EPILOGUE
“You,” said an angry Gand. She was big, larger than Gand was and had the muscles to show for it.
Gand already knew the reason why. She had survived since the extinction of the Dragons and was not only born to two strong warriors who had to fight others to the death for the right to survive and breed, she herself had taken and passed the trials.
She was a legitimate fighter and her attitude let Gand know that she wasn't scared.
“You don't come into my home yelling at me,” Gand said as he matched her tone.
“You think you can stop me?” the Gand asked as she changed her posture into a fighting stance.
“I already know that I can,” Gand said. “Now what are you doing in my home and looking for a fight?”
“Why are you here?” the Gand asked.
“Because I bought this place,” Gand said as he matched her tone.
“I'm not one of these Orcs,” the Gand said.
“Neither am I,” Gand said angrily. “Now either make your move or talk to me with some respect.”
Gand knew that she was surprised that he attacked her first. It was a good hard shot that backed her up and put her on her behind. She shot up quickly and Gand slipped her kick and hit her again with a big punch and sat her right back down.
“I am a male and I already know your moves,” Gand said. “I have had this fight hundreds of times before you walked through the door.”
“Then you know what is about to happen,” the Gand said as she got up slowly.
Gand knew that she would go to grappling and she would take a lot of shots to get there.
She would eventually win the fight, well she would have if it remained a one on one and Julix didn't come in and start pounding on her.
She would attempt to fight off Julix and wouldn't be able to take her down quickly enough before Gand was up on her.
The fight wouldn't be competitive after that.
The Goblins would come in and the elven girls from upstairs would also come down wielding chairs.
“You want to grapple with me and will take many big punches before you manage to get me down. You are stronger and more skilled so you would be well on your way to winning before a friend of mine comes in. Together we would be able to take you then many more of my friends would jump in until you are beaten down. We had this fight only because it is the only way that you would listen to me.”
“The Mystics are all dead,” the Gand said.
“No they aren’t, La’ar,” Gand said, using her name.
“Why aren't you helping us kill the humans?” La’ar asked.
“Not my war,” Gand said.
“Where have you been, why haven't you seeked out others of our kind?” La’ar asked.
Gand told her his story, about how he came to be, how he got to Glendale and how he got his home.
Julix had walked in during the story and just sat and listened.
La’ar asked some questions and once they were answered she told Gand about the others.
Gand already had this conversation so he knew about them.
There were three other males that were full Gand.
One was her father and he was leading the war effort.
The other two were weak males who should have been culled.
One had been left for dead and somehow made it out and healed up.
He was a little smaller than Gand and La’ar refused to mate with him.
He wasn't interested in learning how to fight or how to take care of himself. He could beat almost anyone in Oasis except for a few of the Orcs. The other never participated in the trials and was young when the last of the dragons were killed. He had hid and was found a year or two after everything was settled. There were half Gand there, all were a mix with Orcs. They looked like Orcs except they were red. Gand had found out that all Red Orcs had a Gand somewhere in their bloodline which was the reason for the color. La’ar was scandalized when she found out that Gand was seeing an Elf.
She let her displeasure be known and thought that she was just going to order him to go to Oasis and join in the fight.
“I’m not getting involved,” Gand said. “You are welcome to stay here if you want.”
“Those humans attacked us, just like they attack everything,” La’ar said.
“The humans aren't united anymore,” Gand said.
“They are separated. You have already proved your point to Desia.
If I get involved there is a chance that Desia would fall.
Then what? Do you stop there or do you attack another human settlement?
We don't have the numbers and I don't want to kill a bunch of people.”
“You are a coward then,” La’ar said.
“You aren't fighting for anything and you can win this war without me,” Gand replied. “You are winning this war without me.”
“We are too few to live separately,” La’ar said.
“We are trying to build something so the other scattered ones will come. You are all too busy with these others instead of trying to grow our numbers. What happens when they die? We are the only ones left that can live forever without getting old and weak.”
“Something I didn't know until we had this conversation,” Gand said. “Still, I don't want any part of it.”
“My father will come down here to see you once everything is settled,” La’ar said.
“He was the strongest warrior even when there were many Mystics around. He has fought and killed Mystics, fought and killed humans and everything else. He will not be happy that you are living your life this way. You could be doing the same thing in Oasis.”
“So could the others that you mentioned,” Gand said.
“You are the only Mystic,” La’ar said. “You should want to be around your people. You hold no allegiance to this place.”
“I don't hold any allegiance here,” Gand replied.
“Still doesn't mean that I am going to get involved in some war just because you want me to.
I'm no coward, I just leave people alone who haven't done anything to me.
Your Father may be the strongest warrior ever, that doesn't mean that I bow down to him or that the people of Glendale would allow him to come in here and make trouble.”
Well that's it reader. So I got some good news and some not so good news.
The good news is that I have a few more books to put out after this one.
One of them is a sequel. The bad news is that Amazon severely restricted the amount of titles that you can put out in a week.
As of now, there is a two book limit. It wouldn't be so annoying if I didn't have six books ready to go.
I had to wait a week just to put this one out.
Anyways so it is a bit of a war going on in the Flowers household.
My daughter is making the unforgivable action of joining the Marine Corps.
Since both of her parents are Army all the way, we give her a side eye now.
What brought this all on? My daughter hates school.
We told her that before she signed up for college.
When properly motivated (Like taking her car away) she can become a very good student.
But she still hates school. In the Flowers household there are rules you must follow.
There are three of them and you only have to choose one once you hit 18.
The first one is, Go to School!!! That includes any trade school out there.
The only caveat is that since I am paying for it, I have to agree on whatever it is.
No Latin American studies, Insectology, etc.
it has to be something that you can make some decent money in.
She can of course pick whatever she wants if she is paying for it and I mean in total.
Currently she is at the Dorms at the University of New Mexico.
Same goes for trade schools, I have to agree on whatever it is.
If college isn't her jam then behind door #2 is the military.
Go there, get you some seasoning, some maturity and come back.
Only caveat is to know your worth, pick a job that you can get a bit of money in when or if you get out.
Choice number three is to leave. I don't do gap years, I don't do dead end jobs, or backpacking across Europe.
All of that can be accomplished out of my home and don't expect me to pay for anything.
She can of course come back home but when she does, the choices are still there.
With that said, she told me that college isn't for her and she will finish out the semester and join the military.
I sorta think her picking the Corps. was a subtle way to get back at us.
Anyway, thanks for the reviews, they are helpful.
