Chapter 25 A Crib He Built
I returned to the villa, exhausted.
I had not even turned on the light when Feng Si wrapped his arms tightly around me from behind.
He buried his head in the crook of my neck and kept apologizing.
"Don't take my parents' words to heart. They're used to giving orders. I'll apologize for them."
"The Video... someone who repaired the computer leaked it out of malice. I've already handled it."
"I'm sorry, Gu Qian. I didn't mean to hide it from you. You can hit me, you can curse me, but I'm begging you not to hate me."
Warm, wet tears dropped onto my neck. The itch spread.
"Now everyone has seen the cheap way I wagged my tail and begged you. Are you satisfied?"
"I was born to be Feng Si's dog. When you're happy, you tease me. When you're not, you invent new ways to torture me."
"What new trick has Feng Si thought of this time?"
I clawed at the raised scar on my wrist until it bled, but the itch in my chest would not stop.
"There's no trick... I only want to be with you, for a lifetime..."
He took my hand, brought me to the guest room door, dropped to one knee, and begged me to give him a place to belong.
The moment the bedroom door opened, I stared, eyes wide with shock.
Starry wallpaper covered the walls. Infant supplies were piled like a mountain.
Feng Si pointed at the crib in the center of the room and said, looking proud.
"I put it together myself. Impressive, right?"
"And clothes for the child. I bought one set for a boy and one for a girl, just in case."
He paused. A hint of shyness showed on his face. "Besides, we might even have a second child..."
My heart did not stir at all.
I only felt relief—relief that I finally had a chip to use against him.
