Chapter 29 Silent Changes

The next morning...

The hospital felt much quieter than it had the previous night.

The fear that had gripped both families had slowly begun to fade, replaced by cautious hope.

Everyone stood the moment the doctor walked out of the ICU.

Rajveer stepped forward anxiously.

"Doctor... how is my son?"

The doctor smiled reassuringly.

"The surgery was successful. Mr. Raghav's condition is stable now."

"He has responded well to the treatment."

"We'll keep him under observation for the next twenty-four hours, but he's out of immediate danger."

Relief washed over the corridor.

Savitri folded her hands in gratitude.

Sushma wiped away her tears.

Advik closed his eyes, finally allowing himself to breathe.

Vivaan tugged at Arjun's sleeve.

"Bhai... can I see Papa?"

The doctor smiled warmly.

"You may."

"But only for a minute."

"He's still unconscious."

Vivaan nodded eagerly before following the nurse inside.

Everyone watched through the glass window.

The little boy carefully held Raghav's hand.

"Papa..."

"You promised we'd play cricket together."

"So you have to wake up soon."

"I'll be waiting."

His innocent voice made several eyes turn moist.

Even Aadhira, standing quietly near the window, lowered her gaze.

---

A few hours later...

Raghav was shifted to a private room.

The tense atmosphere finally began to ease.

Doctors and nurses moved in and out while the family settled around the room.

Vivaan refused to leave his father's side.

Seeing him quietly sitting there, Aadhira walked over with a juice box.

"You haven't eaten anything."

Vivaan looked at her.

"What if Papa wakes up?"

Aadhira crouched down to his height.

"Then he'll be happy to see his brave son taking care of himself."

Vivaan smiled a little.

"You think so?"

"I know so."

He finally accepted the juice.

"Thank you..."

Aadhira simply nodded.

"Finish it."

From across the room...

Rajveer and Savitri silently watched everything.

Savitri smiled faintly.

"She notices everyone's needs without being asked."

Rajveer nodded in agreement.

"And she never does it to impress anyone."

For reasons neither of them understood...

their affection for Aadhira quietly grew.

---

Meanwhile...

Meera slowly approached her daughter.

"Aadhira..."

"You haven't had breakfast either."

"I'll ask someone to bring something."

Aadhira turned politely.

"Thank you, Mrs. Devraj."

The words were respectful.

Yet they carried an undeniable distance.

"I'm not hungry."

"I'll stay here for a while."

Without waiting for another response...

she walked back toward Vivaan.

Meera stood frozen.

Rajesh quietly came beside her.

His voice was barely above a whisper.

"She still can't accept us."

Meera lowered her head.

"We expected forgiveness..."

"...when we don't even deserve it."

Nearby...

Aarav and Atharv had heard everything.

Atharv sighed.

"She speaks to us politely."

"But it feels like she's talking to strangers."

Aarav looked toward Aadhira.

"We were the ones who made her feel like one."

Silence followed.

No one had an answer.

---

Hours passed.

Vivaan eventually fell asleep while resting beside his father's bed.

His blanket slowly slipped onto the floor.

Before anyone noticed...

Aadhira quietly picked it up and covered him again.

She adjusted the pillow beneath his head before stepping back.

The small gesture didn't go unnoticed.

Rajveer exchanged a glance with Savitri.

Neither of them spoke.

But both silently admired the young woman standing before them.

She wasn't trying to earn anyone's affection.

Yet somehow...

she was.

---

Arjun had been watching everything from a distance.

He noticed how naturally Aadhira cared for the Rathore family.

She reminded Savitri to take her medicine.

She helped Sushma arrange Raghav's reports.

She comforted Vivaan without making him feel pitied.

Yet whenever the Devraj family approached...

her expression changed.

She remained respectful.

But distant.

There was no warmth.

No familiarity.

It was as though an invisible wall separated her from them.

Arjun couldn't understand it.

He had always believed time healed everything.

But looking at Aadhira...

he realized some wounds simply learned how to stay silent.

---

Just then...

Vedha entered the room.

Her eyes immediately fell on Aadhira.

"So..."

"You've decided to make this hospital your new office?"

Aadhira didn't even look up.

"Whether I stay or leave isn't your concern."

Vedha let out a sarcastic laugh.

"As expected."

"You've always been stubborn."

Aadhira calmly replied,

"And you've always enjoyed interfering in other people's matters."

The room instantly fell silent.

Atharv rubbed his forehead.

"Not again..."

Sushma quickly stepped forward.

"Both of you..."

"This is a hospital."

"Please stop."

Vedha folded her arms.

"I wasn't the one who started it."

Aadhira looked at her calmly.

"I wasn't talking to you until you spoke to me."

For a moment...

the two sisters simply stared at each other.

Neither willing to back down.

Finally...

Vedha scoffed.

"Unbelievable."

She turned around and walked out of the room.

Aadhira simply looked away and continued checking on Vivaan.

As though the argument had never happened.

Rajveer sighed.

Arjun remained silent.

His eyes stayed on Aadhira.

She never tried to explain herself.

Never defended herself.

She simply did what she believed was right.

And somehow...

that quiet strength stayed with him.

For the first time...

Arjun found himself wanting to understand the woman everyone else seemed to misunderstand.
