Chapter 15

POV: Suzy

Sunlight filtered in through the tall windows, warm and lazy across the sheets. I blinked slowly, floating somewhere between sleep and waking, my limbs tangled in crisp white linens that smelled like clean cotton and Logan.

My body ached—in the best way. A low, delicious soreness between my thighs reminded me exactly why I felt like I’d just run a marathon on a cloud.

And then I felt him.

A strong arm curled around my waist. A slow, sleepy breath against the back of my neck. Bare skin pressed to mine, everywhere. His chest, his thighs, his—

Oh. God.

He was hard. And nestled right against me like he’d been molded there.

I bit back a smile and shifted slightly.

His arm tightened.

“Don’t,” he murmured, voice gravel and heat in my ear. “Unless you’re trying to start something neither of us will finish before breakfast.”

A laugh bubbled out of me before I could stop it. “Good morning to you too, Dr. Kaiser.”

He groaned, burying his face in my hair. “You’re going to be the death of me.”

“I think that’s rich coming from the man who made me come so hard I forgot my own name.”

He chuckled low, wicked. “Was that what that unintelligible sound was? I thought maybe you’d lost the ability to form words.”

I elbowed him playfully, and he caught my wrist, turning me to face him.

And just like that—teasing vanished.

Because his eyes. God, his eyes.

Moss green and molten, like the night had stripped him bare in more ways than one.

He reached up and brushed a lock of hair from my cheek. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” I whispered. “More than okay.”

Something flickered in his expression—relief, affection, maybe something deeper. He leaned in and kissed me softly, a whisper of lips on mine. A promise.

Then his hand slid under the sheet, low on my waist.

“Still sore?”

I blushed, and nodded, and bit my lip.

He smirked. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“You should. You’ve ruined me for normal mornings.”

“Good,” he said, kissing the edge of my jaw. “Because this is your new normal now.”

My heart did something stupid and fluttery.

“You mean waking up in your bed, tangled up with you, too sore to walk straight?”

“And coffee,” he added, already reaching for the phone on the nightstand. “Room service delivers. I’m not letting you hobble around on that ankle.”

I groaned. “You’re never letting me live that down, are you?”

“Never,” he said, dialing. “It’s part of your charm. Sexy, sunny, breaks ankles and hearts.”

I rolled my eyes, laughing. “You’re such an ass.”

He gave me a look that made my toes curl under the covers. “You weren’t complaining last night.”

And just like that, the heat was back.

Simmering between us like it had never left.

But under it all, beneath the banter and teasing and the sex so good it should be illegal… was something quieter. Realer.

The way he looked at me. The way I wanted to stay.

And maybe, just maybe… the way we already fit.

He kissed my forehead like it meant something and got up, muttering something about needing to “refuel” me because, according to Dr. Logan Kaiser, I’d burned way too many calories last night.

“I’m a medical professional,” he said as he slipped on his boxers, glancing back with a crooked smirk. “It’s my responsibility to keep you nourished.”

“Nourished?” I raised an eyebrow, still sprawled naked on his bed like a very satisfied heathen. “Are you writing me a meal plan now, Doctor?”

He shot me a look that was way too smug. “Only if it involves breakfast in bed and very few clothes.”

He turned, disappearing toward the kitchen. I waited maybe ten seconds before I got up, grabbed his shirt from the floor, and slid it over my skin. Slowly. Deliberately. No underwear, of course.

It hung low on my thighs and smelled like him—clean soap, coffee, and sex. I ran my fingers through my hair, glanced in the mirror, and decided I looked exactly how I wanted to look: like the girl who’d thoroughly rocked Logan Kaiser’s world last night.

I padded into the kitchen, barefoot and humming, and leaned against the doorway just in time to catch him pouring coffee.

He looked up.

And stopped.

His eyes did that thing—that slow, heated scan that made my thighs press together.

“I thought I told you to rest,” he said, but his voice had dropped, his grip tightening on the mug. “That’s not resting.”

“I couldn’t resist.” I walked in slowly. “You’re out here being domestic and sexy. It’s very hard to stay in bed when you’re acting like a husband I never asked for.”

He set the coffee down and turned fully toward me. “You’re wearing my shirt.”

“Mmhmm,” I said sweetly, running a hand down the hem like I hadn’t planned this very moment before even leaving the bedroom. “Hope you don’t mind.”

“I mind,” he growled, walking toward me in that deliberate, predatory way that made every nerve in my body light up. “Because now I can’t think straight.”

I laughed, but it caught halfway when he reached me. His hands slid to my hips, then down the backs of my thighs.

“Jump,” he said, voice low.

I did. He caught me, lifting me effortlessly and placing me on the kitchen counter like he owned every part of this house—and me.

I braced myself with both palms behind me as his hands slid under the shirt, dragging up my thighs slowly, teasingly, until he found bare skin and let out a groan that sounded like it came from somewhere deep.

“No panties?” he asked, leaning in, brushing his nose along my jaw.

“Why would I waste time looking for them?”

“Suzy…” he said like a warning, but his voice was already wrecked with need. His fingers dug into my thighs, pulling me closer to the edge. “You keep testing me like this, you’re not getting breakfast. You’re getting bent over this counter.”

I grinned, teeth sinking into my bottom lip. “So much for nourishment.”

He chuckled, low and rough, and kissed me again—hot, hungry, hands roaming like he couldn’t decide whether to devour me or behave.

“Okay,” he said, finally pulling back, his breath ragged. “Breakfast. I need to feed you before I fuck you again.”

“Language, Doctor,” I teased, hopping down from the counter and swaying just enough to remind him what I wasn’t wearing. “Let’s cook.”

We did, sort of.

There was more kissing than cooking, more laughing than measuring.

I broke eggs while he stood behind me, arms around my waist, whispering distractions into my ear.

He made toast with one hand while the other stayed on my ass.

When we finally sat at the little kitchen table, plates full of barely acceptable breakfast, it felt so good.

Easy. Like the afterglow of something real.

But that tension—oh, it didn’t go away.

And when I reached for another slice of toast and the shirt lifted just enough to show skin, he dropped his fork.

“I’ve had enough,” Logan said roughly, pushing his chair back and standing. “Get over here.”

I raised a brow. “I thought we were—”

He didn’t wait.

He reached me in two steps, gripped my waist, and threw me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing.

I yelped, laughing as I bounced against him. “Logan!”

“I warned you,” he said, marching down the hall with one possessive hand on the back of my thigh. “You don’t get to tempt me in my kitchen wearing nothing but my shirt and expect me to behave.”

“And where exactly are we going?”

“To the shower,” he growled. “Where I’m going to make you come against the tile before we even think about leaving this house.”

My whole body shivered. “You sure you’re not the one burning calories here, Doctor?”

“Oh, I plan on burning them,” he said, kicking the bathroom door open. “But only after I’ve filled you up again.”

And just like that, the teasing was done.

We had unfinished business—and Logan Kaiser never left a job half done.
