CHAPTER SEVEN

Blair

Then

I was at a party. It was my first real college party the fall of my freshman year in college. I came with my best friends, but we got separated somehow. I was looking for Carrie’s distinctive blonde curls or Harrison’s towering frame, but I didn’t see them.

Most of the people here were in fraternities and sororities.

I was in one with my friends, but I’d had to drop out.

It made me feel awkward and self-conscious.

Like I was an interloper into a world I wasn’t able to take part in.

My parents had always pretended as if they had money back in Indigo Falls, but they hadn’t.

Not really. They’d kept things up for appearances only.

Gam was better off than they were, but I didn’t think she should have to pay for my college tuition.

So, I’d gotten financial-based grants and work study.

Only Carrie knew. She was my best friend.

I loved Sadie and Melinda, too, but Carrie and I had always had a special bond.

She helped me hide that I shelved books in the library, even though she thought it was ridiculous that I was embarrassed by it.

After a few more minutes of not seeing any of them, I was ready to leave. I turned sharply to go back towards the front of the fraternity house, but I ran straight into someone. Cold liquid completely soaked my chest, and I instantly smelled the yeasty scent of beer.

“Shit,” a deep male voice said. “Um… sorry.”

Too shocked to say anything, I stared up into the dark brown eyes of a very handsome guy.

Very handsome. And he didn’t look like one of the typical college guys, either.

He was clearly older and wearing a nice white polo and khakis.

Most of the guys had on T-shirts, jean, and backwards ball caps.

The white shirt set off his nice tan. His thick brown hair was short and styled perfectly.

It looked like the kind of hair that would probably be wavy if he grew it out.

I found myself wanting to run my fingers through it and was shocked.

I didn’t usually respond to guys so quickly. Or this much at all.

My main experiences had been hasty couplings in the back seat of a car. I’d had two high school boyfriends, and I’d been left altogether unimpressed with sex. It was not like they said it was in romance novels.

At least it hadn’t been for me. But as I stared at him, I found myself feeling sure that it wouldn’t be like that with this guy. He was sexy as hell, and I was more attracted to him in the thirty seconds since I’d seen him than I’d been in two years with my main high school boyfriend.

This guy was built, too. I could see his biceps straining against the confines of his shirt, but not in a douchey ‘I ordered my shirts a couple of sizes too small to impress the ladies’ kind of way.

And his forearms were lean but ripped, veins showing over the impressive amount of muscle. A nice watch completed the look, and I felt myself growing hot all over. I swallowed hard.

I was… turned on. My eyes shot to his, and I caught him checking out my chest. I couldn’t blame him; the beer he’d spilled all over me had soaked my shirt. It made the cute white top completely see through. I looked like I belonged in a wet T-shirt contest.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yes,” I breathed. “It’s no big deal.”

His eyes widened a little, and I could tell he was surprised by my response. I wondered if he usually dated more high-maintenance girls. I wouldn’t be shocked by that. He was handsome enough to get those kind of women.

My assumptions were proven correct when a gorgeous blonde girl with fake breasts, a painted on dress, and perfect hair, makeup, and nails, walked up. “What’s going on?” She grabbed his arm possessively.

I wasn’t like her, and I knew I didn’t stand a chance with this guy if this was the kind of woman he was into.

I knew I was pretty in a girl-next-door kind of way.

I had long brown hair, brown eyes, and a nice body.

I’d never lacked in having guys interested in me, but it wasn’t the same way they were interested in flashier women.

I’d been told they were the kinds of girls you fuck, but I was the type you marry. I never really knew if that was a compliment or not.

Looking at this guy, I found myself wanting to be the kind of girl he wanted to fuck. Desperately.

I swallowed hard and looked away.

The beautiful blonde by his side tugged at his arm. “Scott. What are you doing? Just give her some money to get a new shirt and let’s get out of here.”

Scott, apparently that was his name, didn’t even glance at her, though. His eyes were focused on me. Very focused. His gaze was intense enough for me to believe he was having the same sort of instant reaction to me that I’d had to him.

Or he was just staring at my boobs. Thanks to his beer and how cold it was, not only was my shirt plastered to them, but my nipples were also very obvious. He couldn’t help but notice.

Apparently, other guys noticed, too.

“Hey, baby,” one guy said, sidling up to me, “want to come upstairs with me?”

“Back off,” Scott said. “She’s my date.” With that, he put his hand firmly on my elbow and led me out of the party.

I could hear the blonde screeching something at him from somewhere behind us, but I didn’t care. All I could think of was the electric zap I’d gotten as soon as he’d touched me. It sent a shiver down my spine.

“I wish I had a jacket to offer you,” he said, staring down at my nipples. He licked his lips, and I felt my mouth drop open. His gaze fell to my lips. With effort, he pulled his eyes back up to mine. “Can I take you home so you can change? I’d be happy to bring you right back here.”

I stared at him. “Um… yeah,” was my answer. Smooth, Blair. Real smooth. I was a talker. I’d never been tongue-tied. But I was now.

He nodded and reached out his hand for mine. As if it was the most natural thing in the world, my fingers laced with his.

We didn’t end up going back to the party.

After I’d washed the beer off me well enough that I thought I didn’t smell like a barmaid anymore, I put on a new shirt.

I decided not to think about how revealing the new low-cut top I’d chosen was.

I put on a very nice push up bra and adjusted myself until my breasts were displayed as prominently as they could be without being too obvious.

Then, I headed back down to the lobby of my dorm to meet him.

Part of me thought he probably wouldn’t still be there when I got back down there.

But he was.

As we walked out of my dorm, his hand naturally found mine again. “Would you like to go get a cup of coffee with me?”

“Instead of going back to the party?” I asked, surprised. “Isn’t that your fraternity?”

“Kind of,” he said as he stared down at me. “I’m a senior and don’t really care about any of that now.”

“Oh.” He wasn’t going to want to go out with me when he realized I was a freshman. I’d always been told I looked older than I actually was, so I was sure he’d thought I was around his age.

“Why? Do you want to go back?” He looked pained at the idea, and my heart started beating faster.

I shook my head. “No, it’s just…” I trailed off, and he looked at me curiously. I plunged ahead. “I’m a freshman,” I blurted.

He looked a little taken aback, but then he grinned. “I don’t care.”

“You don’t?”

“Not a bit.”

He steered me to a small café that didn’t seem to be a huge hot spot. It had a more relaxed vibe to it.

After we found a table, we sat and talked. We both had a couple of coffees and split a really good piece of coffee cake.

I got lost in our conversation that night. I didn’t even realize how long we’d been there until I saw the sky start to lighten.

We’d talked all night, and from that moment on Scott and I were practically inseparable.

***

“Oh,” I gasped as he thrust inside me. “Oh God.” I could hear the desperation in my voice. I was trying to be quiet, but when Scott and I went at it that was almost impossible.

My legs were wrapped around his waist, my skirt pushed up over my thighs, and his cock buried deep, deep inside me. I bucked into him, matching his pace, feeling his urgency as he took me against the library shelves while I was supposed to be working.

“Fuck,” he breathed into my ear as he thrust into me harder and harder, bringing me to a full, quaking, satisfying climax in yet another public place.

He buried his face in my neck and bit my shoulder to keep from yelling out as he released deep inside me.

I let my head fall back on the spines of the books, my eyes closed.

This had been happening constantly. One place after another, I’d found myself unable to resist him.

Almost as soon as we were within sight of each other, the need to rip each other’s clothes off and get down to business was overwhelming.

I never knew you could come so many times in one day. And Scott? My God. He was insatiable. We were at it day and night, and I found myself getting a little lost in him.

But I didn’t care.

He kissed the corner of my mouth, bit and sucked on my lower lip, and then pulled out. “I’m going to find a bathroom,” he said, giving me a wink.

I just nodded, feeling bereft as the heat of him left me.

I thought I heard footsteps approaching and hurriedly smoothed my skirt down and ran a hand over my hair.

I started shelving books like a madwoman as one the academic librarians walked by.

She gave me a quick glance before moving on, and I breathed out a sigh of relief.

I’d told Scott to meet me on the eighth floor because no one ever came up here.

Clearly, I’d been wrong. I had to be more careful; I couldn’t afford to lose this job.

As soon as I got off work, we went back to his townhouse off campus. We’d grabbed takeout on the way over and now sat eating across from each other.
