Chapter 91

Arden, Lexus, and the ?ren looked at each other with grave looks on their faces, and I could tell that they had known about the other Elf, especially since I had already told them what had happened with me and the mark on my wrist.

Caspian frowned and looked at the group of Elves that were in the room with us. "Do you know why there is an Elf acting as a royal advisor for my father?" he asked and cocked his head to the side. "Or is he some sort of Rogue Elf that doesn't act in the best interest as everyone else involved?"

"That is something that we are not sure about," Arden said, answering truthfully. "We have a few theories about him, but we are not sure," he said. "We knew about him, however, because Lexus has had crossed paths with him before, even though he wouldn't stay in the same room as him."

"So you all have known for a while that there is an Elf there.

Why haven't you done anything yet to remove him?

" Caspian asked, and I could tell that he was getting frustrated with the lack of answer from them, something that I had felt time and time again.

"He's going to get everyone killed if he isn't taken care of, especially my father and brother. "

"Your brother is fine and safe," I said before anyone else could say anything, "and so is your sister.

There are reasons as to why they hadn't been able to remove the Elf from where he is at, especially with all the treaties that have been sent out that will lead to their death if they are ever caught and persecuted for doing such. "

"Then why isn't Lexus dead?" Caspian asked and gestured to his guard and friend. "I mean, he is in an Elf. He has lived in the palace for years and years without anyone knowing that he is an Elf, a-"

"And that is why he is still alive today," I said, interrupting him.

I sighed and rubbed the bridge of my nose when a headache appeared out of nowhere.

"Elves know when other elves are in the same area as one another just as much as they know their product.

If an Elf wants to stay hidden from other Elves, then they will hide themselves amongst Humans, making sure that their ears are like ours and whatnot.

If two Elves are with each other and neither of them wants their cover to be blown, then they will not say a word and pretend to be human with the other one.

Sometimes they might meet in secret to discuss things while other times they will not say a word. "

"How do you know all of that?" Caspian asked and furrowed his brows, growing impressed and confused. "Is it because of your tribe, or is that something that you had to learn?"

"It's something that I had to learn," I said and shrugged.

"I've started learning everything at a young age because my Tribe is so respected.

They know the customs and everything from each species, and they start learning at a young age.

Speaking of which," I turned to look at Arden and Jonah.

"Ilas said it's time that my family learns everything about what I know," I said.

"I'm going to start training them somewhere safe. "

"Abso-"

"They need to know about this too," I said, interrupting Jonah with a shake of my head.

"I know I have a lot on my plate now, but there is a chance that the future can change in ways that are needed, and I need to make sure that the members of my tribe know about their history.

There is a chance that they and I can get quizzed if other tribe members come here.

They're feeling the moon's pull too, and I know that they can't go outside yet. "

"What does your mother have to say to this?" Jonah said and folded his arms across his chest. He scowled and narrowed his eyes in warning. "Remember, she was against it as soon as your father died because of his role in the Tribe and b-"

"And as I said before, even though my memory is still hazy about that time, it was as if someone had controlled someone else.

It shouldn't have happened, and I think it is time for me to learn the truth about my father's death and everything else that had been hidden from me," I said, interrupting him.

"Also, Mama doesn't have a choice in this, and she knows that.

She needs us to be careful, which we are trying to be but is hard because of our position. "

"Some of the younger ones aren't even a par-"

"It doesn't matter," I said and shook my head. "I consider them my brothers and sisters, and that is why they are able to learn this. Sometimes it isn't about blood but prayer, and I have prayed to the Great to let them be a part of my tribe, which has happened."

"And you did that because..?" He raised an eyebrow in question and waited for me to fill in the blanks.

I shrugged while my cheeks turned red, and I couldn't help but look down, not able to meet their gazes any longer.

"It was the best way to make sure that they would be protected if something bad happened to me," I said.

"The only person that I hadn't prayed for to be counted as a tribe member is Mama, but I hadn't had the urge to because I think that she is considered a tribe member through the marriage she had with my father. "

"And have they all been accepted to the Tribe?" Jonah asked, and I nodded in confirmation. "How do you know?"

"Because I can feel it," I said and tucked my head closer to my chest. "I can feel that they have been accepted by my tribe as full fledged members, especially since I am the one that had said the prayers.

The Great answered that prayer, and one of the Tribe Moons seemed to affect some of them in the way it affects me, even though it doesn't affect them that much anymore. "

"Why not?"

"I had prayed for it to have no effect on them until everything with the kingdom had been taken care of, and that prayer had been granted, even though I still feel its pull.

" I sighed and moved a hand through my hair and across my face.

"It's getting harder to ignore the pull," I admitted.

"I think I am of age to find out what the pull means, but I can't do that while I am worried about everything and everyone else.

I know that Griffith is going to be feeling it sooner as well, but he can't go outside without me, especially since there is more trouble happening with our family. "

"Because of you being a dragon rider?" Caspian asked, and I nodded in confirmation. "How can I help?" he asked. "I want to help you if possible because I know that you can't do this alone."

"But I am not doing this alone," I said and furrowed my brows while I cocked my head to the side. I gestured to the other men that were in the room with us. "I have them, but I also have so many more people that are keeping an eye on me."

"And she has someone in the kingdom helping her out but only with whatever he can do while he is "under" their control or whatever they are doing to him," Jonah said, and I couldn't help but give him a quizzical look.

He smiled and tucked his head closer to his chest. "We'll talk about that later," he said. "Just know that the Crowned Prince is on your side and will help with whatever we allow him to help us with."

I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded. "Ok," I said.

"Then what about me?" Caspian asked and looked between the rest of us.

"That Old Man seems to think that something is special about me.

I mean he grabbed me and showed me blurry visions of things that I can't make sense of, but most of them had to deal with Marini, and I think one of them showed her death. "

"Death?" Jonah asked, sounding shocked and surprised. He moved a little closer to me, and I looked at him with a weird look on my face. "Who killed her? What did they look like?"

Caspian furrowed his brows and shook his head.

"I don't know," he said apologetically. "I don't know what I saw, but it did look like her death.

All of her veins were black and so were her eyes.

She didn't look alive to me, and I think that is what scared me the most, especially since she said a friend did it and then for me to trust her because she knows what is ha-" He cut himself off and shook his head.

"And that is where she cut herself off before she died with this forcefield surrounding her and making it so that no one, not even her dragon, could get to her ever again. "
