6. Chapter 6
Chapter six
Amelie lay in the bed, chest heaving as she came down from what was quite possibly the most mind-blowing orgasm she’d had in quite some time.
“That was… wow.” Amelie shook her head in disbelief as Regina crawled back up the bed, pressed a singular kiss to the blonde’s lips, and lay down next to her.
“I’ll take that as positive feedback.” Regina chuckled, turning to her side and resting her head on her hand.
“Yeah.” Amelie huffed a laugh. “I’d categorize that as positive, for sure.”
Turning to face the divination witch, Amelie arranged her skirts back down around her until she was covered again.
Regina’s face was not that of someone who was pleasantly surprised by a new connection, but rather it was the satisfied smile of a job well done.
Looking into Regina’s blank eyes for a moment, Amelie remembered something that the other witch had said when they were sitting on the floor.
I just didn’t think that this was how it would all start.
Then it hit her.
“You knew this was going to happen.” Amelie couldn’t help the smile that crept onto her face as she sat up, staring down at the other woman.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Regina replied, hiding her mouth with her hand.
“You did!” Amelie gasped, flopping back down onto the mattress, burying her face in the pillow. “That’s what you meant by you’ve been waiting for me.”
Turning her head to look at Regina, Amelie scoffed, her grin now fully spread across her cheeks. “Do you often have visions of such a sexual nature?”
To that, Regina placed her hand on her chest and gasped in faux offense. “Excuse me, I did not have a vision of what just happened. Just…” Regina moved her hand in small circles away from her body. “The end result.”
“The end result?” Amelie scoffed, shaking her head. “So us laying here in bed?”
However, when Regina shook her head, her grin returning, Amelie sat straight up, crossing her legs underneath her. “There’s more?”
“Of course there’s more.” Regina laughed, remaining in her reclined position.
“But… you’re not going to tell me, are you?” Amelie pouted.
“No.” Regina pushed herself up into a sitting position and took Amelie’s hands in her own, setting them in her lap. “But that’s the fun part; you get to enjoy the ride.”
Amelie paused for a moment, considering Regina’s words, and then studied the other woman’s face. She was smiling, but her eyes were tired and hair disheveled.
“That must be a lot to keep to yourself. Knowing what’s going to happen.” Amelie spoke before her brain could catch up. For a moment, Regina seemed surprised by Amelie’s response, but then her smile returned, and she tilted her head, bringing Amelie’s hand up to her lips and kissing it.
“I think you’re the first person who hasn’t tried to get more information out of me once they know I’ve had a vision about them.”
Amelie’s brow furrowed as she watched Regina’s expression soften.
“I don’t imagine it would do me a lot of good, now would it?” Amelie mused with a shrug. “Either I already know what’s coming and accidentally spoil it for myself, or I try so hard to prevent it from happening that I accidentally fulfill the prophecy myself.”
Amelie watched Regina’s eyebrows go up.
“I had an aunt who had a post as a divination witch for a couple of years.” Amelie shrugged. “I know that the future is changeable, but it’s really not your job to warn everyone about every little thing, is it?”
Tilting her head and glancing to the side of the room where an astrolabe sat, leaning up against the wall.
“I’ve always had a hard time sitting back and accepting things when I knew there was something I could do to change them, but that’s basically your entire position, isn’t it?
Documenting the prophecies of the future and watching them come to pass? ”
Regina shrugged. “Pretty much. There are certain cases and instances where I am permitted to share my visions, but for the most part, yes. I watch, I wait, and experience things as they come to pass with everyone else.”
Amelie thought back to the state she had found Regina in when she got to her room. “That’s what was happening when I showed up, isn’t it? A vision?”
Regina nodded, a crease appearing between her brows as she thought back.
“It was a pretty heavy one. Most of my visions don’t take that much out of me, but this one was directly associated with the magic of the town, so when it arrived, it really wore me out.”
“The magic of the town?” Amelie asked. “Is everything alright?”
Regina sighed and pulled a smile tight. “I can’t really say. But this is definitely one of those visions that I might need to get special permission from the Council of Seers to intervene with.”
“That bad, huh?” Amelie squeezed Regina’s hand, bringing her back into the moment.
“I’m afraid so.” Regina smiled, running a hand through Amelie’s hair. “But that’s something for me to worry about, not you. So, thank you for everything you did today.”
“Of course.” Amelie nodded, already thinking about what sorts of things she could make for dinner to help Regina bounce back from the vision when there was a knock at the door.
“Regina?” Hestia opened the bedroom door very shortly after she finished knocking, much to Amelie’s horror. “Salem found me, and she seemed… oh, Amelie?”
Opening her mouth to respond, Amelie sat there in silence as she realized she had nothing prepared to say.
She knew that both Hestia and Regina had flirted with her in the kitchen the night before, but finding your girlfriend in bed with another woman was not exactly how Amelie would have wanted Hestia to find out.
It was too late now, however, as despite the pair of them being clothed, the state of their hair and the sheets below them were both pretty damning evidence.
So instead of doing anything, Amelie just waited; she watched as Hestia looked from Regina to her and back again, putting the pieces together.
Then, following the redhead’s gaze to the corner of the room, Amelie felt herself turn beet red as she saw her panties lying strewn on the floor.
Ready to start apologizing, Amelie took a deep breath as Hestia turned her attention back to the pair of them, prepared for the worst, when she noticed the grin on Hestia’s face.
“Regina.” Hestia light-heartedly scolded. “In the middle of the day? Why anybody could have walked in.”
The light tittering of Regina’s laugh had Amelie snapping her gaze back to the divination witch at breakneck speed.
Amelie sat on the bed, staring open-mouthed at the brunette. Quickly sensing Amelie’s shock, Regina adjusted, leaning back on her hands.
“Sorry, I should have warned you that Hestia was probably going to show up at some point.”
“I…” Amelie stuttered, looking over at Hestia, who was standing at the door, hiding a smile behind her hand. “I’m sorry, Hestia.” She finally decided upon. “I know you two are involved and…”
“Oh, it’s fine.” Hestia shook her head, padding over to the bed and settling on the edge of the mattress. “Like I told you before, Regina and I are non-monogamous."
“Right, but… there’s a difference between flirting and… well, you know… right?” Amelie desperately wanted to reply with something a bit more well-thought-out, but everything had happened in such quick succession, her brain was still trying to catch up.
“Hestia and I are together,” Regina piped up. “But not ‘just’ with one another.”
“Oh.” Amelie shook her head, embarrassment beginning to clear. “So…”
Amelie gestured between herself and Regina.
“Not a problem.” Hestia laughed before her expression turned sultry. “Just let me know if you want me there next time, and I will make that happen.”
Amelie felt a flush climbing up her neck and onto her face as she covered her eyes with her hands. She had no idea what her expression looked like right now, but if the scenarios playing in her mind were any indication… she could guess.
“Alright.” Regina patted Amelie’s knee. “Let’s leave poor Amelie alone for a minute; otherwise, she might combust. What were you saying when you came in earlier, Hestia?”
Amelie peeked through her fingers as she felt the bed move. Hestia pulled her legs up underneath her, her dress falling effortlessly over her lap.
“Right.” Hestia pulled her long, red hair over her shoulder. “Salem found me and seemed distressed. Were you having another vision?”
Then, as though she had been summoned by her very name, Salem jumped up onto the bed, pausing to allow Hestia to run her fingers through the black cat’s fur before allowing her to continue across the sheets, settling into Regina’s lap.
Reaching across the bed, Hestia scratched Salem behind the ears, and as Amelie watched, she felt her cheeks heating up again as she found her gaze drawn once again to the two nicely manicured, short nails on Hestia’s right hand.
Luckily, she wasn’t given the opportunity to spiral as Regina spoke up.
“Yes. It was a big one too; Amelie actually walked in on me as it was happening.”
Pursing her lips, Regina turned back toward Amelie. “How did you know to come in at that moment? Or was it a coincidence?”
Embarrassing spiral forgotten, Amelie furrowed her brows.
“It was strange. Truffle seemed distressed, so I…” Pausing for a moment, Amelie realized that the pair likely had no idea exactly how the cathedral worked, not that she really did either, but…
“After I moved in, I sort of became… connected to the building, like you were saying with the ley lines, Hestia.” Amelie closed her eyes and extended the magic tendrils.
“It’s like… I can feel everything and everyone on the property.
If I focus, I can even differentiate who’s who and what they’re doing to a certain extent. ”
Opening her eyes and looking back at the other two witches, Amelie shrugged.
“Your energy surged just as I reached out in a way I’d never felt before. So I came running.”
“What does it normally feel like?” Regina hummed in question.
