Epilogue

Hugo

ONE YEAR LATER

We both groaned loudly even as we came down from our orgasms, and I couldn’t help but wiggle on Zay’s lap a bit, causing him to groan again. I smiled against his skin, then pulled my fangs out and licked up the small drops of blood, closing his wound.

Leaning back, I pecked my viramore on the lips, then met his sated, happy gaze with one of my own.

“You know,” I said quietly, pressing another kiss to his mouth. “If this is what being a vampire is all about, and I get to sex you up every time I eat, I have no idea why I ever hesitated.”

He laughed and kissed me, long and sweet. “I’m glad you’re okay with being a vampire now. When we first turned you, I… I was worried you’d be mad.”

“Babe, becoming a vampire has been awesome. This last year has been the best of my life. I can see, hear, and smell better, although that last one isn’t always fun.

” He chuckled again, and I shot him a toothy grin as I continued.

“I’m stronger than I could ever imagine.

I can run faster than a cheetah. And I get to eat you anytime I want. It’s perfect.”

He laughed again and pecked my lips. “You sure can. Anytime.”

I hummed and wiggled, his cock still in my ass. It made him groan again.

“If you keep that up, I’m going to get hard again and then you won’t be allowed to leave this bed.”

“That sounds more like an awesome present than a punishment.”

“Agreed, but we have to finish cooking before everyone gets here.”

I sighed. I was excited to see our family and friends—and to rub it in Jett’s face that I was an older baby vamp than he was, even if only by a few months—but I also wanted to stay right here with my viramore.

Sigh.

A small whimpering whine suddenly came from the floor beside the bed, and I leaned over to see our new little half-hellhound, half-unicorn—I didn’t even ask how that was possible because I truly didn’t want to know—sitting there, whining for attention.

Since Zaos was a full-blown RN and was working full-time at the hospital, he had a regular schedule, so we’d decided to go for it and adopt a pet. Of course, we’d picked the weirdest thing at the shelter. I mean, why wouldn’t we?

Zay was truly thriving at his job, and loved it. I was so damn happy for him. He’d worked really hard to get here, and now, he was doing his dream job, and we were both just loving life.

I was still working at the bar, and I saw myself there for a long time.

But… maybe one day in the future, I’d go back to school and get my vet degree.

Having a half-hellhound, half-unicorn puppy dudette had proven just how much I loved animals, and I was kind of thinking that it might be cool to specialize in supe creatures.

But that was far, far, far down the line.

For now, I was perfectly happy where I was, especially because the two of us finally had more time to spend together since Zay had finished school last fall.

“Oh, hi, little one,” Zay said as he reached down and scooped the tiny thing up, placing her on the bed beside us. “It’s okay.”

She rolled against our legs and just… stayed there, content to be close to us. I couldn’t help but snort at that. “She’s such an attention hog.”

“You love it.”

It was true. I’d always wanted a pet growing up, but of course, my parents never let my sister and me get one.

When I was old enough to have one myself, I couldn’t afford it.

Now, Zay had found me an absolutely adorable, weirdo pet that fit in perfectly with us.

And the best part was that she’d likely live as long as the two of us.

I gave her a few scratches, then pressed my forehead to Zay’s. “Ugh, we really do have to finish cooking. But can you hold me for another minute before we get up?”

He wrapped his arms tighter around me. “Of course, isa mezelie.”

The endearment made me smile, and I breathed him in for a long moment.

With my vampire senses, I really appreciated how much our scents mingled together. Our entire house—well, both of our homes—smelled like us, and it was my favorite scent in the world.

We sat there for more than a minute before I finally climbed off him and headed for the shower, a tiny puppy-unicorn trailing behind me.

Sure, I loved smelling like each other, but I didn’t need the rest of his supernatural family smelling sex on me. That was just… embarrassing and weird.

So we showered quickly, got dressed, and walked out to the kitchen, careful not to step on or trip over our tiny family member.

Zay’s whole family was all coming over tonight for a cookout. Most of them hadn’t met our tiny puppy-unicorn yet, so we thought it’d be fun to have them over and introduce her and help her socialize.

And it gave us an excuse to celebrate.

It had been a year since all that scary shit went down, and we were safe, together, and living life to the fullest.

Zaos and I had the rest of forever to be together, to grow together, to love each other.

But just because we had forever didn’t mean I wasn’t going to live every day like it was my last and show Zay exactly how much I loved him.

Because he deserved every happiness in the world… and I planned on giving that to him.

Zay threw his arm around my shoulders and kissed my temple. “I plan on giving you the world too, mezelie.”

I leaned into him. “As long as we’re together, I already have the whole world.”

He hummed and kissed my head again, giving me a squeeze. When he released me and started chopping up vegetables, he said, “That was the sweetest and cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard you say.”

I laughed and threw a pepper at him.

Somehow, he managed to move lightning quick and catch the damn thing in his mouth.

I gaped at him. “How the hell did you do that?”

He winked at me. “You’re not the only one with super speed, you know.”

I laughed and leaned in for a kiss. He happily obliged, and when we pulled apart, I whispered, “I’m still faster than you, though.”

With a chuckle, he pecked my lips, and we went back to our food prep, both of us happy and basking in each other’s affection.

This, right here, was exactly what life was all about.
