

Shanaya entered the room.

"Another dead end?"

Kabir nodded.

"But this time..."

"I know he's real."

"Someone is paying a fortune to break into our systems."

Aadhira silently listened.

Her expression remained unreadable.

She looked toward Kabir.

"Keep searching."

"We're closer than they think."

Kabir nodded confidently.

"I'll find him."

Aadhira gave a small nod.

"I know."

---

That evening...

Aadhira's phone vibrated.

Unknown Number.

She quietly excused herself from the Rathore family living room before answering.

"...Hello."

A disguised voice spoke calmly.

"The second surprise is waiting."

Aadhira didn't ask who it was.

"Location?"

A message immediately appeared on her phone.

An abandoned warehouse...

On the outskirts of the city.

The call ended.

She looked at the address for a few seconds.

Then quietly picked up her car keys.

"I have some work."

Arjun looked up from his laptop.

"At this hour?"

"It won't take long."

Without waiting for another question...

She left.

---

Nearly forty minutes later...

The warehouse stood alone beneath the dark sky.

Its rusted gates creaked softly as Aadhira stepped inside.

Only a single hanging bulb illuminated the vast interior.

In the center...

A man sat tied to a metal chair.

His face was bruised.

His clothes were torn.

The moment he saw Aadhira...

Fear filled his eyes.

"You..."

Aadhira calmly walked closer.

"Neil Khurana."

"So..."

"It really was you."

Neil lowered his head.

A bitter laugh escaped him.

"You found me."

Aadhira folded her arms.

"No."

"You were brought to me."

Silence filled the warehouse.

Finally...

She asked quietly,

"Why?"

Neil laughed again.

"This project..."

"It's worth billions."

"You always ruin everything."

"Every international bid..."

"Every government contract..."

"You beat me."

"You destroyed my company."

Aadhira's expression remained calm.

"I competed fairly."

"You lost fairly."

"I don't steal."

Neil suddenly shouted,

"You don't understand!"

"As long as you exist..."

"I'll always lose!"

"So I decided..."

"If I couldn't beat you..."

"I'd take your work instead."

He laughed bitterly.

"I hired the best hackers money could buy."

"I wanted your research."

"I wanted your project."

"But every single time..."

"Your security stopped us."

Aadhira quietly understood.

Kabir had been chasing this man for weeks...

Without knowing his identity.

---

Heavy footsteps echoed behind her.

Aadhira didn't turn immediately.

She already knew someone had arrived.

A figure emerged from the darkness.

Completely hidden beneath a long black coat.

Their face remained concealed by shadows.

Their voice...

Artificially distorted.

"I'll handle the rest."

Aadhira finally turned around.

For a brief second...

Neither spoke.

Then...

The mysterious figure asked,

"What about Kavya?"

Aadhira looked toward the warehouse exit.

"Let her play her game..."

"...a little longer."

The figure gave a slow nod.

"As you wish."

Without another word...

Aadhira walked toward the exit.

She never looked back.

---

The warehouse door slowly closed.

Neil's breathing became faster.

He desperately looked toward the shadowy figure.

"W-Who are you?"

No answer.

The figure slowly stepped closer.

Each footstep echoed through the silent warehouse.

Neil struggled against the ropes.

"Please..."

"I'll disappear."

"I swear."

"I won't touch your company again."

Still...

Silence.

The mysterious figure calmly removed a handgun fitted with a suppressor.

Neil's face turned pale.

"No..."

"Please..."

"I can leave the country."

"I won't tell anyone."

"I don't even know who you are!"

The figure remained motionless.

Only a cold voice echoed through the darkness.

"You made the wrong choice."

Neil's eyes filled with terror.

"P-Please..."

A suppressed gunshot echoed softly through the warehouse.

Thud.

The warehouse fell silent once again.

The mysterious figure looked at Neil's lifeless body for a brief moment.

Then...

Without leaving a single trace behind...

The shadow disappeared into the darkness.

---

At the same time...

Rathore Mansion.

Arjun stood on the balcony looking at the city lights.

His phone vibrated.

It was Siddharth.

"Busy?"

"No."

"I've been thinking."

"About what?"

There was a brief silence.

Then Arjun answered honestly.

"I don't think I understand my wife at all."

Siddharth chuckled softly.

"I was wondering how long it would take you to admit that."

Arjun looked toward the mansion gate.

Just then...

Aadhira's car entered the driveway.

She stepped out calmly.

Exactly as she had left.

No sign of what had happened less than an hour ago.

Arjun watched her quietly.

Every passing day...

He felt there was another side to Aadhira.

A side no one had ever seen.

And somewhere...

Hidden within countless secrets...

He was beginning to want to know the real Aadhira.
