The Recap

KYIRIS

The view and ambiance was so good, I just knew the food would be even better.

I loved luxury without trying too hard, and the restaurant gave just that.

Removing my Chloe shades, I smoothed out the cream-colored halter jumpsuit I wore that gave sexy yet very classy.

There was a little peek of side boob but not too much to have people looking at me sideways in the establishment.

The only stares I’d get were from the patrons trying to figure out if a celebrity had walked through.

I paired the jumpsuit with gold accessories, a few gold bangles on one wrist with my Rolex that my mother had gifted me and a David Yurman stack on the other, giving every bit of ‘this a bad bitch, approach like you got some sense’.

Before I could make it to the hostess stand to confirm the party I was booked with, my phone vibrated in my purse.

Stepping aside to let the couple who I’d rode up on the elevator with go ahead of me, I pulled the phone out.

There was a message from Mehki and one from Amil.

Ignoring the one from Mehki and making a mental note to come back to it, I opened Amil’s text.

Milz: Drinks are on the table, and you’re still not here. You literally have no sense of time.

I laughed, tossing the phone back in my purse. Making my way up to the hostess station, I was greeted with a smile that looked like it was permanent on the woman’s face for her whole shift.

“Welcome to Peak, do you have a reservation with us today?”

“Hi, yes. Party name is Sullivan.”

Her smile widened. “Right this way.”

Somewhere in the background as we walked through the dining area, a DJ blended R&B into Afrobeats, making the atmosphere live but a subtle vibe at the same time.

The hostess stopped near the windows where my girls sat, hard to miss in their shades of nude.

Amil loved a theme, and the group text the night before requested that we wear nude to the brunch.

“Oh, look who’s here.” Danae was the first to call me out with a smile.

“What? I’m within the fifteen-minute grace period.” I laughed, walking around the table to hug everyone.

“It’s 1:17, Key,” Amil pointed out.

“I got here at 1:15 though,” I corrected, taking a seat next to Dai.

“Bitch, this ain’t no appointment.” Dai laughed. “Just admit that you have no sense of time when you’re on someone else’s time. We’ll still love you the same.”

She laid her head on my shoulder, and I shrugged her off.

“Get up off me.” I giggled. “Why we have two glasses each? Y’all tryna get lit in these people establishment?”

“I’m doing a lil’ bit of restauranteur analysis,” Amil spoke with her hand cupped over her mouth. “So, when I booked, I asked that they bring out two of their most popular drinks for us to try. The first one is the Strawberry Beesting, and the second one is Fancy Nancy.”

“Slicker than oil,” Ebone said with her glass raised. “I like that.”

“Ah big gal ting dat,” she replied in her fake Jamaican accent, making us crack up.

“Okay, Spice Official,” Danae mimicked.

“Y’all stupid.” I shook my head and took a sip of the Strawberry Beesting. It was the prettier of the two drinks. “Go head and tell them to bring this one out in a pitcher.”

“It’s good, ain’t it?” Thyri chimed in.

I nodded and clinked glasses with her.

“Now that we’re all gathered, whose business are we getting into first?” Ebone asked.

“Yours.” Dai giggled. “Tell them what you been up to, friend.” The sly smirk on her face and Ebone’s wide eyes said everything. Ebone had something interesting or juicy going on.

“Yeah, tell us, friend,” I egged on, leaning on the table.

Ebone looked everywhere but at us, and now I really wanted to know.

“Okay, so, someone I know…”

“Her,” Dai interrupted, snickering.

“Damn, you wanna tell them?”

“I do.” She giggled. “I really do.”

“Well, no,” Ebone said, “I got this.”

Dai gestured for her to continue, and I put my hand up to Dai’s mouth to keep her quiet.

“As I was saying,” Ebone started again, “someone I know might be doing a favor for someone she knows in order to help them out of a bind.”

“What kind of bind?” Thyri inquired beside her with a look of concern.

Ebone sighed. “We really don’t have to begin with me forreal. My friend really don’t have that much going on.”

“Ahhh, bitch,” Danae started, “is it anything we gon’ need to bond you out for?”

“Wellll…”

“Oh, fuck,” I let out.

“Okay, this guy I met kinda asked me to marry him, so he can get his citizenship papers,” she blurted out real fast.

I looked back at Dai then Ebone then back at Dai, hoping that one of them could make sense of what she’d just revealed.

“So, you kinda got proposed to by a nigga that’s here illegally?” Amil questioned, searching for the same clarity I was sure we all needed.

“And he offered her $150,000 too,” Dai added.

“Upped it to 200k this morning since I still haven’t given him an answer,” Ebone corrected, sipping both of her drinks at the same time.

“So, you said he got a brother, and I can find him where?” Amil asked casually, making us all laugh.

“I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout no brothers, sis. I barely know about the man. Met him during a showing. He was fine, so I paid close attention ‘cause y’all know I’m in the market for a husband. I gave him an extra tour, showing him all the hidden gems in the house, and we hit it off from there.”

“Where he from?” Thyri asked.

“Nigeria.”

“Mhm, according to them Housewives of Atlanta, they be having a coin.”

“Oh, yeah, the money ain’t the issue,” Ebone said. “It’s just the whole getting married thing. And y’all, the man not talkin’ ‘bout going down to City Hall. He wants it to look real. The man said a wedding and all.”

“And that’s my issue,” Dai pointed out. “That and the fact that she still hasn’t given an answer.”

“I don’t blame her. That’s a heavy ask,” I said.

“With a heavy check included,” Amil added.

“Would y’all do it?” Ebone asked, looking around the table.

“No,” Danae, Dai, and Thyri said in unison.

I glanced over at Amil with my lips pursed and pulled my hair behind my ear.

“Right,” she concluded without me having to say anything.

“So, y’all would?” Ebone pushed.

“Me, yes. But I’d have questions that would need to be answered before we locked in.”

“Same,” Amil agreed.

Ebone sat back in her seat and sipped slowly, like she was thinking hard.

Dai’s answer didn’t surprise me. I was sure she said no because she thought Pryce would walk through one of the walls and ask her if she’d lost her damn mind for even thinking about another nigga.

As far as Danae and Thyri, it just didn’t seem like they were that spontaneous.

The waiter walked over just before we could circle around to someone else’s tea.

“Good afternoon, my name is Pierre, and I’ll be your waiter for today. Have you beautiful ladies had a moment to look over the menu?”

“They have. I haven’t,” I answered for the table. “Do you have something that you’d recommend?”

He smiled politely. “If you’re in the mood for something from the sea, I’d recommend our Black Sea Bass. If you like a good steak, I’d point you to the Prime New York strip steak.”

“Mmm, I’ll do the sea bass. And the milk bread for the table please.” I handed him my menu, and he went down the line, taking the rest of the orders.

“Thank you, ladies. I’ll have your orders out shortly.”

He didn’t get a few feet away from the table before everyone decided that my tea was next up to be spilled.

“So…” Danae started, “Key, would you mind giving the class an update on you and Mr.LoveInTheClub?”

“Girlllll,” Amil dragged, sitting up in her seat.

“Bitch, you too messy,” I said, laughing.

“Shiidddd,” she replied.

“Okay, now, y’all gon’ have to stop talkin’ in code,” Thyri chimed in.

“Girl, I hate that shit so bad,” Danae agreed. “Aura and Enzo do that shit, and I be so tight. You know I’m nosey.”

Thyri laughed, shaking her head. “I just leave the room now. That’s a Sullivan thing.”

“My bad, y’all,” I said. “Here’s a quick update without having to give a full play by play. Now, keep in mind, these events happened this week, over the span of a few days, got it?”

Everyone nodded, locking in on me.

“Okay, we met at the diner, and I returned his phone, then I met him at one of his house flips where I played Key The Builder, that same night, he ate my pussy off the bone in the back of his car, then yesterday, me and Milz went to his friend’s spades tournament where I wore they ass out on the table and took home 3k. ”

“You’re missing one interesting thing, cousin,” Amil mentioned.

“Oh,” I downed the rest of my drink, “he’s in a polyamorous relationship.”

“Bitch, you was supposed to lead with that,” Ebone stated with her lips turned up.

“I’m tryna figure out how yo’ pussy get in that man mouth,” Danae chimed in, smirking.

“In the back of his car,” Dai added.

“Poly?” Thyri questioned with a cross of confusion and shock written on her face.

I chuckled. “Listen, his lifestyle choices ain’t my story to tell. I’m just catching y’all up. Oh, and I put my pussy in his mouth only after he requested that I make the request.”

“Hold on,” Ebone snapped her fingers, “rewind back to the part about him being poly. When you find that out?”

“He told me.”

There was a brief interruption when our waiter returned with our food. Placing all of our plates in front of us, he confirmed we were good before walking off again. Instinctively, we all grabbed hands, and Amil said a quick prayer over the food before we dug in.

“So, it doesn’t bother you that he’s poly?” Thyri questioned, with her fork up to her mouth. “Do you know how many women?”

“Two,” Amil answered for me. “Karima and Julissa. Met them yesterday.”

“You ain’t no better than her,” I said to Amil, pointing at Dai. “And no, Thyri. It doesn’t bother me. You know I, too, live a poly lifestyle. The only difference is, I haven’t given anyone the okay to claim me.”
