Chapter 10 – Alana
Chapter

ALANA
Iturn on the shower, letting the hot water run over my face as I step beneath it.
I flex my neck and it pinches slightly. I’d started daily yoga sessions some time ago, but I’ve been neglecting them since Lucia moved in with us.
I’ll have to get back into some sort of routine with it, if only to keep up with my sex-crazed machine of a husband.
“Mind if I join you, princesa?” Speak of the devil. His low growl comes from behind me.
I spin to face him and beckon him closer. That’s one thing I definitely haven’t been neglecting, the marathon sex sessions with my sexy as hell husband. I still can’t get enough of him.
He steps under the water with me and slips his hands around my hips and onto my ass, pressing me against his body. “You look so fucking sexy when you’re wet,” he whispers against my neck.
“Well, I’m always wet around you,” I giggle.
He bites down lightly against my skin and I squeak with happiness, feeling a rush of warmth between my thighs. “I was only coming in here for a shower. You’re fucking insatiable.”
“Me?” I feign my astonishment. “You’re the one with your hands on my ass. And this is not the only shower in this huge house. Plus let me remind you, you were also the man who couldn’t wait to get me naked as soon as we got home last night.”
“Well, I had to sit in a restaurant and keep my hands to myself all night because our teenage runaway was with us. It’s very unfair of you to put me in such a difficult situation.”
“What kind of situation is that? You mean expecting you to behave like a civilized gentleman and not feel me up in the middle of a restaurant in front of our seventeen-year-old houseguest? Oh, yes, that is very unfair. I see it now.” I flutter my eyelashes, adoring teasing him.
“Yes. Unfair when you wear those sexy fucking panties and I have to sit with a hard on all night.”
“You’re a devil,” I purr against his ear.
“You’d better believe it.” Quickly, he spins me around so I’m facing the tiled wall before pushing me flat against it. He nudges my ankles apart. “I want inside you, Alana. Now.”
So bossy. “But you’re going to be late for work.”.
He presses his body against mine, pinning me to the wall with just the right amount of delicious pressure.
Then he takes my hands and holds them above my head, his warm mouth pressed against my ear.
“I know that, but work can wait. I need to fuck you.” Not a second later, he pushes inside me.
“Because I can’t keep out of your sweet little cono. ”
“Alex,” I whimper while he pounds into me, nailing me to the tiles. My pussy squeezes around him, as needy for him as he is for me.
“Come on my cock. Do you feel how hard you make me? Can you feel how much my cock loves your tight wet pussy?”
His filthy mouth never fails to turn me into a trembling mess, and I’m shaking now, filled with nothing but him and the need to come.
“Fuck, Alana!” He grunts as he increases his pace.
I push my ass back against him, trying to take as much of him as I can. When he sucks on the tender skin of my neck, my orgasm tears through me with violent shudders, and I’m still shaking when he finds his own release a moment later.
He pulls out of me and gives me a sharp slap on the ass. “That’s for making me late.”
Me making him late? I twist around, find him grinning at me. Before I can protest, I’m in his arms, and he’s kissing me like I’m the air he needs to breathe.
“And what was the kiss for?” I pant out as soon as he lets me up.
“That was for making me late, too.” I vow to make him late more often.
“We have to give Lucia her present before you go,” I remind him.
“You give it to her,” he says, then takes the shampoo from the shelf and squeezes some into his hands.
“But you chose it for her. You paid for it. You should at least be there.”
“We both paid for it, Alana. It’s our money.”
A smile spreads across my face as he lathers the soap into his thick, dark hair.
I love that he genuinely means that—not that I want his money.
I also know the real reason he doesn’t want to be there when we present Lucia with her gift.
He doesn’t want her to be grateful to him.
I can already tell she’s working her magic on him and he’s starting to care about her almost as much as I am.
“She’ll only thank you later, anyway.”
He scowls at me. “I don’t have time this morning. Just tell her it’s from you. She won’t care. She’ll just be happy to have a car.”
I consider pressing the point further, but there’s no use when his mind is made up. “Okay. Will you be home for dinner tonight?”
“No.” He wipes the water from his face. “I have meetings all day and evening. I’ll have something at the hotel.”
I try to hide my disappointment about that, but obviously fail, because he takes hold of my chin and tilts my face up to his. “I have some work stuff going on. I hope it’s going to be resolved very soon. Know that I would rather be here eating dinner with you than at my hotel.”
I know I’m being silly. He’s the head of the Spanish Mafia and also has a business empire to run. He has a lot on his plate. I’m fortunate he’s been able to spend as much time as he has been with me these past few weeks, and I know it’s been hard for him to carve out that time. “I believe you.”
He smirks, wicked and devilish and gives me an all too brief kiss. “In fact, I’d rather just be eating you.”
So smooth. “Te quiero,” I say, wrapping my arms around his neck and wanting to hold onto this, and to him, for just a moment longer.
“I love you too, princesa.”
An hour later, Lucia and I are sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for her check up.
Hugo and Hank are sitting opposite us. Alejandro insisted that they accompany us everywhere for the time being.
While I enjoy Hugo’s company, Hank’s is less pleasant.
I don’t think he’s ever once smiled at me during the whole time I’ve known him.
But Alejandro tells me he’s the best at what he does, and I suppose that’s more important.
I’ve no idea how much of a threat might exist in a room full of pregnant women, but what do I know?
Besides, it’s almost worth it to see how uncomfortable Hank looks here.
“Thank you again for my car, Alana,” Lucia says as she sits beside me. “I can’t believe you guys bought me a freaking car.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart. Alejandro said every girl should get a car for her sixteenth birthday, and as we didn’t know you then, a car for your seventeenth is the next best thing.”
“Well, I love it. I can’t wait to take it for a spin. You’ll come driving with me later, won’t you, Hugo?” she asks.
“I’m afraid I can’t, got to take the boss lady to work this afternoon,” he replies, a kind smile on his face.
“I’m sure Jax said he’d be calling round later. Alejandro told me he loves cars and used to be a drag racer. Maybe he could take you for a quick drive?” I suggest.
She seems satisfied with that response and sits back in her seat, grinning.
Lucia was beside herself this morning when I presented her with the new Mercedes that Alejandro chose for her.
She refused it at first, telling me that it was too much, but I reminded her that Alejandro has more money than he could spend in twenty lifetimes and that she deserves something nice after her years of struggle.
Plus, it will be so much easier for her when the baby arrives if she has a car.
After a brief pause, she gratefully accepted, giving me a huge hug and promising me that she would cherish it forever.
“Miss Montoya,” the nurse calls and Lucia blinks at me, confused.
“Alejandro had our name put on your records for now, I hope you don’t mind. He didn’t want to bring any attention to who you really are,” I tell her quietly.
Her face lights up in a smile. “That makes sense. Actually, I kind of like how it sounds. Will you come in with me Alana?”
“Of course,” I tell her, honored she asked me, and excited to see her baby on the screen.
I can’t stop thinking about my conversation with Alejandro a couple of weeks ago, where we both agreed we wanted kids.
I got my period a few days ago, so it hasn’t happened yet, but hopefully one day soon I’ll be the one waiting for my check-up
“We’ll wait right here,” Hugo assures me before we walk into the doctor’s office.
Dr. Kelly has finished checking Lucia and the baby over and confirmed everything is as it should be.
We saw her baby on the screen and Lucia got all teary and squeezed my hand, and that made me tear up too.
It was really quite magical being here for it all.
A real privilege to be part of this time in her life.
“It’s never too early to think about contraception for the future, Lucia,” the doctor says. “There are plenty of options. I’ll give you some information on them, and you can decide when you’re ready.”
Lucia shudders. “I’m not sure that will be an issue for a while, doc. Maybe not ever. And if it does come up, Alana can help me decide. What contraception do you use?” She looks to me.
“What? Oh, I don’t use any. I never have.”
Dr. Kelly shoots me a glance that I don’t fully understand. I don’t get a judgmental vibe from her at all, but there was definitely something there. Shock, perhaps? “My husband and I would like a baby,” I tell her.
“Oh, I see,” Dr. Kelly smiles. “Have you been trying long?”
While we weren’t exactly trying, we’ve also never used protection. “Uh, a few months. And we’re not really trying, just more not, not trying, if you know what I mean?”
She nods. “Well, when you do get serious about starting a family, you need to make sure you’re having sex in your ovulation window. You can work it out roughly, but there are tests to take to make sure you’re trying on the right days.”
“It’s not something I’ve ever really thought about, to be honest.”
“Well, that might be why you’ve never fallen pregnant yet. Unless you’re having sex every single day, you might be missing your window.”
Lucia bursts out laughing at this point, and despite being a grown woman talking to a medical professional, I blush to the roots of my hair. Dr. Kelly’s eyes dart between the two of us with a look of bewilderment on her face.
Lucia holds up her hands in defense. “Sorry, Doc. All I know is that Alana and Alejandro are doing it way more than once a day.”
“Lucia!” I’m mortified. “You can’t say that.”
She shrugs. “What’s the big deal? You’re in love and you can’t keep your hands off each other. It’s cute. Plus we’re in a doctor’s office, she knows all about how babies are made.”
Dr. Kelly gives her a stern look. “Lucia, you and I are all done. Would you mind waiting outside for a few minutes please?”
Lucia stands up with a dramatic roll of her eyes, then she gives me a cheeky wink as she heads out of the door.
“I’m sorry if I embarrassed you, Mrs. Montoya,” Dr. Kelly says. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have started that discussion until we were alone.”
I shake my head, absolutely embarrassed, but by Lucia, not her. “It’s fine. I don’t know why she would say that. It’s not like we do anything in front of her.”
We’re very discreet—aren’t we?
She laughs softly. “I’m sure you don’t. But if it’s true that you are having sex every day and not using contraception, but you haven’t fallen pregnant yet, it might be worth us running some basic tests. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about.”
My embarrassment quickly turns to panic.
Tests are never good, even basic ones. Tests are what revealed my wonderful grandmother had cancer—the horrible disease that took her from me.
And as soon as a doctor tells you not to worry, it has the absolute opposite effect. I work to keep my voice calm. “Why?”
“Like I say, it could be nothing,” she replies, her tone gentle and aiming for ‘reassuring,’ but not reassuring me at all.
“Or it could be that maybe you’re not ovulating regularly?
You have a window of about six days per month where you’re fertile, so if you’re having sex around those times and haven’t fallen pregnant yet, it could be worth checking out, just to get a head start on things. ”
“I didn’t realize there could be a problem.”
I don’t have sisters, and my mother and I don’t have the kind of relationship where we talk about sex and pregnancies.
Or at all, really. This is all coming as a bit of a shock to me.
Alejandro and I have such an amazing sex life, I’d always assumed that we’d get pregnant whenever we wanted to.
Now I’m starting to feel like a fool for taking that for granted.
She smiles, and I assume it’s meant to comfort, but it does the opposite. “There may not be. Maybe you’re just not having sex around those fertile dates?”
My stomach rolls. We absolutely are. We have sex twice a day, at least, except for two nights last month when he was away on business
“Is everything okay?” Her soothing voice pulls me from my thoughts.
“What? Yes, I…I think we are having sex in that window. So,” I chew on my lip, worried now.
“I didn’t mean to upset you, but I do think it would be worth us running a few tests. My next patient cancelled so we can make a start now if you like? And we could also test your husband, too. There could be an issue with his motility, or—”
“Let’s start with me, and take it from there,” I say, not sure how Alejandro would respond to the idea of fertility tests.
I’m not sure how I feel about them myself.
I’m an educated woman, a proud feminist, yet somehow I can’t help feeling somehow less than…
It’s ridiculous, I know. A woman’s worth is not in her ability to get pregnant, nor is a man’s in the strength of his sperm
“Like I said, it could be nothing. We’d usually advise couples to try for twelve months before having tests, but I’m a fertility specialist and Mr. Montoya’s insurance covers everything I offer, so there’s no harm in getting ahead of the curve, is there? You’re here anyway.”
“No, I suppose not,” I say, forcing a smile.
I sit in her office for another half hour, answering questions and providing blood and urine samples. I never even considered that I wouldn’t be able to fall pregnant when I want to. We’re both young, healthy and happy, and I assumed there would be no problems at all in that department.
But now I’m faced with the possibility that there might be a medical reason for why I haven’t gotten pregnant yet. I kind of wish I hadn’t accompanied Lucia to her doctor’s appointment now. Perhaps ignorance is bliss.
