Chapter 7 #2

I rolled my dress up, lifting it around my waist before I straddled his lap. I hovered for a moment, watching him fumble with his pants then unfastening them. His hard, thick appendage filled his hand a second later.

I lowered my head, kissing his lips. When we parted, I looked between us before a toothy grin filled my features.

“For me?”

“All for you.” He bit into his bottom lip the moment I reached between us, gripping him.

I bit into my bottom lip, lowering myself onto him my way of teasing him while teasing myself.

“There you are.” He leaned forward, kissing me sloppily.

I paused at the base, feeling like any motion would tip me over.

“You have my full attention, Nic.”

“Mhmmm.” Every single time he was inside of me, I felt like my brain was trying to play catch up to my senses. My favorite part was his hands now digging into my waist as though he was trying to control my motion.

“Fuck, Nic.” He leaned forward. A kiss to my neck became a bite and I relished it, bucking against him with a rhythm only I knew.

“Slow down.” His mouth said it but his hands approved of my speed, working with it.

“I can—Hondo, please.”

He didn’t respond verbally. He rose to his feet with me in his arms. I was on the dresser next, trapped between him and the wall.

“I told you to slow down… shi—didn’t I?”

“Mhmm,” I hummed, pushing forward.

“Now watch me punish this, shatter this shit, and put it back together.” He pushed into my center, his hand finding my neck for a firm grip. I was in pure fucking ecstasy. Damn anything outside this room… All I needed was him. My husband.

My eyes moved to where my massive wedding ring rested.

I had really married Hondo Carter, and shockingly, I was alright with it.

I think. Then again I didn’t know what I was, as right before we got married, he killed a man.

Given he was protecting me, because said man was about to kill me, it didn’t make me look at him any different.

Well, considering I never looked at him as a saint, it was what it was.

My husband.

Hondo Dominic Carter was my husband and I was kind of settling into that fact.

It wasn’t a hard settlement at all, but more of a shift in myself with the thought of this man being mine.

The shift was easy though because something about this island made us bare.

It was just us, no security, house managers, or people to buffer moments, but a lot of things left unsaid normally said.

“Are you good over here?” His voice made me look up from my shades.

I laughed. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“’Cause you've been quiet all morning. You wanna talk about it?”

I shrugged, leaning forward so his massive frame could get into the lounge chair behind me.

That was something else I noticed. I liked having him close almost as much as he liked being close to me.

I didn’t sit in chairs alone because he was always pulling me into his lap.

I had every intention of fighting this, of being difficult, but ever since that first night at his house I was like a freaking doe.

I liked this, even though I didn’t like how it came together, and I was also a little leery because it came together so easily.

“Honestly, I’m just thinking.”

He chuckled. “You're always thinking, Nic.”

“True. It’s really pretty here, like really pretty.

” I looked out at the nearly clear blue water off the island.

Our honeymoon was in Bora Bora and boy was it everything.

From the moment we landed in the private jet to the scenic route, driving up to the home I just knew cost a lot.

We were literally on a private island, me, him, and a couple guards.

It was giving somewhere no one could find us.

“So I did good, huh?”

I laughed. “Besides the whole mail order bride fiasco, you’ve been doing great. Especially when you found a way to get my sister to our wedding when I was so convinced she wouldn’t make it.”

“Told you I had it.”

I smiled hard, eyes on the water. “That you did.”

“So what do I earn?” he asked.

I turned over and looked up at him. “What do you want?”

His hands rested on my body, eyes peering into mine. “Feels like I got everything I want right here, baby.”

I bit into my bottom lip, the heat from his words and stare melting me. “How do you know that for sure, Hondo?”

“Because when you want something for as long as I’ve wanted you, fulfillment ain’t that hard to attain. Now how about you tell me what you want.”

He had this uncanny way of putting me on the spot. This way of forcing more from me when I didn’t feel like I even had more to give.

“I wanna be happy with you. I don’t want momentary happiness or monetary Band-Aids. I know everything isn’t perfect and things happen sometimes, but I want what we just signed up for to really be forever.”

He smiled hard. “I got you, Nic.”

I laughed. “I have one more want.”

“And that is?” He raised a brow.

I hopped up, ran into the room, and went straight to the cabinet that held various board games and things to do. I stumbled across it last night and just knew I was gonna make him play one with me. I snatched up the Uno box and jetted back to the patio where he’d now opened the umbrella.

“Play Uno with me.” I put the cards on the nook.

His expression made it hard for me to remain serious or even look it. “Please.”

He was on his feet in seconds. “You never have to beg me for shit, Nic. Except don’t think I’m gonna take it easy on you either.”

“You don’t have to. I’m gonna beat you fair and square.”

He took a seat, his long legs flowing against the sides of the table while I sat across from him. He began shuffling the cards.

I couldn’t help the laughter that expelled from my lips. This moment was so unreal that I couldn’t hold it.

“What’s funny?” he asked, dealing the cards.

“The fact that I never saw this. Like my bingo card didn’t include being here like this with you. Married, talking about forever… shit, you.” I picked up my cards and began arranging them.

“Why not?” He set the remaining cards down, then turned one up, a red five.

“Because I had the biggest crush on you when we were younger. And you ignored my existence.” I tossed out green and blue fives.

He grinned, then threw three twos—blue, red, and green. “I didn’t ignore you, not by a long shot. I just gave you your space.”

I tossed out a green draw two. “You gave me my space.”

“Yeah. I knew you belonged to me, so why would I rush it? You needed your space and so did I. We were young as fuck.” He then threw out a yellow draw two.

I cut my eyes at him, then reluctantly drew my cards.

He then threw out a draw four and grinned at me. “But now time has passed and we’re right where we’re meant to be. The color is yellow, Nic.”

Now it was my turn to grin before I slapped down my own draw four. “The color is blue. How did you know it was time?”

Laughter spilled from his lips as he leaned forward and drew his four. “Because we had time to grow into who we were meant to be apart.”

I then tossed out two skips. The first one was blue and the second yellow. “And now?” I paused, gripping the next card I intended to throw down with a grin.

“We’ll grow together. It’s still your turn, Nic.”

My grin grew. “I know.” Then I tossed out that draw four. “I changed my mind, the color can be yellow.”

He laughed hard as hell before dropping all his cards onto the table and leaning forward. “I quit.”

My face dropped. “Why would you quit?”

“Because I’m a sore loser so I don’t lose.”

“But you were about to.”

He laughed. “Nah, baby, I wasn’t. I don’t know losing.” He was on his feet seconds later, leaning down to pick me up.

I didn’t resist. I set my cards down and let him pick me up. “I hope to God my kids don’t inherit that ego.”

We were lying on the hammock when he responded.

“I hope they do. How many you boutta give me?”

I stared down at him, loving his freckles almost as much as he hated them. “How many do you see us having?”

“Don’t ask me, Nic. I’ll be telling your ass five.”

“Yeah no. Three max.” I laughed, maneuvering to lay on top of him.

Laughter erupted through his chest. “You wouldn’t give me five kids?”

I lifted my head. “Would you actually want five kids?”

“With you, yeah. Ain’t like we don’t have the space. Big fucking family and it would keep Alora busy.”

I laughed at the thought of his mother in bliss with five grandchildren. “She’d curse you out and you know it.”

“Nah. That lady is serious about grandchildren. Don’t be shocked if when we get home she’s dropping hints.”

I giggled nervously. “That’s wild. We just got married. Are we really expected to produce a baby that soon?”

“For my mama, hell yeah, and that also depends. You on something?”

I shook my head. “Before this I wasn’t sexually active, so I stopped taking my pills a while ago.”

His expression was blank and he just looked at me. He was paused and unreadable. His hands stopped rubbing my thighs and he was just there. I think I broke him.

“Are you okay?” I asked after he was still for too long.

His trance broke and he nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Are you mad?”

“About what? We’re married, Nic.” He kissed my forehead.

“Because we haven’t talked about it. We’ve discussed pretty much everything else but children.”

He caressed my back, his hand moving up and down the length of my spine. “What is there to discuss? I’ll accept as many kids as you give me, even if we end up with about ten of them.”

“And that is where I’m drawing the line. Hopeful ass.”
