Chapter 6

The carpet in my room should have had deep divots in them along the length of the space because of all the pacing I’d done since last night. I’d barely gotten any sleep because I couldn’t really wrap my mind around the decision I’d made the day before.

How I went from pointing a gun at a bitch because of Beretta to agreeing to a date within five minutes was beyond me.

Granted, I knew the gun wasn’t loaded. Beretta had told me a while ago that none of the display guns had bullets in them, but I hoped the graphic designer bitch hadn’t known that.

A smile creased my face as I thought about how scared she looked when I stood over her with the gun.

“You really are nutty, you know that?” Capri said from her spot on my bed.

I glared at her before I stuck my middle finger up.

Why I called her, I had no idea. I felt like I was in a damn crisis and had a lapse in judgement.

I loved my sister dearly, but we couldn’t be more opposite.

Baby sis was calm and in her soft girl era from the moment our mama pushed her big ass head out.

I had always been the rowdy, rough girl who protected her.

She was my best friend, along with Chyna and Chiara, but none of them could understand what I was going through right now.

“Shut the hell up, Pri, and help me come up with an excuse to get out of this date.” My heart squeezed painfully at the thought, but I ignored it.

I didn’t know how to go on a damn date. There was no way this would be a good idea.

Beretta and I did well physically, but when it came to emotions, we were liable to fuck the whole city up.

Wouldn’t going on an actual date mean getting emotions involved?

They’re already involved, bitch.

I shook my head in frustration and muttered to myself, trying to make sense of my predicament, and, better yet, how I could get out of it.

“I’ll do no such thing,” she muttered as she scrolled nonchalantly on her phone. Irritation flared within me, and I snatched her phone out of her hand and chucked it onto the floor. “Hey, psycho! Cut it out. You really do entirely too much.”

Once again, I stuck my middle finger up at her. It was childish, I knew, but she really wasn’t any help at the moment, which irritated my soul.

“Come on, Capri. Help me. It’s why I called you,” I begged, and I wasn’t even a begging type of bitch, but I felt desperate.

Capri got up and bent to grab her phone. Once she had it in her hand, she looked at me and shook her head. “I am helping you. I helped you get ready for your first date ever, and now I’m attempting to force you to go through with it.”

I huffed out a breath as I flopped onto my bed. “I can’t, Pri. Dating ain’t for me.”

“Says who?”

I looked at her like she lost her mind. “Have you met me? Better yet, have you met Beretta?”

Capri giggled as she sat down on the bed across from me. “Met you both, and honestly, you two are perfect for each other if you’d get out of your damn heads and learn to love on each other a little and not just fuck and fight.”

I blinked at her and took my time before responding. “But . . . that’s what we do best.”

“How do you know unless you try something new?”

My mind flashed to what Beretta had said yesterday. His words were similar to my sister’s. I didn’t understand why I was the only one who thought this wasn’t the brightest idea.

I thought of what I could say to her to get her to understand, but I took too long because before I could say anything, I heard the front door unlock, and Beretta shouted, “Juicy, come on!”

Capri’s brows scrunched. “You gave him a key?”

I got off the bed and glanced at myself in the mirror as I responded. “No.”

My black skinny jeans, purple shirt, and black jean jacket paired nicely with some black heeled booties. I’d gotten my hair done earlier in some Fulani braids, and I even put a little makeup on with Capri’s help. I had to admit that I looked the fuck good.

“Then how did he get a key?” Capri asked.

I eyed her through the mirror. “Again, have you met Beretta? He don’t really ask for shit. He just takes.”

Capri chuckled and shook her head as she followed me out of the room.

I stopped when I spotted Beretta at the front door with his hands in his black pants pockets, looking around as if he was trying to be on his best behavior.

When his eyes found mine, I saw a hint of crazy flash through them before lust took its place.

“You ready?”

I nodded curtly, completely unaware of how I was supposed to respond.

“Hey, Beretta.” Capri greeted him as she grabbed her purse.

“’Sup, sis? You good?”

“Yup. Have fun on your date, you two,” Capri said as Beretta moved to the side and held the front door open for her.

I fought the urge to stick my middle finger up at her again since I felt like she had been zero help. Instead, I waved and grunted, and then Beretta and I were alone.

Silence engulfed us as we eyed each other. I had no idea how to act or what to say, and it seemed like his ass didn’t, either, even though this date was his idea.

He finally cleared his throat and said, “Come on. We’re on a time limit.”

Curiosity surged through me, but I decided to go with the flow, so I grabbed my purse and walked over to him. Before I could step out the door, he grabbed me by my waist and kissed my cheek. “You look good, Juicy.”

I blushed. “Thanks. So do you.”

He beamed down at me, and I felt like I’d won the lottery. I knew Beretta didn’t smile much. Fuck lighting up a room. When he genuinely smiled like this, he lit up the entire universe and poured it all into me, illuminating me from within. My heart tap danced to a funny beat as I gazed at him.

It was my turn to clear my throat. “Ready?”

He blinked as if he didn’t realize how lost he’d just gotten in my gaze.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

I locked up, and we walked to his car in an awkward silence.

I wasn’t sure if I should hold his hand or not.

It wasn’t like I hadn’t before. Whenever we were in public together, one of us snatched the other’s hand to ward off thirsty bitches or niggas who stared a little too long.

But this felt so different. It felt more intimate, and I wasn’t sure how to navigate that.

When we got to his car, he opened my door for me. I slid inside and waited patiently for him to get in. Once we were on our way to our destination, the awkwardness made me antsy, so I reached for the dash to connect my phone to the car so I could play some music.

As soon as rap music flowed from the speakers, Beretta reached over and turned it down.

“Ain’t we supposed to talk or somethin’?” Beretta asked.

I shrugged. “Uh, . . . I don’t know. Maybe?”

“I think we is.” He nodded once, like he figured it all out. Like this dating thing had a guide or a formula I had yet to lay eyes on.

Silence filled the car again, and I side-eyed him.

“Okay,” I said slowly. “So talk, nigga.”

He glanced at me with a frown. “I don’t know what to talk about.”

“And I do?” I screeched. The stress of this whole thing was definitely getting to me.

He chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Aight, man. Look, it ain’t like we ain’t kicked it before. This shit shouldn’t be so hard.”

I sighed. “You’re right. This whole dating thing has me a bit geeked out.”

“Aye, I won’t lie, me too, but if Keegan’s ass can go on dates and be romantic, then shit, so the fuck can I.”

I grinned at him. “You know what? You’re right. And I can’t be the only bitch on the planet that doesn’t know how to enjoy a date, right?”

“Damn right, baby.” His hand found my thigh, and I felt like melting into the seat. Beretta called me baby often, but there was something about the way he just said it that caused my insides to quake.

“Okay, then. From this moment on, we’re going to enjoy this date. Bet?”

“That’s a bet.”

I beamed. “Cool. So, did you find a new graphic designer yet?”

“Did you find a new pair of balls to wax?”

I shrieked with laughter. This man literally said anything that came to his mind. That was why I liked his ass so damn much.

The rest of the ride was filled with familiar banter between us. When we pulled up to a building with a sign that read Locked In Escape Rooms, my eyes lit up. “An escape room? That’s what we’re doing?”

He nodded. “Hope that’s cool wit’ you. I had to Google some ideas since you ain’t want it to be all romantic and shit. I thought we could do this and then get drinks or somethin’ after.”

“It’s perfect.” I squeezed his hand that still rested on my thigh.

After he parked, he turned to give me his full attention. With a serious face, he said, “Let me see a tittie before we go in.”

“What?” I thought for sure I heard him wrong.

“A tittie. Let me see one. You lookin’ good as fuck, Juicy, and I’m tryna be a gentleman for the first time in my life, so I’m not about to tell you to bend over in my back seat so I can dick you down, but I need a lil somethin’ to get me through this date. Show me a tittie.”

I giggled. “I’ll show you two if you show me your dick.”

Beretta unbuckled his seat belt and then the belt looped around his pants so fast, I almost missed it. His dick sprang out of his boxers after he pulled them and his pants down, and my mouth watered.

“I know that look, Juicy. I need you to hold it together for me for a little bit. Can you do that? I just need to see a lil somethin’ before we go up in there.

I really wanna do this dating thing right.

Can you do that for daddy? Let me see those pretty ass nipples.

” He slowly stroked his big ass dick as he spoke.

My pussy clenched. He had no idea that when he spoke to me like that, he could get whatever the hell he wanted out of me.

Slowly, I slid my jacket off and then lifted my shirt and popped my titties out of my bra. Beretta licked his lips, and he reached out and pinched one of my nipples. I moaned, and my legs automatically opened.
