Chapter 19 #2
Every touch spoke the promises we'd been living for months, and every kiss replaced another memory neither of us wanted to carry anymore.
The next thirty minutes were two people madly in love, claiming each other with the urgency that brought the biggest orgasm I had ever experienced.
When his teeth found their place on my neck, I had already found mine on his. We chose each other the way we had always been meant to, fully and finally, with nothing left between us that had not already been decided.
The bond felt profoundly real the moment it was sealed, immediate and complete, unlike the restrictive structure I had endured for all those years. It was my body finally understanding, after more than twenty years, what it truly means to feel at home.
His arms tightened. "Dana," he said. Into my hair. "I love you, darling."
"I know," I said. "I love you always."
We maintained a quiet that follows something authentic — not merely the absence of words, but the presence of something that doesn't need them.
We showered quickly, dressed, and kissed again by the front door before I turned and smiled.
“I need more of that,” I said with confidence I had never known.
“More you shall have, darling.” He gently slapped my ass, drawing out that giggle he loved so much.
"Ready," he said. Not a question.
"Ready," I said.
We walked out of the cabin together.

DESTINY
By the time we reached the gate, the compound had already shifted into formation.
Marcus stood at the front with Ty at his right and Darius and Carter to his left.
Sage three steps behind him and two ahead of me — Luna's position, assumed without direction, the instinct of a woman who knew exactly where she needed to be.
Mama Mara stood beside me, her warmth wrapping around me and her hand gently resting on my back, calming something that had been tense within me since the phone call.
Then Mom and Papa Ev stepped out of the cabin.
They walked side by side with the quiet confidence of two people who had already won something no one could ever take away.
The first thing I noticed was her smile.
Her shoulders were relaxed. Her eyes were brighter. She looked lighter somehow, like she'd finally laid down a weight she'd carried too long.
Papa Ev's hand rested against the small of her back.
I swallowed hard.
Mom came straight to me.
She cupped my face in both hands.
"I'm alright," she said softly.
I searched her eyes.
"You look... different."
"I am."
Before I could ask anything else, engines echoed down the road.
Three black SUVs rolled toward the gate and stopped.
Four Councilmen stepped out.
The man carrying the folder walked forward without hesitation.
"Alpha Monroe, we're here on behalf of Councilman Sheldon William Lancaster III regarding the Omega Dana Phillips, who is listed as his legal mate within the Council registry."
Ice rolled through my veins.
"You are not taking my mother."
The words came out before I realized I'd spoken.
The temperature around us dropped.
The Councilman looked at me, then at Sage.
Sage's violet eyes burned.
"I'd be very careful with whatever comes out of your mouth next."
He hesitated.
Mom gently touched Sage's shoulder before stepping forward.
The line opened for her.
Not because she needed protection.
Because this was her fight.
She looked directly at the Councilman.
"I understand why you're here."
Her voice was calm.
Steady.
Completely fearless.
"I understand the paperwork. I understand the authority your Council believes it carries."
Then she pulled back the collar of her shirt.
The fresh mate mark caught the afternoon light.
Every Councilman froze.
"I am mated," Mom said, lifting her chin. "To my fated mate, Everett Phillips."
She reached for Papa Ev's hand.
"I survived twenty-three years of captivity under the man who sent you. He called it law. He called it fated. He called me his."
Her voice sharpened.
"He was wrong."
Silence settled over the gate.
"No document can erase my choice."
"No Council can rewrite my soul."
"And no man—"
Her eyes hardened.
"—will ever own me again."
Papa Ev stepped beside her, their joined hands impossible to miss.
Marcus moved forward, standing with them instead of in front of them.
"Dana Phillips is Pack Monroe," Marcus said evenly. "She is under the protection of the Mystic Warriors, and you've just witnessed her sealed true-mate bond."
He glanced at the folder.
"So explain to me how she's legally mated to Sheldon Lancaster."
The Councilman couldn't. He stepped aside to make a call.
When he returned, his confidence was gone.
"Councilman Lancaster extends... his congratulations."
His jaw tightened.
"And asked me to tell you..."
He looked directly at Mom.
"...he'll be seeing you all very soon."
Mom didn't flinch.
"We'll be here."
The Councilmen turned and left. None of us moved until the vehicles disappeared beyond the tree line.
Marcus finally exhaled. "Welcome officially to the Mystic Warriors, Dana."
He looked at Papa Ev with a grin.
"Nice move."
Darius was already heading toward the war room.
"One hour," Marcus called.
I looked at Mom. "He's coming."
"I know."
"Were you afraid?"
She smiled, and this time there wasn't a trace of the woman who'd spent twenty-three years surviving.
"No."
She reached for my hand. "I've spent enough of my life letting that man steal my joy."
Her smile widened. "Besides..." She held up her marked neck with unmistakable pride. "The bonding happened early."
She looked toward Mama Mara and Larissa.
"My ceremony isn't canceled."
Mama Mara blinked.
"It isn't?"
Mom laughed.
"Absolutely not."
She slipped her arm through Papa Ev's.
"I waited twenty-three years to celebrate with this man."
Her eyes sparkled. "Now it's simply a celebration party."
Larissa clapped her hands together. "Oh, thank goodness. I was not wasting all those candles."
For the first time since the Council vehicles had appeared, laughter spread through the pack.
The war was still coming.
William Lancaster was still coming. But so was the celebration.
And no one—not even William—would take that away from my mother.
