Chapter 8 #3
I come screaming into the furs. The controlled sounds I've given him before, the gasps bitten off between clenched teeth, the managed release of a woman who refuses to let her captor see the full scope of what he does to her: all of it is gone. This is a scream.
My body clenches around him in waves so violent I arch off the bed, my thighs lock, my fingers tear at the pelts until the stitching gives.
The pleasure rolls through me in crests that come faster than I can process, each one deeper than the last, and he stays between my legs through every wave, drawing it out, extending it, refusing to let me surface until I've given him everything it has.
He finishes inside me with a groan I feel vibrate through my ribs. One final thrust, held deep, his cock pulsing, and the heat of him filling me in this place, this act, this punishment, is the last piece of a structure I won't be able to reassemble once I've stopped shaking long enough to think.
He withdraws. I stay where I am. My face is in the furs, my fingers still tangled in the torn stitching, trembling with aftershocks that roll through me in diminishing waves.
The slickness coating my thighs is obscene, evidence of an arousal so thorough it survived the most invasive thing he's ever done to me. The soreness is already settling in, a deep, specific ache that sits in a place I'll feel every time I move tomorrow and the day after and the day after that.
I wait for the fury. It comes, but it arrives diluted, mixed with something I don't want to name. Last night I gave him my mouth and it was a choice. Tonight he took something I didn't offer and I rewarded him for it with the most devastating orgasm I've ever had.
The betrayal isn't his. It's mine. My body. My traitorous, responsive, thoroughly conditioned body that has learned to translate every act of dominance into arousal, every punishment into pleasure and every humiliation into the raw material of an orgasm that is ripped from it.
But that's the version I want to believe.
The version where I acted alone and my mind was a hostage.
The truth is sitting underneath it, quieter and worse: some part of me wanted this.
Not the pain. Not the humiliation. The breaking open.
The moment where every fortification I've built since Dover came down and there was nothing left but the raw, annihilated center of me, and that center wasn't empty.
It was full. It was so full it terrified me, and the terror is the part I can't file anywhere, because terror means it mattered, and if it mattered then the walls I'm rebuilding right now are being built over a fault line I just discovered runs all the way down.
He pulls me up from the bed. Turns me around.
I hear water in the basin behind me, the brief sounds of him cleaning himself, and then his palms are on my face, tilting it toward the firelight.
He studies me with the same expression he wore when he sat down and recited my intelligence-gathering like a military brief.
Reading me. Measuring what he's done and calculating what it cost me.
"You built well," he says. "The drainage channel was sound work. I've had wolves walk past that junction for years without noticing it."
I stare at him. My jaw is locked. My eyes are burning but I won’t cry, not for this man, not in this room, not after what he just did to me and what I did in return.
My braid has come loose and my hair hangs in my face and I'm shaking and I'm wet and he's leaking out of me and I am more exposed than I have ever been in my life.
"If you're going to build escape routes," he says, "build better ones. Because the next one I find will cost you more than tonight." He holds my gaze. "And you're good enough that there will be a next one."
He releases my face. Goes back to the basin.
Wets a fresh cloth and brings it to me. When he presses it between my legs to clean me with the same thoroughness he applies to everything he owns, the contrast between his hands now and his hands moments ago buckles a wall behind my ribs that I've been holding in place since Dover.
I refuse to buckle. I take the cloth from his hand and finish myself. I pull my undergarments up. I lower my tunic. I cross to the far side of the bed and lower myself onto it, and every movement sends the soreness radiating through me like a reminder written in a language I can't stop translating.
He follows me. His hands find the hem of my tunic and pull it over my head before I can stop him.
The undergarments go next. I don't fight it because fighting would mean acknowledging that the clothing mattered, and admitting I needed the armor would be worse than losing it.
He strips me the way he strips me every night, with the same proprietary efficiency, and the message is clear: the punishment changes nothing about what he expects when the lights go down.
He lies down beside me. His arm comes across my waist. Skin on skin. The same position as every night. The same weight, the same warmth, the same proprietary hold that says I belong to him whether I'm raging or shaking apart with pleasure or silent and shaking in the aftermath of both.
I stare at the wall. The stone is old, pocked with age, and in the firelight the shadows in its surface look like a map of somewhere I'll never reach. Last night he showed me something I wanted to see. Tonight he showed me something about myself I didn't want to know.
Both lessons are going to leave marks. The difference is that tonight's are in a place I'll never be able to show anyone, and that's exactly where he intended them to be.
