Chapter 3
SYNDER
Glancing down at this little spiff of a woman, I tried deciding if her beauty was going to save her from a good cursing out—not because I didn’t respect her boundaries.
On the contrary, I fucked with her stance.
I could’ve only imagined how some niggas acted in the presence of her. She was bad as hell.
No, I wanted to cuss her out for making me stare and causing me to rethink what the hell I thought I knew about love at first sight.
I thought love at first sight meant seeing an undeniable beauty and being captivated by the pure aura of her.
I never thought it was much deeper than that superficial shit.
This was diving headfirst out of an airplane to catch her from falling.
I saw into my future, and her voice was there awakening me from a night’s sleep along with soft kisses.
This was standing in a room full of people and still only hearing her heartbeat.
Her scent was already a memory; it attached itself to me so tough.
I wanted to reach out and touch her to see if she was even real.
This was risking my life to swim to the bottom of the ocean floor just to retrieve the rarest natural pearl for her.
So, that was why she deserved to be cursed out. She surprised me.
“Sienna…”
Her big ole brown eyes widened. “Please, don’t say my name like that.”
Smirking, I asked, “How am I saying it?”
“Like… Like…” She couldn’t form a proper sentence, so I let her off the hook.
“I take it a nigga came at you wrong, and that’s why you refuse to work with single men. Is my assumption correct?”
“Correct,” she replied.
“What is it gon’ cost for you to make an exception for me?”
“Unfortunately, money doesn’t move me, Mr. Sneaux.”
“Aight.” She wanted to be difficult. I’d work around that. “If you had to put ya child into someone’s hands, who would you trust?”
“Well, I don’t have any children.”
“That’s not my question, Baby.”
Her eyes briefly dropped to the floor, but a second later, they were back on mine. “I’d trust myself.”
“So… If my baby girl hates whoever I hire in ya place, I’ma blame you. That’s cool?”
Unexpectedly, she giggled. “No, that’s not cool. You can’t blame me for someone else’s shortcomings.”
Slightly, my head tilted. She sounded so sexy when she giggled. “I absolutely can. The woman I need is standin’ in front of me, but she refuses to be of service to me.” My statement was loaded with heat; except I meant no harm. However, I noticed the subtle flush in her cheeks.
“Mr. Sneaux—”
“How ‘bout we do a test run? If you have any issues, you can kick me to the curb. At least gimme a chance.” Sure, I was begging, but Legend swore by this woman.
“Fine,” she reluctantly stated. One test run.”
“That’s all I need, Baby.”
She glared at me. “And stop with the baby.”
“My fault,” I apologized. “You gon’ have to gimme that one. That’s just the way I talk. I’m not actually referring to you as my baby.”
She blinked a couple of times and said, “Well, good. I have some papers I need you to fill out, and once everything clears, we can move forward. It shouldn’t take more than a day.”
“Cool.” This was a start. My next game wasn’t until Friday, so I had time to get whatever she needed squared away. She led me to the checkout counter, and honestly, I walked behind her while watching her hips sway. I would’ve been a gentleman for her, especially because I needed her for Whimsy.
“These are the forms. Please be as precise as possible,” she instructed. “Also, I’ll need your driver’s license.”
I produced my license and started on the forms while she made copies. Inwardly, I appreciated that she had her shit together. She wasn’t treating me like a famous athlete but like a regular client. In my book, Sienna was already eclipsing the other carpet bug I’d previously hired.
Once I was done, Sienna gathered the papers, gave them a thorough once over, then smiled.
“Aw, Whimsical,” she gushed. “I love your daughter’s name.”
“I call her Whimsy or Whims.”
She giggled. “Very dainty.”
I smiled. “You gon’ love my baby just as much as you love her name.”
She twitched her nose at me and motioned around her boutique. “In general, I love kids.”
Chuckling, I said, “Yeah, about that. Do you hand-sew all these dresses and suits?”
“When I have time.” She shrugged. “I have an assistant who works the boutique when I’m off being a nanny. His work is superb.”
“That’s what’s up,” I stated. “So, should I expect a call from you tomorrow?”
“Absolutely,” she assured, then reached her hand out. “It was good meeting you, Mr. Sneaux.”
I was too quick to shake her hand. Like I previously explained, Sienna deserved to be cursed clean out.
Earlier, when I caught her from falling, I thought the electricity that shot through me was the weight of her body falling into my arms. However, something more powerful overtook me when I placed her small as hand in mine.
Our eyes locked, and she blushed again. Of course, I had to ignore it.
After all, if I fucked this up, I would have had to start from square one to find another nanny. I didn’t have time for that.
“I’ll be waiting to hear from you,” I said to Sienna. She slipped her hand out of mine and demurely smiled.
“Have a good afternoon, Mr. Sneaux.”
“You, too, Sienna.”
I left Prince & Princess Inspired with a light pep in my step.
Sienna hadn’t even met Whimsy yet. However, I knew without a doubt that my baby would love Sienna.
I mean… I did just experience love at first sight with Sienna.
Whimsy was fifteen months old and had plenty good sense.
Sienna was as good as trapped once Whimsy laid eyes on her.
Heading out of Niceville Shores, I made my way to Pensacola to pick up Whimsy. My cousin, Legend, and his wife, Ginger, were looking after Whimsy while I came to see Sienna. Just for putting me on, I would gift my cousin a new vacation property.
