Chapter 18 The Dream

I took a deep breath and looked up at him.

"Zhao Yan, haven't you always wanted to know why I hate you?"

"Because I had a dream. After I married you, you stopped loving me."

He said, "Impossible."

"You killed my entire clan and gave away the two children I gave birth to."

He frowned. "I would never do that to you."

I continued.

"When I died, I was only twenty-seven. By then you had already fallen in love with someone else. You treated her with respect and affection. In the imperial garden, you picked plum blossoms and tucked them into her hair, praising her beauty."

Zhao Yan stayed silent for a long time after hearing this.

He looked at me, his eyes dark and unreadable.

"The scene you described, I seem to have dreamed of it too."

My gaze lifted.

He gave a bitter smile.

"Ever since I returned from the hunting grounds that day, I have often dreamed of that scene. But the woman's face in the dream was too blurry to see clearly. I thought it was just my mind playing tricks, that the person was you... I never expected it to be something that had actually happened."

I was speechless.

After a long while, he finally spoke.

"You should go."

"Don't come back."
