Chapter 34 #2

“Oh, you’re so wet for me, baby.”

I let out a moan as he ran his thumb along my clit. My head fell to the grass. I was so fucked. “I’m not your baby,” I said with a whimper when I really should have told him to stop.

And it only took two circles of his thumb to have me falling apart completely on his hand. My toes curled, and a strong orgasm stroked through my entire body.

I moaned loudly and bit my lower lip into my mouth.

Oh fuck. Oh my holy fuck. He was…, and I was… oh fuck. My head shot up so fast when my brain caught up to what was happening and that it needed to stop. The movement broke his hold on my hands.

“Stop. Stop,” I groaned, my blood boiling. How dare he fucking touch me? I wasn’t one of his whores. “Please stop, Severin.”

His manicured eyebrows pinched together, and his eyes turned into liquid confusion, but he pulled his hand from my panties and sat back on his heels, lifting his weight from my torso.

I wiggled out from beneath him like a mouse escaping a cage and stood quickly, pulling my dress down in the process.

I didn’t hate what he’d done. I hated that I liked it and wanted it.

“Why the fuck are you even here, Severin?” I spat out.

“I had such a nice life before you came. I was normal. I was learning to be…” I waved my hand, not knowing how to say it.

“…a girl, I guess. I was in a sorority. I was getting straight As, learning to have a personality beyond scowls, flirting with boys, and having a life. And then you came and ruined everything.”

“I ruined everything, huh?” He stood up, towering over me now that I was barefoot in the grass. “You want to get date-raped by politicians’ sons? Do you, Sienna?” He pulled out my fake name like a taunt. “Because that’s what would have happened to you if I hadn’t intervened.”

“I know.” My breasts heaved with my tight, quick breaths.

Severin stalked toward me and pushed me hard into an oak tree. “He drugged you.”

“I know.”

“I caught him with his hands all over you, your pants down, and his dick out.”

“I know,” I whimpered and pinched my eyes shut. “I know. I remember.”

Severin clutched my chin tightly, forcing my head up, but my eyes were still closed tight. Despite it, a tear leaked down my face. “Look at me, Sornyachok.”

My eyes shot open, and my nostrils flared. Little weed? Little fucking weed?

I was going to kill him for that nickname. And he knew it. His expression was self-satisfied, basking in my hatred.

“Ah, there she is. There’s that resting murder face.”

I shook my head and forced his hands off of me. “Why are you here? What are we doing here?”

He said nothing.

“Why the hell have you started calling me little weed?”

“Because you are one,” he snarled, crowding me again, one hand on the tree beside my head, the other lacing into my hair, forcing my gaze up to meet his. “How often did you think about me during the two years I was gone?”

My brow furrowed. What a strange question. How did I even respond to that?

He leaned in, his lips at my ear. “I thought about you every single day. Nearly every moment of every day. You are a weed who has infiltrated my mind, and I can’t get rid of you.”

He kissed the base of my ear, and I shuddered. Then he kissed along my jaw.

What the fuck was happening? Goose flesh rose on my skin, and my heart thudded hard against my ribs.

My body was rigid and stone-like. I had been cursed by Medusa, unable to comprehend or move.

My heart thudded again as he kissed along my jawline.

Thud.

Kiss.

Thud.

Kiss.

What the fuck?

The last kiss was at the corner of my lips, and then he hovered over them. “I can’t get rid of you.”

Thud. Breath. Touch.

Severin touched his lips softly to mine. Gently, like a whisper into the raging sea.

And what did I do? I freaked the fuck out. I froze like a mannequin, lifeless and passionless.

Nothing. I gave him absolutely fucking nothing because what the actual fuck was happening?

Severin Volkov, my best friend, my closest confidant, my heart, my soul, was kissing me and I didn’t know what to do.

I’d never been kissed. I’d never researched it or practiced on pillows, stuffed bears, or whatever normal people did. I didn’t know what to do.

But what did I do when I didn’t know how to do something?

I fucking froze.

I was ruining this. So horribly ruining this.

I was awful, and he’d never, ever want to kiss me again.

Shit.

Shit.

Shit.

Get yourself together, Xeniya.

But I didn’t, and he pulled away. I had no idea what he saw in my eyes, but he took a step back as if slapped, and then another, and I still didn’t say a word.

Shit. Shit.

What did I do?

He shook his head. “And you’ll never want me back, will you?”

What?

The question knocked every thought from my head.

What?

I trembled.

What did he just say? But before I could ask or do anything, he turned on his heel and walked away, disappearing into the night.

Moments or hours later, I heard the telltale roar of his motorcycle engine, confirming his full retreat.

How was his bike even so near? Or was I imagining the sound?

I held my hand out to the phantom body now gone. “Wait,” I croaked. “Come back.”

But I was far, far too late.

“Severin, wait…”

I blinked several times and slid down the tree, my ass hitting the roots. I pulled my knees to my chest and my cell phone out of my bra.

I opened to our message thread and wrote two simple words:

Come back.

Then I waited and waited for him to read it and respond, watching for the text bubble to appear. But it didn’t, and he didn’t text. And he didn’t come back. He simply read it.

Ten minutes later, I wrote again:

Please, Sev.

But nothing. He left me on read.
