Chapter 9
“Yall sure about this? I feel crazy in these heels.” Aubree and Sass were looking at me like proud parents, but I felt out of place.
My uncle was sleep back at the house, so I called them up and asked them to help me dress like a girl for once.
I was starting to think this was a mistake as I tugged on the thong that was cutting my ass.
“You look perfect. I know this is not how you normally dress but trust me. You look good as fuck. You made me gay for about twenty seconds,” Aubree said with a proud look in her eyes.
“Girl.” I waved her off. “You hyping me up, and I thank you, but we both know you been shitting on bitches for a long time.”
“That is true, but two things can be right at the same time. You looking good as well doesn’t take anything away from me being a bad bitch.” I could feel what Aubree was saying.
“Well, don’t look over here. My ass look like a whale, ain’t shit sexy about the last term of a pregnancy.” Me and Aubree both smacked our lips at Sass. She looked damn good even though she waddled a lil bit when she walked.
“Both of you bitches trying to play in my face. Let me do a slight beat to your face, and you will be ready. Trust me, he’s going to love it.
” Trusting Aubree’s process, I sat in the chair and allowed her to put a little makeup on my face.
When she was done, I had to admit I looked nice.
Different, but nice. Giving them a hug, I headed back to Dodge’s house.
I wasn’t sure if it was mine too, but I had been there since we fucked.
He didn’t officially ask me to move in, but he kept saying I was his girl.
I’m not sure how it works in Diamond Cove, but you tell me I’m yours and ain’t no after, I’m moving in.
Jumping in Pinky, I pulled off and drove towards the house.
It was a nice night out, and I was glad.
This dress left nothing to the imagination, and if it was cold out, I would have changed quick.
I hated being cold. When I pulled up to the house, I got out and walked inside.
Uncle Pooh was walking towards the foyer.
“What the hell you got on?” I did a twirl hoping he said I looked cute.
“A dress. This is how girls supposed to dress.”
“Yeah, girls who trying to tell a nigga they selling something. You already got Dodge; you don’t need to dress like this.” I could see the stressed look on his face. No parent wanted their baby to grow up, but he would be alright.
“Unc, I do not look like I’m trying to sell cat. Stop it. You think Dodge is going to like it?”
“I think he better like whatever you have on. Even if it’s jogging pants. Let me ask you something. You couldn’t find a nice friendly nigga down here in these sticks?” I laughed hard this time because Dodge was definitely mean as hell.
“You know I like them a lil toxic and crazy like me.” Before he could respond, Dodge walked in the house and his eyes damn near fell out of his eyes.
“I thought we was going to dinner? You trying to swing by the motel and sell a lil cat?” My mouth dropped open, and my uncle laughed.
“I told you.” I cut my eyes at him before looking back over to Dodge.
“You don’t like it? I wanted to do something different, but I can go change if it’s too much.”
“Your toes sliding and damn near hanging on the floor, you hunched over like your ass hurt, and your eyebrows running. The question is, do you like it. I’ll want you in anything or nothing at all, shorty.” I looked down at myself and started laughing.
“Fuck yall. I put on some clothes, and I tried my best. Five months from now, I don’t want to hear you tired of me looking like somebody’s son.
” I tried to stomp off playing mad and my foot went one way, while my heel went the other.
I didn’t stand a chance before hitting the floor.
I could hear them laughing, and I swear I wanted to beat they ass.
“It’s okay my lil stud baby, I’ll still want you.
Go change and hurry up. I’m hungry as fuck.
” Taking my heels off, I ran upstairs to the room to put on something more comfortable.
Settling on a crop top and some fitted joggers, I threw that on with some Jordan 1’s.
I looked in the mirror and my makeup was fine.
Dodge was being an asshole. Leaving it on, I ran back down the stairs.
They were laughing like old friends, and I was happy to see it.
Dodge wasn’t the friendliest, and I always wondered how they would get along.
“Okay, I’m ready.” They looked up and I could see the lust in Dodge’s eyes. He really was attracted to me just as I was.
“There go my baby.” Draping his arm around my neck, he led me towards the door.
“Do you see me as just one of the guys? You’re affectionate with me, but sometimes I feel like I’m one of the homies.”
“I don’t dig my dick out in my homies. Plus, you already know I’m not a friendly nigga. I don’t have homies.”
“You can say that again. Oh, and please stop talking about her private parts until I’m on the road and back home.” Uncle Pooh had that disgusted look again causing us to laugh.
“Unc, all I can tell you is pick the room furthest from ours tonight.” Uncle Pooh shook his head as we walked out the door. Me and Unc stopped in our tracks, but Dodge was oblivious. King Donny’s brother, Teelo was standing there with a smirk on his face.
“Fancy seeing you here, Storm.” Dodge’s arm went around me in a protective way. “I must admit, this was a nice lil town to hide in. If it wasn’t for your uncle here, I never would have found your ass.” I looked over at Uncle Pooh trying to see what he was talking about.
“Teelo, I thought we worked it out,” my uncle asked sounding defeated.
“I made you believe we did because I knew you would do exactly this. I knew you were going to go to her letting her know it was safe to come back home. How you figured I would let it ride after she killed my brother is beyond me. Storm-…” Dodge cut Teelo off.
“You don’t address her. Whatever issues you got, take them up with me.” Teelo threw his hands up as if he was surrendering.
“Look, I have no problems with you. This is between us Chicagoans. I know I’m in your city, but man to man, I really hope you stay out of this.” Dodge’s jawline started jumping and his body tensed. Knowing this wasn’t about to go well, I tried to intervene.
“Teelo, I didn’t kill your brother. He crashed while we were racing.”
“What’s your name, homie?”
“Dodge,” I answered because I knew he wouldn’t.
“Dodge, can you kindly tell Storm, I know he crashed and that I know she’s the reason for said crash. It was a lot of witnesses that let me know what happened.” I got pissed hearing that.
“They lied.” Dodge jerked on me before giving me a look. He didn’t want me addressing Teelo.
“Dodge, can you let her know that I find it funny a bunch of witness all said the same thing, but she wants me to believe they are the ones lying.”
“Nigga, stop playing in my face.”
“What? You asked me not to address her, so I’m addressing you. It seems you want us to have a problem, but I’m trying to respect you in your town.”
“If you wanted to respect me, you wouldn’t have showed up here.
I don’t care what the fuck yall had going on in Chicago, you’re a long way from Kansas.
Whatever you think is going to happen, it’s not.
So, why don’t you get back in your lil red Corvette and gone back home to your city where it’s safe.
” Him and Teelo were having a stare down, so I knew I needed to stop this.
“I can prove it. There is a dash cam on my car.” Dodge released me, but he never looked my way.
“Pull up the footage and hand it here,” Dodge said as he continued to stare at Teelo. My hands were shaking, but I scrolled back to the day that changed my life forever. Handing Dodge the phone, I damn near pissed in my pants when he looked at me.
“Stop shaking. If I ever see you fearing another nigga and I’m there, we gone have a problem.” He walked over to Teelo and showed him the footage. I could see realization sink in, but this still could go any way. I stood as still as I could praying I didn’t look scared.
“I need to run this around in my head for a night. I’ll be back tomorrow, and we can finish this out.”
“Nigga, did you not hear me say you don’t run shit here? We have a race tomorrow. You’re welcome to watch, but after that, I’mma need you to gone back home.”
“Like I said, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Teelo walked off and I knew we weren’t going to dinner. Dodge was so pissed you could feel the heat radiating off him. I had no idea how this was going to play out, but I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good.
